VT was very responsive via text and email through the event planning process, answering all my questions. And there were a hit at my husband's 50th birthday party! Everyone raved about the food and service, requesting business cards. Garrett, Anthony and Elijah were slightly early to our event, which was welcomed. They were so pleasant, helpful, efficient, respectful and professional. They made hosting easy! We appreciated the extra canopy on a warm and sunny day, sharing what to expect and packing all the leftovers, including complimentary gallon containers for the extra aguas frescas. Very attentive to dietary needs. The estimates for number of people served seemed close correct for us. We expected 100, ordered for 110, and had 90 show up. There was a lot of leftovers we sent home. It's overwhelming choosing taco catering in the bay area, and we were very worried. I can't speak to the quality of others, but Vatos is a very solid choice. Run by pros. The staff were stoked and seemed to genuinely like their jobs. The guy who answers the phone is super attentive and didn't get annoyed with the number of time I called to confirm (if you are reading this, we are sorry ) One small thing that should not affect your decision of taco company; they use an AI answering machine that pretends to be human (with kitchen sounds in the background). Awesome food and great service! Some friends catered from Vatos Tacos for a pre-wedding luncheon for some friends in their backyard. The mom and uncle of the owner showed up early to set up and start cooking. They were professional, kind, and very friendly. I was stoked that they cooked everything fresh on site and didn't just have food in warmers. We got to choose among proteins and veggies, and the salsa bar was awesome. Kids and adults alike really enjoyed the churros too! They boxed up all leftovers after the event, so we ate tacos for leftovers and froze a bunch too for later. The only thing one of my friends said was that paying extra for salad wasn't worth it because the salad was just from a bag. Everything was delicious, and I ate too much! We booked Vatos Taco for a reception to feed about 100 people. It was reasonably priced .. fed about 6 tacos per person, salsa bar was included along with 2 jugs of the agua frescas. Jimmy, Tony and Bradley were great! Friendly and made sure everyone was full and happy. They came 2 hours prior to start of event to get set up so once everyone came they were ready to roll. The food was amazing. We ordered the tacos - chicken, carne asada and al pastor. All were good. Couldn't have been happier with how everything came out. Vatos Tacos was the caterer for the celebration of life event of my late friend and police comrade JD on 03/26/2025. They arrived at the venue to set up approximately two hours before the 12pm reception. I'm sure their punctuality was appreciated by JD's sister, who had a lot of details to take care of for the event. After the memorial service, I got to the reception at around 12:15pm and the taco action was already in full swing. The operation was divided into two areas - one for tacos and the other for fixings/drinks/churros. Three types of meat were offered - steak, chicken, and carnitas. I tried all three and they were all very good. I especially loved the carnitas. It had a nice char on the outside and was flavorful and succulent. The fixings were all freshly made and delicious, and the churros were probably the best I've ever had. I spoke with the Vatos team briefly and they were all very friendly. I was told they are strictly a catering service with no brick-and-mortar operation, and their pricing is based on the number of event attendees. Based on my experience, their high Yelp rating is well justified. Personally, I'd totally consider using them for future events. 5 stars. read more

We hired Vatos Tacos for my son's first birthday party where I had half our guests travel in from San Diego... serving tacos to a bunch of San Diegans is risky, but SO many people oooh'd and ahhh'd over these. The guys (JJ and Garett) were SO friendly - very communicative with me as they were setting up, ensured we had the perfect spot for service, cut up my sons quesadilla for him, made me cheese skirt tacos, the list goes on... every guest said they made the experience even better with how friendly they were. We had a group of about 30 and Vatos Tacos minimum is 50, so we have plenty of extras - they boxed and labeled it all up for us so we had things nicely organized in the refrigerator for leftovers. Giving five stars because the food was good,and the service was great. Not authentic but good food. The salsas roja y verde were mild and could of used more salt and spicier Chiles. The beans were good and so was the rice, although not authentic Mexican rice. They brought churros and also provided one agua fresca which was a pretty good horchata. It was very flavorful and juicy. 2nd would be the Al Pastor and then steak, I wasn't too fond of the steak because it was on the dry side. Staff was very fast and nice. It was very easy to communicate with Alex - from the planning, to the check-in's prior, all the way until the day of. They have a great selection of meats and dishes to choose from and we chose some of their additional offerings like quesadillas, elote cups, and churros. Buyer beware, we were referred to Vatos by a coworker. We check out their website, checked their yelp reviews, Oh wow, you guys catered company parties and for davante Adams, must be legit. We call and coordinate for a birthday party at Lincoln landing in Hayward, told them the date and location. "We've done events there, no problem". Fast forward to the actual day of event, the crew shows up late, pretty much unable to bring their grill and what not to the patio on the 2nd floor... what? I thought yall been here no problem, wrong. Due to the crew not being able to bring up their equipment, they let us know they will bring back smaller grills to cook everything and serve it. Umm okay, I guess? They leave and come back two hours later.. two hours later really? It's getting dark now and they brought all their cooked meats and start setting up some griddles to heat up the tortillas. Wasn't the agreement for fresh tacos just like any other taco company, not pre cooked meat and just warming up tortillas. Those 'fresh' churros that were supposed to be cooked on the spot ended up being a bundle of soggy, cold churros that were brought from who knows where. The food was okay at best, the service was meh, I understand it's not the workers fault and they tried to be professional as possible under the circumstances. But one of the workers stated: "we still showed up and served food for two hours" Seriously? If we wanted this trash experience we could've just catered with chipotle and called it a day, at least we'd know what we're spending our money on. I understand things happen etc, that's life. But don't flip the script and make it seem like we're at fault. We're literally clients paying you for an experience, not the other way around. I'd do a one star review but they ended up partially reimbursing us for the experience. Sorry, not sorry. read more
