    Carne Asada

BEST Tacos I've ever had. Been wanting to try them since I saw on TikTok and they were so good I ordered more! Sonoran dog is really goood and flavorful would probably be my favorite as well if the bun was grilled/ toasted.

Food truck with additional sitting area-they make the most amazing authentic Mexican street food here! And Sonoma Hot Dogs, too. Order at the truck, when you get your food mosey on over to the condiment area & make it yours! Good service (gracias, senior!). Enjoy your food to go or sit down and enjoy some fresh air as well!

El Cheke is located on the corner of first and river. Even though it's a food truck there is a detached building on site with additional seating. Taqueria el Cheke is a-ok. I personally found it to be very greasy. I ordered a Caramelo with chicken and it was extremely oily and not really pleasant to eat. My husband ordered the pork tacos. Neither of the items were very enjoyable but the tortillas were good. With so many options in Tucson for good tacos, Cheke was just a little too greasy for our taste.

The abodaba was the absolute best I've ever had. The spices were perfect. It was moist, flavorful. I had it on the Lorenza, a toasted street taco, and in a caramello. Both very delicious! The corn tortilla for the Lorenza was toasted perfectly. The Chipilon style Sonoran Dog was good, but not their star dish. The service is friendly. Last night, one of the brothers in this business saw my daughter had her purse on the table in our party of three so he came out, got a chair from another table and put it on the end of our table and put her purse on it. How sweet! So today I went to see my daughter at work and I asked her what her plans were when she got off. She replied that she was going to go eat. I asked where, to which she replied "Back at the taco place:" to which i laughed and said, "So am I!" We both were thinking about it all day because it was so good. That was hilarious. But the fact is, the abodaba is excellent! 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

Hotdog, three carne asada tacos and a can of coke $17 and change.

Carne asada tacos were on point. Grilled meat, juicy and chopped. I had the carne on flour. Hotdog was decent, no bacon but still tasty. Service and food, todo bein. Come here for a quick bite. Every thing was clean and orderly.

Little food truck that serves tacos, tortas, hot dogs. Flavorful, the carne asada was a little on the dry side. The hod dog was delicious. Kuddos for the toppings bar.

Sonoran Hot Dog, 2 Adobo Tacos,1 Carne Taco, 2 Dorado carne tacos, and one Caramelo with asada. The was for 2 of us.

These guys do a great job. The adobo tacos are my favorite and the Tucson standard Sonoran Hot Dog will not do you wrong. Easy access of 1st and River.

El Cheke just opened by Tucson Mall recently. I am so thankful that there is a new awesome place to get authentic Mexican food on this side of town! I had a pork taco, steak taco, and a Sonoran dog. The Sonoran dog had the usual toppings and was perfectly executed. The tacos had well seasoned meat that had the perfect amount of char. There was a great meat to tortilla ratio as well. The condiment bar was fully stocked with the usual extras that complete the meal. I got the 2 tacos and a hotdog for only $7.50, which is definitely a steal. Service was also very friendly and fast. I will definitely be back to try the other items.

They messed up our order. I had asked for 2 pollo tacos and they even repeated the order to me saying pollo yet I got two asado tacos. My boyfriend ordered 4 asado tacos and got 4 durado tacos. The vibes are off here and they looked mad that we were ordering. Not coming back...

I always recommend! My number one place for roadside tacos. The price is always worth the bite.

So, I haven't went anywhere to specifically try Carne Asada in Tucson for a while, and I know, I…read moreneed to get out more, I am a Yelp Elite after all, right? So I changed that and went to Zahid's. So to remind you, good Carne Asada has the following: 1. Seasoned 2. Juicy 3. Tender 4. Good cut(no grisle, not cut like kibble ect) So Zahid's is mildly seasoned, it's juicy, but not super juicy? But that's because it was chopped to all hell so it was like steak kibble. But the cut itself was of solid quality so it wasn't wholly bad, but I also wasn't excited by it. It was tender, but again, that was minimized because they chopped it like Parsely. The burrito had mozzarella cheese and cabbage. I was under the impression it came with beans in it, but it didn't, they came on the side. I think that was better, the beans were in a watery, yet flavorful broth that would've masked the mild flavored steak. I really wanted to give this 4 stars, but I can't on this slightly above average Carne Asada. What made this burrito good was the pickled onions and jalapeño salsa. But sauce or salsa in this case, shouldn't carry your food. At all. That means you're not making it right. Anyway, it's worth noting the tortilla was really good and the burro, a medium, was a decent size. I will return to get the Al Pastor, it looked good. But for Asada? Probably not? If I did, it would be a taco.

El Semental is a Mexican food truck just down Kinney Rd from the Desert Museum, Saguaro National…read morePark and Old Tucson. It's a no frills, down home cooking kind of place. They do most everything in house and usually you can find various members of the owner's family helping out taking orders and cooking. It is a food truck, but they do have a few tables and chairs for outdoor seating when the weather is nice. They don't have set hours however. They're around for most lunch/dinner shifts, but some days don't show. For food, they have a little bit of everything from carne asada and adobadas to chicharon and menudo. You can get most everything as either a plate, taco or burrito. I usually go with a plate and have at least two meals out of it. They pride themselves on cooking everything with mesquite charcoal. I love their adobada as well as red chili burritos, both have a real punch of flavor. The burritos come LOADED with meat, so be prepared when you order. The plate is served with a delicious Mexican rice, refried beans, a cabbage/onion mix (ask for extra!) and a couple pretty good tortillas. They also serve fresh, homemade lemonade that is amazing on a hot day!

Let me begin this review by saying that for us locals, we are always happy to see a new business…read morecrop up as there just aren't many to choose from. El Semental is a food truck parked on the corner of Western and Kinney. They offer the standard Mexican food truck fare (well except for Sonoran dogs) of tacos, caramelos and burritos. What is unique about this truck, is the choice of meats offered. Carne asada, chicken, abodado, chile verde, red chili, barbacoa (Fri & Sat), and a couple others. Burritos are huge, tacos are offered regular or monster sized, and the nachos (more on those in a minute) are gargantuan. We visited several times and have sampled a good amount of what they have to offer. At times, it's been great and others times have been...not. Product has been flavorful and nicely spiced or salty, chewy and inedible. This applies to pretty much all items. Nachos had potential but were ruined with lots of cold guacamole/sour cream and lettuce on top that prevented the cheese from melting and made the meat cold. Yuck. Will be staying away from those next time. Why keep playing the hit and miss game? Like I said, not much else out in this area to eat. Another reviewer wrote about the lemonade and she was absolutely right about that. Lemonade is delicious. I debated on 3 or 4 stars for awhile and decided that it really depends on the time you go apparently. I'm going to say 4 in the hopes that it may encourage you to give a local business a try and hopefully that will get them to be more consistent.
