I went to this practice today for a follow up procedure from a previous doctor. I was scheduled with Dr. Sonya Lee. I arrived, checked in, and filled out paperwork, then was taken back to undress and wait for the doctor to come in. When she arrived, my first impression was certainly not a warm and fuzzy one. She was unfriendly, abrupt, and even seemed annoyed or inconvenienced when I was explaining my medical history and current concerns. It was uncomfortable, but I figured not everyone is naturally welcoming or comforting. It was what ensued during and after my in office procedure that assured me this was much worse than poor bedside manor. As we began my procedure, I mentioned to Dr. Lee that I wasn't good with GYN "stuff" as in very sensitive to pain and/or discomfort in that area. This was just a heads up in hopes that she would have some empathy and maybe take things a little slower or with extra care, and her response was "well yea this isn't fun for me either". Great. So my sense of her being annoyed or inconvenienced at the beginning of my appointment was confirmed. She proceeded on with the procedure which was just flat out rough and fast - beyond unpleasant. I asked her at some point if it was almost done and she said it would be. The last few seconds were the worst, it was as if she was purposely being erratic! Zero concern or consideration for me, my body, or my sensitivities. Once she was done, I mentioned that the procedure was done a little fast and roughly. She was clearly offended and said she didn't know what to tell me and wasn't sure how they do it at other places, but that's how they do it at GSP. Then she says "well I guess I'll text you with the results". Her attitude about it was horrible, dismissive, and cold. I'm sitting there half clothed and the person who's care I'm in has treated me like trash. I couldn't believe what I was experiencing. I expressed to her that I was a little uncomfortable at that point and her response was "yea me too". She then proceeded to go to the computer to take notes while I was sitting there in a very vulnerable position, unable to get up or move. I asked her if I could have please have the room to get dressed and she got up, walked out, and slammed the door behind her. As soon as that door shut I was in tears. I could not believe the treatment that I had just received. I have never in my life experienced something like this. Sure, a medical degree is great for practicing medicine, but so is care, empathy, compassion, a good bedside manor, and a general respect and consideration for others - things Dr. Lee is clearly severely lacking. I will never step foot into the offices of Gynecology Specialists of Philadelphia again and I urge others to consider my situation before they do. There are so many wonderful doctors out there, terrible experiences like mine should just never have to happen. Glad I know now! Looking forward to seeing a new doctor in the future. **Update** Ironically, but not surprisingly, recently received this letter in the mail from GSP stating that I am being let go as a patient for being "rude and disrespectful to the staff." Hard to do anything but laugh at this. First, for the fact that this is what I get in response to leaving a completely honest review of a horrid experience I had - no apology or accountability from this doctor, of course - which is right in line with my experience. And secondly, the fact that they ever thought I was stepping foot back in that office again! Ha. No thanks, a thousand times. I was nothing but pleasant with everyone in that office, including Dr. Lee who was in fact, extremely rude and unprofessional to me. God, they are worse off than I initially thought! Beware.

The conversations always feel collaborative and two-way, which I really appreciate. There are many situations in healthcare where you can feel rushed or like your concerns aren't fully heard, but that has never been the case here. Every visit feels thoughtful, engaged, and genuinely focused on what you're saying. Another aspect in which this practice stands out is its ability to help patients navigate the larger system. Dr. Zhang has been very helpful with referrals and specialists, and in handling the complexities of working within Penn and insurance networks. In simple terms, he makes processes that could feel complicated much easier to manage. Communication outside of appointments has been excellent as well. Dr. Zhang responds through the Penn portal, provides timely and clear updates on labs and test results, and the app itself makes it easy to manage prescriptions and ask questions. It all adds a layer of convenience and peace of mind that's hard to overstate. The South Street location is a major plus for anyone in Center City. It's easy to get appointments quickly, and having additional services like imaging in the same building makes it feel like a convenient, comprehensive care destination without the chaos of a large hospital campus like HUP or Penn Presbyterian. I understand Dr. Zhang will be leaving in the coming months, which is disappointing as a patient, but I'm genuinely happy for him. He's an excellent doctor and deserves a great next chapter. I do plan to stay with this practice and transition to another provider, which shows how strong the overall experience has been. Highly recommend Dr. Zhang and this location!

I couldn't believe this considering it was 5 minutes with an NP for a very straight forward sore throat. Turns out this place intentionally over inflates the amount of time they spend with patients in their notes so that they can charge for an extra long 40 minute appointment. I spent a month trying to dispute this insane bill, but it turns out they can run up whatever nonsense charges they want and there is nothing you can do about it after the fact. This place completely takes advantage of patients, and I will never go back.

Doctors are, you know....people. You don't want to evaluate them with the callousness with which you might describte, say, a crepe stand. On the flip side, choosing a primary care physician is hard. You have to pick a random name off of a list and suddenly that person is you go-to for every question and ailment. Unlike the crepes, other people's opinions could be really helpful for longer than a few hours... Fortunately for me, Dr. Graziani is a great doctor, so I don't have to stress about the relative ethics of bashing her on a public website. She is kind, thorough, smart, and gets an extra star for being the first doctor in awhile to take an invested interest in my nemesis, migraines. I'd recommend her. I am recommending her. Most recently I found a doctor's office that was adequate with a friendly doctor but then our insurance changed and no longer worked with that doctor. (Of course.) So, I decided to try the same practice as my wife. I was not disappointed. I saw Dr. Mark Graham who heads the practice and he was great. Really friendly, listens to you, explains everything to you. Gave a lot of general counseling for a person my age. Very easy and approachable. Absolutely what I want in a doctor. I also received the same friendly and thorough treatment from the staff. They make sure to give you copies of all medical forms for your records without having to ask, etc. If they continue to take new patients I would absolutely recommend this office for anyone looking for primary care/internal medicine doctor's in South Philly.

I am a chronically ill person and accommodations are never treated as an afterthought. Because of medical neglect I faced from Vicky and Frances, I had a TUMOR in my knee go undiagnosed for five months. This was also after eight months of being on their waitlist. I was in so much pain, I was advocating for myself repeatedly, BEGGING over portal messages and voicemails for them to order me imaging for my knee, and was repeatedly left waiting for weeks on end only to be told no and that I needed to get physical therapy before I would be approved for an MRI. I finally was fed up as it got to the point I was in so much pain I couldn't walk, my knee was hot to the touch, and so swollen that I couldn't see my knee cap. I went to the ER and they said I would have to go to a sports med doc. I got a SAME DAY appointment with one (Dr. Adam Lyons at Still Medical Group was AMAZING). He called my insurance himself and got me an approved MRI the NEXT DAY!!!! Took five minutes. After my results came back and showed a tumor (not the ACL tear I thought it was) my sports med doc and both surgeons who ended up operating on me said if I had followed Frances' advice and done PT first I would have damaged my knee so intensely it may not have been repairable. Thankfully it was, but I am still dealing with ongoing chronic pain now as a result of how invasive the tumor was and how it completely took over my knee. Multiple times we were all emailed about how Vicky needed to take time off to focus on her health as she's recovering from long covid and to give her and Frances grace. I would have loved to...but then she would post photos on social media UNMASKED at crowded events. You're going to advertise yourself as a covid cautious practice, serve mostly immunocompromised and disabled folks, fuck off from providing them care, ask for patience and understanding because you have long covid... AND THEN NOT TAKE COVID PRECAUTIONS??? fucking INSANE. When I asked for a refund for the five months I waited for answers and appointments with NO help, I was given two months of a refund and never responded to again. No apology. No accountability.
