Don't do the CAPU-TAPO bus route, and do this instead!…read more Super easy way to travel to and from Mexico City Airport - very accessible (20 minutes and 40-50 pesos via Uber to Estrella Roja Terminal at 4 Poniente, the address) from Puebla's historic city center. This is the nicest terminal I've seen across all continents and with really nice staff! Tickets can be bought onsite, but to skip the lines, buy ahead of time at Aeropuertoer.com. It's in Spanish, but you can figure out what it's asking. International credit cards work. Just remember to put your FULL (incl middle) name where it says "nombre" - otherwise you can't complete your purchase. My friend doesn't have a middle name and had to make up a middle initial. This is not the same as the input field for your name for the credit card (don't make up names for that) - just a first and last name will do for that one. They then show you your ticket; screenshoot that, and voila :) Once you get to the station, you can go through either of the two security check lines. The one on the left is for the people with carry-on luggages; the right for those with backpacks/duffel bags. The luggages (maletas) will go on the bottom of the bus. Very clean facilities (read: bathrooms in the terminal), complete with complimentary espresso/Americano in the waiting area. They also have paper bags at the gate with water and cookies for the bus! Totally the way to travel to and from CDMX!

BlueBus. - Travel direct from downtown Mexico City to the Teotihuacan Pyramids!

WHY take public transportation, or an Uber, or some "experience" where a so-called 'guide' takes…read moreyour group to do some experiences you're not even interested in ... when you can take a Blue Bus? Blue Bus was SO easy to book (we lit. booked it 12 hours before hand, and didn't even pay until we showed up to catch the bus). It's a private charter from downtown Mexico City directly to the Teotihuacan site. The bus itself (a VW) was basically a limousine-style bus with room for 10-12 people (we only had 7 total) ... basically brand new ... with air conditioning (not that it's needed). On the way to the site, they play a PBS Documentary on the overhead screen about Teotihuacan, which shockingly ends at the exact time you arrive at the site. On the way back they play a different documentary about Mexico City! I mean ... you aren't going to get that on the METRObus. They leave downtown at roughly 09:30, and the return trip is scheduled at 1:30PM ... and it's an hour's ride each way. So from 10:30 until 1:30, you tour Teotihuacan on your own terms (and trust us--3 hours is plenty of time to take in the site). Back in the city by 2:30-ish, you have the rest of the day to spare. I fail to see why you'd do it any other way. You can schedule your own mezcal tasting, why would you go with a group of people you don't even know to something you might not even want to do? Oh, and there are snacks. Like, we had CHURROS in the morning on the bus, and--not even kidding--beers and chips on the way back. Highly recommended. BE SURE to bring a small tip for the driver and guide!

We will definitely use BlueBus again the next time we are in Mexico City! Thank you, thank you BlueBus!!!

The ticket office in the airport can be a bit unnerving because it is in a busy spot and serves multiple bus lines. And, well, they only speak Spanish (we are in Mexico after all.) Our rides to Puebla and return were precisely on time and the staff were professional. The safety procedures they have in place will be much appreciated for nervous travelers. Unless you are aiming for a specific location near the downtown terminals in Puebla, use the new and ultra-modern Puebla Paseo Destino in the southwest end of the City. It's close to the ring-highway, so quite convenient. And, it puts our Canadian bus terminals to shame. I have but one complaint - We couldn't get WiFi to work on the bus. We needed service to install their app, but if we had service we wouldn't need WiFi! Couldn't get our Canadian cell service to work, so it was a bit annoying as we couldn't connect with our friends for pick up in Puebla. Also, the Paseo Destino terminal has everything, except for free WiFi. Hope they change that! Otherwise, a highly recommended ride.

The bus runs from TAPO in Mexico City to CAPU in Puebla, the bus station which is about a twenty minute drive from the Zocalo area. My gripe is that when I was in Mexico City, I purchased return tickets from Puebla to Mexico City. The tickets were printed on flimsy receipt paper, and when it came time to use the tickets a few days later, they were faded and the clerk couldn't quite make out the number to verify that I hadn't forged the tickets, or wasn't pulling some scheme. So they made me purchase new tickets, at the rate of about $8USD each. I wasn't happy. There are two classes of buses, as far as I could tell. One is first class- with a bathroom, and non-stop service. They even showed a movie. The economy class didn't show a movie, had no restroom, and made several stops along the way.
