This restaurant was so cute! Even though their sign is big, the store is so small it's easy to miss. Walking in, it looked like a regular cute family own restaurant. They had snacks to buy at the register too. We all sat down for lunch and they were quick to attend. Rough prices: the birria tacos (4 tacos) were about $18. The other tacos ranged from $4.50-5.50/taco. Honestly was not bad of a price considering how much protein was stacked into them. Two others at the table had gotten burritos with mushrooms instead of meat, and those burritos were comically huge in size. I think the prices are definitely worth the size and quality of the food! The tacos were absolutely delicious! The birria meat was not dry without the consommé! They were very generous with how much filling it got. The carne taco was much better than the chicken one but both were very very good. Nothing in the meal was dry or felt like it's been sitting out for a while. The food is definitely made-to-order! No one at the table had any complaints, only compliments! Hopefully they get much more foot traffic; for lunch time it was not super busy, just a small family and a singular customer. Taqueria Cordoba - Tacos de Birria, pollo, carne, camarón - Mexican Near Me - Willimantic, Connecticut

On my IG Food Blog, I released a reel of taco places to visit and some people recommended places for me to try. One recommendation was Taqueria Cordoba. I recently visited and loved it. TC is located in the heart of the main drag in Willimantic. It's not fancy. It's part market. Part takeout. And there's functional seating for maybe up to about 15 people. But I wouldn't call it comfortable. After looking at the menu and what was going on at some of the tables, I ordered a pastor taco, a shredded lamb taco and a Mango Guava Agua Fresca for takeout. The tacos were traditional in that the meats were served with cilantro, onions, a lime, red salsa and green salsa on corn tortillas. The pastor was very tasty and tender. The serving size of the pastor was substantial. The lamb had good shredded texture and moisture. Almost like lamb carnitas. It needed more salt though. Both salsas were spicy, but good. I don't know if the the tortillas were made in house because they were too busy to ask. They seemed like they probably were though. I ordered the Mango Guava Agua Fresca after seeing it on so many tables. There were so many apparently knowledgeable Mexican diners there, I figured they knew something I didn't know. They did. It was delicious and had a substantially to it. If you need a fancier place to eat and don't live in the area for takeout, TC might not be your first choice. I don't need a fancy place. Some good tacos, some iffy tacos, in a restaurant that doubles as a kind of local grocery. An interesting place to get some quality tacos In the area, looking for some new food places to try. Girlfriend was in the mood for tacos, so Tacos we get! We see a new place with a good amount of reviews, so we decide to give this place a chance. It's a relatively small shop, the sign is very large but the front of shop is kind of small. they have a few tables but not enough to handle the lunch rush. We take a seat and wait a few minutes for someone to bring us menus. We get to looking and we order a flight of tacos to share between us. While waiting, we have a host of locals come in and go to the coolers in the back. they come out with assorted vegetables and fruits and the server rings them out. So the stuff in the front and back are buyable, and given the amount of people doing this, it seems to be a staple around here. We get the tacos after a little bit of a wait, and we dig in. The meats were all cooked well, the shrimp were seasoned well and cooked well which lead to a very good bite. The others, needed a bit of sauce to help them along. the tortillas were crisp and the fillings were fresh, but everything needed just a little bit of sauce or bite to make them actually good tacos. I don't mind saucing my own tacos, but I do expect the tacos to be mostly balanced when you get them. These were cooked well but underseasoned, with the exception of the shrimp taco which was good as-is. The meal was relatively cheap, a flight of 6 tacos coming out to 21 bucks. so 3.5 bucks per taco which isn't too bad for the quality. For a local place, it's a good cheap taco. For those out and about, it's good but wouldn't expect greatness. read more

Taqueria Cordoba has been on my list of restaurants to try in Willimantic for a while. This restaurant does a very brisk takeout business and it was time to find out why. I visited for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with my mother-in-law. We both ordered Taco Special tacos which is a 50 cent up charge from the basic tacos, but includes all of the fixings one wants on a taco: cheese, lettuce, tomato, diced onions, cilantro, avocado. I had a taco with lamb and one with steak. My mother-in-law had pork and chicken as her meat choices. We both found the meat to be tasty yet covered in grease that dripped from our tacos and all over our hands. Overall, this restaurant is small. When you walk in there is a counter to the immediate left that has takeout menus and the register. Cash and credit cards are accepted. There is a very cluttered area next to the register counter that looks like additional storage for dry goods and other items. There are a total of six tables. Four four tops and two six tops. Towards the back of the dining area are two coolers. The cooler on the left has beverages. The cooler on the right appeared to contain food items for sale. Beyond the coolers are the kitchen to the left and bathrooms to the right. We had an overall pleasant experience with the staff and dining-in at Cordoba's. We stopped in for a quick lunch. We tried the carne asada tacos & the birria tacos. Both were delicious. We had never tried the birria as lamb before, so that was interesting, but good. Everywhere else had served beef birria. It's a small spot, but service was speedy & food was authentic. read more

I was going to gate keep this place because it is literally the best place to eat mexican food in Willimantic & the restaurant is always packed with the locals. Visit this restaurant! You'll never regret it! + $5 large horchata is incredibly huge and literally the best horchata you will ever have in your life (at least it was the best for me)!! read more

Tried Cordoba for the first time after passing by hundred of times. It is just take out at the moment, I am not sure if they will have table sitting after COVID. We ordered three different dishes: steak tacos, which came with onions, cilantro, and fresh salsa. My companion ordered a large chicken sope, súper delicioso. Also a yummy chorizo quesadilla. This was a decent place to get lunch. It seems a bit understaffed, because when I walked in there was no one there and I had to wait a couple minutes for help. The food was good, though. I enjoyed my quesadilla (maybe could have used slightly more flavor, but it was still enjoyable) and the portion sizes here are pretty big. I got a small quesadilla and it was definitely very filling. My brother got a burrito and it was HUGE. Usually burritos are finger food, but this needed a fork and knife. read more

Gave this place a try after a recommendation and was nothing but satisfied! The quesabirria tacos were outstanding and have yet to be rivaled, had to come back and get them again soon after. The regular tacos are also very good as well! Horchata was the perfect addition and well priced for only $5 for a large. The food price is higher than other Taquerias in the area and expect a little of a wait for your food but is worth the wait in my opinion. read more
