My girlfriend and I always get the carne asada quesadilla, it's huge! We tried the carne asada fries for the first time. The fries were really good too. They already came with the queso, guac, salsa and creme so nothing needed to be added. We added the grilled onions to the quesadilla and more the guac/salsa from the condiment bar. So sad. Came to try out this place. The salsa bar has dirty undiced cilantro, the onions are old and translucent with a dainty odor like they're about to go bad. The bar isn't at the temperature 8t should be. The floors, doors, chairs both used and stacked had dry food caked on. The bins dirty. You can see into the kitchen with a big pile up of dirty dishes, which would be fine if it were busy. But I'm the only one here. Prices way to high for service, quality cleanliness. I rolled into Taqueria Obregón later in the evening (because why make responsible choices when you can eat birria at night?), and let me tell you: their queso birria tacos are the kind of delicious that makes you question all past taco decisions. They also have a full salsa bar of glory... cucumbers, onions, radishes, shredded cabbage giving off a slight eau de cabbage vibe (just being honest), grilled onions, grilled jalapeños at the counter, the whole "build-your-own-topping-party" experience. Did the birria need all that? Absolutely not. Did I pile it on anyway like a kid unsupervised at a buffet? You bet your sweet Mexican cola I did. The person I was with ordered a plain meat burrito specifically so he could dress it up himself at the salsa bar (a man with a plan). The service is very slow and unprofessional. The food is never fresh because they just pull it out of a pot that's been sitting there all day and basically it just gets warmed up on the grill . I ordered a carne asada taco on flour tortilla (nice, you're given the option corn or flour), carne asada quesataco, fish taco on corn tortilla and i tried the quesabirria. Customer service was great. They don't have tortilla chips on menu but i asked for some and got some freahly made ones. The food was outstanding and will definitely be back. TL:DR - The cabeza is my fave. A quesa taco is a small taco with cheese similar to a quesadilla/taco hybrid. Pastor and Tripa were def better than I've had most places in PHX. Horchata size is generous. More upset we found this place a week before moving out of town. Our go to tacos were also the tripa, pastor, pescado, and cabeza quesa on a flour taco. The Cabeza was easily the best out of them all, super flavorful and juicy at the same time. The pastor was better than most places as well, juicy while having a good crispy crust and also really flavorful. The pescado was fried nicely, slightly on the crispier end and def had a little more batter than fish, and while some people may complain about it, I thought it was fine cause the crunch worked well with the creamy sauce. This place also does tripa right, crispy but also chopped small. Great crispy and chewy texture all at once. I also love to top my tacos with their green sauce which was more flavorful with a slight kick. They had a 50% of taco tuesday special which was amazing and the horchata portion was generous.
