Customer service has gone downhill is all about revenue. My contact lens ordering experience has been a nightmare. I called in to order and they kept me on hold for 15min. An associate later told me that walk ins get priority even if they came in after you called. Here is the list of things that went wrong: 1) Kathy the manager told me that my prescription had expired without checking the computer first. I had two more months. 2) I wanted to order only one eye. Kathy the manager told me she I could not do it. I told her I've done it before and she did some research to tell me it was indeed possible. 3) Edith ordered the wrong contact lens brand twice. 4) When I went to return it, the associate working that day told me he was not familiar with insurance so I will have to come back the next day and waste yet more time dealing with mistakes made by the staff. Telling a patient that their prescription ia expired when it it not, ordering the wrong contacts, keeping patients on hold for 15 minutes at a time, being unfamiliar with insurance plans...... In a day and age where contacts can be ordered with the click of a mouse, this is not okay. The only reason that I came here in the first place was because I liked the customer service from Jamie Dopplett. Since He is gone, the service is not even ok...it's not the way to run an optical business. The only good thing here is Dr Faye Yap. Go to her but got to her personal office. She has her own location in Belmont. Her practice is separate even if you go to the target location. So maybe go for the eye exam and avoid getting contacts or glasses at target. Don't want to see her suffer just because the staff is incompetent. read more

The staff here is extremely helpful and I highly recommend them if you want new glasses/eye exam etc.. Lens Crafters in Hillsdale mall is NOT! Price out eye exam prices, they are much cheaper then other places. The young lady there called my insurance to find out about my coverage and was so helpful. Was worried as Dr. Nancy Lu (sp) seemed on the younger side, but she was very knowledgeable and imparted a lot of helpful information. Was able to make a weekend appointment right away. Minus one star because the Target Optical salesguy that they send you to afterwards was WAY too pushy and the optometrist's assistant kept reminding me of Jonah Hill from his Superbad days in a weird way. Also, Target dropped the ball on ordering the trial contacts the doctor had ordered for me. Had to wait longer than expected to receive them. Otherwise, it's convenient and inexpensive for an eye exam. Selection for frames themselves are limited, but if you just need to refresh your eyeglass/contact prescription to go order them again online like I do, it's a good, fast choice. read more

Dr. Yap is young, inexperienced, and seemed very unsure of herself. As a patient I felt lost and uncomfortable as she disregarding my protests about the lens being blurry. At the end of the session, I was so appalled at the prescription she came up with. I could not see at all out of one eye! Great experience(s) at this particular Target location with the Optical group. Consistently friendly and professional staff! Edith, Michael and Cathy (to name the folks with whom I have dealt as opticians and manager) all go above and beyond to be sure that I am happy with my glasses. Dr. Liu (the optometrist) is also very good. . .I am getting accustomed to my doctors being younger than I am, however, I still expect a high level of medical expertise. Dr. Liu provides it and more. She is very pleasant and takes the extra moment or two to explain various medical points. When I had vision insurance, I went to more expensive, private optical offices. Target Optical at Bridgepointe always meets and frequently exceeds the service from the private offices. For example, Target Optical adjusted the height of my bi-focal line which made a huge difference in my comfort! read more

Super happy with the professionalism, competency and manner of Hilary Chiem. We've been coming here since she started a few years ago and she's been an excellent guide to help my teenager start on contact lenses and continue as his prescription evolves. She has a very approachable demeanor and is rather knowledgeable and personable. I can't comment on the optical shop and selection of frames, as we normally purchase glasses and contact lenses online. read more

Dr.Yap and Marc Anthony was very helpful. Compare w/ my experience w/ Lenscrafter @ Hillsdale mall 2 yrs ago, I like target optical better. 1. Of cuz the price. Target is much cheaper. 2. Both staff were very friendly but I can see that Marc Anthony willin take an xtra step for customer. he clean n fix my glasses 3. Before dilation, Dr. Yap would ask me did I know what it is and ask me did I have couple of hrs tht allow me not to read (usin internet, cell phone, book, and etc...) which Lenscrafter didn't mention anything. She even ask me did i bring a sunglasses b/c it would be very bright when I go outside and she gave me a temp/ one time use sunglasses (a piece of film). only one down side, only one staff were workin so u mite need to wait. read more

