I placed an order over the phone. There is definitely a language barrier. I repeated my order twice. When my husband picked up the order we had an extra order of enchiladas which I did not order. Tried for the first time..have walked past this place a hundred times...my friend invited me for lunch...she ordered for us even before I got there...chicken soft tacos $3 each and birria (goat) soup $12 and it was delicious....really tasty broth with peppers...sometimes called...goat meat pepper soup...it was just spicy enough, but I wished they threw in some potatoes or something...chips are good and fresh and salsa pretty good also...I don't usually stray away from the chicken, beef and pork stuff....first time having goat..it was so good! Came here for the first time today just by chance! We got 4 carne Asada tacos and ate outside. The wait for the food was a bit longer than I was expecting considering that there was nobody ahead of us in line but it was definitely some of the best tacos I've ever had. Food is okay. Really there are a lot of taquerias better than this one but it's convenient if you are shopping nearby. But the service SUCKS! The young woman running the counter (I think it may be the owner's daughter) is always rude. Rolls her eyes if you ask a question. Can't really be bothered to see if you have what you ordered, or just plain ignores you. I don't normally write negative reviews, but I came in with my daughter and really tried to be nice and got nowhere. Then of course they expect a tip at the counter. Came here to order quesabirria which this establishment is never my first option but wanted to grab something near my errands, the order came with onions on it which it didn't say it came with and then they said if I wanted to get new ones made that I would have to pay for them because that's how they prepare it. I enjoyed my dinner here. We've been trying to find a decent Mexican food spot near by and I think we found it. I was happy to see they had pozole during the middle of the week. I wish they had a soda fountain, but they offer canned and bottled soda. The pozole had a good flavor with all the extras on the side to add. Decent amount of meat and hominy. They charged me more because they said it wasn't their responsibility that I ordered online and the prices have changed. They didn't update the online menu to the price increase. We LOVE the super burritos, and although it's controversial, we believe Taqueria Tepeque has the best super burritos in the county. There is horrible Mexican food in Capitola. The worst. This place, is legit NorCal Mexican taqueria style. Note the light complexions of the bad reviews. Not being racist, but its not geared for the people looking to get their Chevy's fix. I've had 3 different meats so far in both tacos and burritos. Asada is good, the al pastor is not "real" as in its not off the spit but is still good, and the chicken is pretty good too. I even nailed a veggie burrito here and it was pretty damn legit. I do agree with the reviewer below that said the California burrito needs to have french fries, not potatoes. Also, they have the full Rainbow of Jarritos including Guava, which is hard to find. Pretty pathetic excuse for a Taqueria, and definitely the worst burrito I have ever had (though I should note, we didn't really eat too much of it due to the fact that it smelled just as bad as it tasted). As Alex D. wrote, the beep of the microwave was a telltale sigh that this place was a mistake waiting to happen. Add to that the fact that the kitchen is in full view and let's just say cleanliness was not their main priority. There are boxes of unloaded stuff stacked everywhere and before we were even handed our unappetizing bag of greasy burritos, we were already planning where to stop on the way home to pick up something actually worth having for Taco Thursday.
