I don't like leaving negative reviews, but unfortunately, I don't feel comfortable recommending Emanuel after our party this past Saturday. The circumstances may have been unusual for him. Our venue asked that he not use propane, which he did. The timing of the food was also very important to the event running on time as it was a Bat Mitzvah. It was a larger party and we had 100 guests. Emanuel was very difficult to communicate with and plan with leading up to the event. We tried to cancel at one point, but he wouldn't refund our deposit so we decided to proceed with him. We met him at the venue a couple of weeks ahead of time and communicated our plan multiple times in person and through text and phone calls. On the day of the event he showed up 30 minutes late and with only one helper. The appetizers were about 75 minutes late. The dinner ended up being 75-90 minutes late as well. When things started to run late, I, as well as my event staff, tried to talk with him so we could understand the rest of the timing, but he became defensive and that did not work out. On the positive side, I do think he tried his best. All of our guests got to eat and there was ultimately plenty of food. He also surprised us with a free horchata. Finally, he took all of the trash from the venue which saved us some money. Ultimately, I wish Emanuel was more understanding of the criticality of timing of the event, had reacted quicker to get a minimum amount of food served to get things rolling, and was more apologetic during and after the event. I hired Taquizas El Guero for my Birthday Party which had about 50 people attend. From the start of the process. Emanuel was very friendly and answered all my questions. He was accommodating in figuring out my set up time and how long I would need the taco service. I wanted to change the agua fresca flavor from what the standard was and he was able to get me what I wanted. I asked if he could do a vegetarian option as we have some vegetarian friends and he said he could bring veggies to grill fajita style and this was delivered on the day of the party. The standard serving time that was priced for 2 hours but Emanuel was open to negotiating another hour for a reasonable price increase. I sent the deposit which was half the price of the full service in order to secure the date. On the day of the event it was not Emanuel who provided the service but it was his wife instead. She arrived on time and set up very quickly. She was very friendly and provided food to the guests. We had one canopy to cover the food but realized that it wouldn't be enough and she had a canopy that she set up as well. She provided a table for the taco toppings and was even accommodating for some other food that I was providing to the guests. I had 3 meat options that included steak, chicken, and al pastor along with the one vegetarian option. The guests were served tacos and quesadillas. She was very friendly to all the guests and people loved the food, especially the al pastor. At the end of the time she continued serving a few guests and even went a little bit over the 3 hour period so as to make sure everyone who wanted some tacos were served at the end. She then quickly provided me with the leftover cooked meat in case our guests might want some more tacos after they were gone. The breakdown was also very quick and completely not disruptive.
