I stopped here on my way back to the Naval Academy (coming from Southern California) And I have to say that the food here is some of the best Mexican food I've ever had, even better than some restaurants in SoCal!! Great food, polite staff and definitely had that small town feel. Taqueria Fresnillo is an authentic hole-in-the-wall Mexican cafe. Needless to say, you can't go wrong ordering the tacos. They serve real bottled Mexican soft drinks, so be sure to enjoy a Coke as well. Each week they also bake fresh Mexican cookies, breads, and other desserts. If you really want to be adventurous they'll probably let you try the menudo (not the band). Definitely a great place to eat at if you've managed to find yourself lost in Clinton. This is the best Mexican food in Clinton, hands down. Their tacos are legit. I love the buche con chorizo, which is pork-belly and sausage. Everything they do is wonderful, including the menudo. Try their green salsa with chips. You won't regret it. read more

Walked in by myself and drew some gringa comments, but fair enough, I was a stand-out in this little place. This did not stop the servers from being gracious and the food divine. I had the Red Chili Pork Taco plate and it was GOOD! Plenty of spice, but got even better when served with green jalapeño salsa and limes to add a little more spice. Pleasantly surprised! No frills but clean and friendly. Ordered the fried pork burrito and beef fajita burrito to go. A mile down the road we were smiling and chowing down. Since we have been traveling out of Texas for a few years we were happy to taste real Mexican food. Definitely worth the stop. read more

Excellent, authentic taqueria. The tacos are fresh made with onion and cilantro, they have a good range of Mexican sodas to drink (as well as Coke, Dr. Pepper, etc and beer), and the service is great. I get the tacos with red chile pork, but beef, chicken and tongue are also on the menu. You can get tamales in the Christmas season and menudo on Fridays, and it is a also a panaderia for those who are fans of Mexican pastries. There is a minimum $20 charge for credit card use, so bring cash. read more

WORST FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD! Served on a paper plate. Corn tortillas were microwaved from a frozen state, mushy, separated and fell apart in our hands and had no flavor. Beans and rice were mushy had no flavor. Cold in the center and tasted like left over days old food that had been microwaved. Tea was definitely left over and tasted terrible. "Salsa" looked and tasted like tomato soup with Tabasco sauce in it...terrible! I tried to be a trooper, but after the first two bites of my taco, I started getting nauseated and could not finish...meat was not identifiable to me, had no flavor and was large chunks of something tough with a lot of gristle and membrane. I tried the rice and beans but they were equally bad. I left two of the three tacos untouched and all but one spoonful of rice and beans untouched. Three sips of tea and left the rest. My husband's meal was equally bad, maybe worse. Mexican food is our favorite and we have dined at many Mexican restaurants. Our favorite is a restaurant near where we live that serves authentic Mexican food. I have never given any restaurant a bad review, but this was terrible! It was days old terrible food that had been microwaved. We left this place feeling traumatized, nauseated and violated. We walked out feeling like we had been to the Twilight Zone. We both felt like we needed a couple stiff drinks and we do not drink! We will never return! read more
