I've eaten at this restaurant several times and I must say their do really make good food. order the molee special however I do have a couple of things that I'm not happy with number one the people who ring the orders up they don't smile very much and today I asked her to lower the television and she told me customers like it louder or whatever well was I not a customer. I asked her to shut it off, but she decided to turn it lower but at the end as I was eating, it seemed like someone turned it louder. They also charge extra for chips, which is the first place I've ever seen it plus they want you to bus your own dishes. There not very personable although the ladies are bringing the food out they're very gracious. It's just the people who ring up the food. They're not very happy. mention that I didn't think it was fair that we were charge extra for chips and the person who I told you didn't even smile or apologize or anything I mean, There just don't really have good social skills here at all. read more

I went in the other day to have the chile verde with eggs plate (my favorite) and saw they were taking orders for tamales for the holidays. At $36 a dozen the price was more than $10 less per dozen than other places. I took a chance and ordered a dozen each of the pork in red sauce, chicken in red sauce and the jalapeño with cheese and potato. They were DELICIOUS! Good masa-to-filling ratio. We'd only tried this place during the pandemic, so we decided to give it another try after reading an article about it. We got the super quesadilla, one with birra and one with carnitas. We're used to quesadillas that have everything sandwiched between two tortillas, so getting quesadillas with meat/cheese only cut into quarters with the avocado/sour cream/salsa/lettuce on the side to add on top was new. Came here randomly on a Monday and wow. SO GOOD! Very reasonably priced and I love that you can sit inside at the bar and enjoy a cold cerveza. The sweet small woman at the front greeted us and took our order. When she went in the back to cook our meals I just knew it was going to be some bomb authentic Mexican food. So glad we found this place, I'd always pass by it without thinking to pop in. My boyfriend got the chimichanga and really enjoyed it (forgot to take a photo of his). We live in the area and have countless Taquerias to choose from. We love that we can call and pickup burritos within usually 10 min. Our regular order consist of Al Pastor Super Burrito, California Burrito, or their Carne Asada Super Burrito. The Worse CARNE ASADA Experience Ever!! How do you burn carne asada so Bad, to the point where you think it's ok to SERVE it to a customer!? This was my experience when I went to this place. Now I've had great, good and ok Carne Asada. But this Carne Asada was in a league of its own! It was literally Burnt to a crisp! It felt like I was eating a Crunchy Tortilla Chip Burrito! this place is a joke. I will never come here again! last month I ordered nacho fries with al pastor and the meat was obviously not fresh-it was tuff and chewy, like jerky. the fries were mushy. not a lot of flavor overall either. Today I decided to give it another try. I was with my daughter and we ordered a burrito, nachos and a drink.... ....it was taking a long time to get our food, but we decided to have patience. I noticed several other groups that arrived & ordered AFTER us getting their food. Its been 25 minutes since we ordered so I went up to the register and ask what was taking SO long. they had no excuse, but it was obvious our ticket was skipped several times. ridiculous & poor customer service. how do you not notice a table sitting there without their food for over 20 minutes?!?!?! the woman that now cooks in the back use to work the register taking orders, even since she started cooking in the back the food has gone downhill!!! not sure what qualifies her to work in the kitchen. she can't even keep track of the ticket orders! I got a refund and left. I will never return after today. do yourself a favor and try the sushi place next door. they are friendly, quick and efficient. thanks for ruining my lunch taqueria tepeque. Was really craving Mexican breakfast and just googled this place. Really delicious! I got the chilaquiles and my husband got the chorizo and eggs. Only negative for my husband was that it was beef chorizo and he prefers pork but we might have just missed that on the menu. read more

I used to love coming here when I lived right down the street. The food tastes good but instantly recommend to never get a burrito. Or if you do say no rice. I ordered a carne asada burrito and I received a rice burrito with meat flavor. Literally 3/4 of my burrito and my wife's burrito was rice. My son liked his asada tacos. I worked in the Capitola Mall area for 15 years, so I liked to vary my lunch selections. Taqueria Tepeque was one of my favorite places to go. I grew up in the midwest in an era when Mexican food was exotic and hard to find (we didn't even have avocados and tortillas in our local markets way back when). Then I spent some time in New Mexico and got exposed to regional Mexican cuisines, both in the States and the various parts of Mexico itself. I spent 12 years in Tucson and became a fan of borderlands style Sonoran foods. I have to admit when I first moved to Santa Cruz, I wasn't as impressed with the local Guadalajaran - Oaxacan flavors, but I adapted. I really enjoy Puebloan moles and the Mayan influenced flavors of the Yucatan. I love Taqueria Tepeque's murals, which give the place a real Mexicano, taqueria feel. read more

So when I came in it was late and I ordered 3 chicken tacos and it came pretty fast the chips they gave on the side was at first good until I realized that oil was dripping down my lip it was packed with oils and my food came please don't order the chicken tacos they didn't ask me if it's grilled or boiled and it came out boiled it tasted like ass I didn't eat my 3 tacos I waited a bit and I got 1 carne asada taco it was actually pretty good and I like the fact that the horchata is homemade it wasn't bad but overall I didn't really enjoy it other then the carne asada read more
