I really love MetaModern Music! I heard a new vinyl shop opened just recently and been wanting to check it out. My boyfriend and I visited on a Saturday afternoon. It may be small but you will be surprise with the selections of music. Everything was categorized and easy to find. Jazz, Rock, R&B Soul, Soundtrack, Rarities, etc. I would rather go to a record shop that is not too huge. It can be overwhelming and overkill when there is way too much. My boyfriend and I found quite a few old school vinyls for reasonable price. There was even one soundtrack I was shocked to find and it was only $5.95! Definitely made my day. Besides vinyls they sell T-shirts and even turntables. They even have a listening station. The owner was very friendly on giving me tips on finding some good speakers for my new turntable I got for Christmas. LOVE this new record store in Oakley. Was so excited when I heard about it opening..it did not disappoint. It's a pretty small store overall, but the selection they pack into this small space is incredibly impressive. So many great and obscure records to choose from. Pricing is very reasonable..some used stuff for a couple bucks..new stuff for honestly lower prices than I've seen at any other record store in the area. The guy that runs the place is cool too. Seems to be pretty knowledgeable in all things music..I mean if he's the guy that stocks this great stuff than he'd have to be. Highly recommend this store to any and all music lovers in the area. I hope it sticks around for a long time..can't wait to go back! read more

Super dope shop. I actually stumbled into it while getting some steps in following my stop @ Deeper Roots coffee. The vibe was mad chill and the owner was spinning some solid tunes. Initially when shuffling through some of the rock albums I was pleasantly surprised to see some different titles that aren't super common. BUT its when I got over to Hip-Hop that my eyes lit up. One of the better selections I have seen for sure. Already regret not snagging the Chance 3 vinyl so I gotta plan another trip over here soon. Despite that mistake on my end I still left with two gems, A Love Letter To You 4 - Trippie Redd & Madvillainy - Madvillain. The latter of the two I have been looking for and never found in-store. J.C was super nice and actually sacrificed the cassette from his own collection since he had no new copies for sale at the time. Unfortunately I didn't have time to dive too deep into the smoke section. That being said it was a neat setup and I know plenty of people who would appreciate being able to pick up some smoke accessories to accompany their listening experience. Not sure why other reviews for this business say that it's in Georgia...It's in the middle of Oakley, right around the corner from Habit's. haha This vinyl record store has a small, but well-curated collection of new and used vinyl. They have a good selection of new indie vinyl, plus classic rock, funk, blues, and jazz used vinyl. If you're looking to browse, check out this store because you're more likely to find something here than in a larger store with a bigger selection but half of it is not very good. Prices are standard market prices. They also sell tie dye t-shirts, buttons, and cool hippie stuff. The owner was working the register, he was very friendly. We ended up leaving with the new Father John Misty (he threw in a 7" at no additional charge) and a Phosphorescent album. We'll be coming back! read more

He recommended some great music and then took the time to discuss various genres of music and some of the new music that is happening. It was such an enjoyable experience. Visiting a good vinyl shop is like being a kid in a candy store, you can't wait to check out all the goodies inside. MetaModern is a relatively new place, but they're definitely worth checking out. The place itself is a little on the small side, but they do NOT lack in variety. You'll find records from all genres, new and used, all for great prices. I have been looking for a shop to get into the vinyl realm for some time. I've searched Atlanta, Marietta, and Kennesaw... luck would have it that I happened into JC's shop in Woodstock, Ga. And I was sold. JC treated me like a friend and showed me all the ropes of the industry. We talked for a bit and he answered more questions than any one-man should have to. Every time I've been in the store he has greeted me like I never left. There is an amazing assortment of new and old records and always movement of the inventory, so something new to see each time. If you're looking for a place to find records, have a good conversation, and not deal with the pomposity that usually follows the record world, look no further. I was excited to visit this shop and agree that this part of town deserves a good record store. It's a pretty small space, but packed with vinyl from edge to edge and very attractively decorated. They have a decent selection of new vinyl, and the prices seem pretty consistent with Amazon or anywhere else if that's what you're looking for. Unfortunately the used selection is extremely overpriced. I found several things I wanted to buy, but in each case the albums were much more expensive than buying from Discogs (even when factoring in shipping costs). My favorite part of record collecting is flipping through used vinyl and discovering random gems, but with the prices the way they are, I can't see myself ever returning. read more

I visited this record store the other day. It's not the first time I'd gone there, and I'd actually given this store a decent chunk of my business buying records locally in the past few years. Upon walking inside, I was rudely confronted by the store owner. He claimed that I wrote him an online 1-star review for his shop due to some negative past experience. I have never written a 1-star review for him...until RIGHT NOW. While was obviously confusing me for another customer (see?! not the same accounts), his rude behavior made me feel so uncomfortable that I Ieft the store. This is not the right way to treat your customers. His record store is overpriced anyways, so I recommend taking your business to the far superior record stores in town like Shake-It or Plaid Room. Do not support this business if you value a positive environment while record shopping. read more

Dropped my record collection off Thursday Morning, made multiple phone calls on Friday did not receive a message back. Finally contacted the business owner on Saturday and was screamed at for not being patient. If you're looking to sell your record and get immediate cash take them anywhere else in Cincinnati.