My experience with Target Optical was amazing! Cathy was the person who helped us and she was wonderful and delightful. We came in without an appointment and got lucky enough to be seen with in 15 minutes. I got my prescription done for both contacts and glasses. Cathy helped me pick out the right pair of glasses so that it would look okay with the thickness my glasses would be. She also helped us get a discount and was super helpful and friendly! There is a manager named Kathy there who deserves recognition. She is great. Prior to dealing with her, I was about to abandon this target optical altogether, but she redeemed the whole experience. Kathy dealt with my warranty issue beyond what I was expecting, took responsibility for other people bungling things up, and made me feel like she was actually sorry certain accidents happened. She is beyond reasonable, so long as you are reasonable with her. Target as a company looks more accountable and fair because of how she handled me. Good work. read more

A month after I got my glasses the lens fell out. They do NOT repair any glasses for free unless you paid for the guarantee. The area around where the screw goes in that hold the lens was stripped. They would not fix it unless I paid. This was THEIR error when the glasses were made. Do not buy from them. They also give a lot of pressure to add things that cost a lot. read more

Do not go here! They are trying to sell you up! They also will not tell you all the hidden charges - After saying you should get fitted for for contacts, they mention after the fact "did we mention that is a $50 charge!." You will have to pay that before we release your records! read more

Awful service. We ordered glasses, and 2 weeks later we get a phone call saying that the glasses broke while they were trying to assemble them. After waiting a total of 21 days, we call the store, and they tell us that the glasses aren't ready. They told us to go to Daly City to get the frame. The lady that worked there was so lazy, and ended up advertising for Lenscrafters. Lenscrafters finished them in an hour. Overall, the target optical department is awful when it comes to customer service, not to mention slow. read more

Had the best eye exam here. I usually go to high priced optometrists for eye exam/glasses prescriptions but I felt unsure of the last exam I'd had. My glasses just didn't seem right. The exam i $59 but either AARP or AAA discount brought it down to $46. The doctor was very patient in answering my questions and i learned more at that exam than I had at most of the others I've had throughout my life. She did a very thorough exam. I think the doctor's name was Dr. Sui but I could be wrong. She din't have any cards (I asked0 because she's an employee there, not the owner of the optometry practice. That seems wrong since I would want to see her specifically next time I need an exam. After the exam, I asked the opticians if they would check the positioning of my glasses (I have progressives and they have to be in exactly the right place.) They did that at no charge. Would have no hesitation in going back for an exam. Note: I didn't purchase glasses there so have no idea what that part of the program is like. read more

I had a terrible experience purchasing both glasses and lenses for glasses. They have different types of lenses and it took a visit and numerous phone calls for them to tell me what the difference between the lenses were. When I purchased lenses a saleswoman named Edith was very nice, but an incompetent sales person. She did not explain that I was paying a hundred bucks to exchange regular lenses for transitional lenses. Then when I went in to pick up the lenses and wanted to take the original lenses she took out of my classes with me, I was told I could not. When I tried to take them because I understood that I had paid for them, the other salesperson told Edith to call Security. Never in my life has anything like this happened -no one has ever called security about me. Instead of explaining to me we were being charged to exchange lenses rather than having purchased new lenses, she tried to stroke my hand, instead of intelligently explaining. It still took 15 minutes to explain that I had not purchased new lenses but had only paid to exchange the previously purchased lenses for new transtitional lenses. When I say it took a long time to get an explanation, it is not that she repeated herself and I didn't listen, but rather I was bullshitted until someone finally gave me a straight answer. In a situation like this, an apology and owning up to their lack of salesmanship would have gone a long way, but that did not happen. I will never go back. read more
