Easily as worthy as its many heritage counterpart structures in this bountiful city of wondrous architecture, it still seems like a hidden gem that gets overlooked amidst multiple world heritage sites. It is not just a beautiful building, it is one of the most photo-worthy UNESCO sites in town. Gorgeously preserved seats, wood, sculptures, stained glass, historic cafe, and don't miss those yummy balcony columns outside! There is much to love here, but if you are short on time and can only snap photos and move along, you can see it all in 20 minutes. Squeeze it in. It's one of the most beautiful buildings you've never heard of.

I was a little disappointed that during the night performance, the patio area with the famous mosaic columns was completely closed off. It's one of the highlights of the building, and I was really hoping to see it lit up at night. Apparently, it's only open during day tours, which is kind of a bummer if you're only going for a show. Also, heads up -- the main photo you see everywhere is taken from the upstairs balcony seats, so if that's the view you want, book accordingly.

The balconies curl, none of the walls are straight, and even the roof has weird shaped chimneys. I'd call this modern architecture. Who knows! This is the most chaotic architecture I've ever seen but in the best way possible. Even if you don't go in, just standing across the street and looking up is amazing!

We took our time exploring the apartments, courtyards, and attic, and it was fascinating to see how far ahead of its time the design was. Even if you're not an architecture enthusiast, it's easy to appreciate the creativity behind every corner. My favourite part was the rooftop; the famous chimney sculptures and panoramic views over Barcelona were beautiful and there were plenty of photo opportunities. The audio guide was helpful and explained the history and design very carefully and clearly. If you're planning to visit, booking your tickets in advance is a good idea since it gets quite busy, especially during the summer.

I found Palau Dalmases via EventBrite and make the reservation in advance to make sure I had a seat for my final night in Barcelona. Palau Dalmases is located near Museo Picasso which I had visited earlier that week so I felt very good being able to confidently navigate the crowded streets in search of my destination. When I stepped across the threshold I felt transported to a different time and place. The outer courtyard is charming and the staff was friendly and engaging. After taking little time to admire the architecture, I was shown quickly to my front row seat and provided with a complimentary drink which was a very nice touch. The lights dimmed and the show began with the musicians setting the atmosphere in the small and intimate space. The closest thing I can compare it to in my experience is an invocation of the spirit that one might experience in church. The cantaor (singer) and the tocaor (guitar player) drew me in from the start. By the time the Baile began I was lost in the experience. In this space their was a mixing and meeting of cultures that was so beautiful it reminded me that we humans are capable of coming together making something beautiful and meaningful when we set aside things that divide us. I can not compare this performance to other flamenco performances yet but I appreciate that this was my introduction. If you are looking for something that can be family friendly or if you are in it for a solo or couples experience I would recommend checking this out.

It boasts bold, wildly creative, unmistakable organic architecture and décor inside and out - from its melting Glory Façade to its skull-like Passion Façade to its rainforest-esque interior. Really spectacular! We came at the end of the day, and the light was flooding through the stained glass window. We also did the Bell tower which has gorgeous panoramic views of the city. You take the elevator up and then down about 300 stairs down a narrow, winding staircase. Note: Buy timed entry reservations in advance, and make sure you book on the official website: www.sagradafamilia.org. I initially got scammed by Feel the City and paid €340, instead of €140. I hate that; the scammer sites are very official looking.
