I attended a holiday dinner and Angela (Elizabeth??) was hired as a tarot card reader. Separate from the readings she provided, Angela was just nasty. She was rude, hostile and made several politically charged comments about immigrants. She made almost every person at the dinner uncomfortable simply because she was unkind. Angela brought up politics in three of the readings she gave my friends - including one where she said that RFK Jr would help cure my friend's child of autism. Wild! What I appreciate most about her style is that it is tailored to specific questions, which allows us to go deep into the matter. She was so on point on everything she said. 6 months later (which is generally the time frame of the reading) everything she said came to fruition, including a relationship that I had not expected to the detail of the hair color of the person!! I don't believe in psychics anymore, but I did have a phase over three years ago of going to psychics. I do not recommend visiting any "psychic" at all, but if you do wish to visit one, do it with some research. That being said, Angela Lucy was the only psychic I had visited around that time whose reading actually came true. I was primarily interested in asking about my love life, and I was seeing somebody at that time and hoping with all might it would work out (i.e., I liked the idea of this person more than I liked this person), and Angela flat out told me it was not going to work out because he had another woman in his life who would be coming soon after at me - every card she turned for me kept saying the same thing. She was really compassionate I remember and felt bad that it wouldn't work out according to her predictions, because I told her I really liked that guy. She predicted it would end by October or November (before the year was over), but told me not to lose faith in love since I would be married in a few years. I have a small sample size, but she was the only one who got it all right and did not feed me phony BS or overly negative stuff. I signed up here a very long time ago (2007) and had not gotten an assignment until last year. I did a few weeks of an assignment on the Upper West Side in a perfectly sane atmosphere (nothing illegal). Yes, Liz is a bit brusque but she didn't immediately look at my JD & say "I can't help you" like everyone else did. However, I have to give one star due to lack of timely payment. I understand the slow economy and being limited on cash but enough is enough! I just got what was supposed to be my last check for an assignment I finished at the beginning of November only to find that it bounced and I was charged a $15 return fee. Every other check I've gotten beforehand has been good and was on a monthly schedule before this time. She even reported having paid me in full for 2010 federal and state taxes! I have to admit when i booked the reading i did not know what to expect. It was a spur of the moment, but i was very skeptical but was important to find someone who really knew what they were doing. Tempsations is run by a woman named Liz out of her apartment in Union Square. The first time I called her, she rudely told me I was calling on the wrong day and that she only took calls on a certain day from job seekers and then hung up on me. I called back on the right day and made an appointment to meet her at her apartment. I showed up and she was wearing sweat pants and took a call in the middle of the interview to read someone's tarot cards. Don't expect a lot of professionalism or formalities in dealing with her. She did get me a long-term temp job with nice people and if it hadn't paid dirt, I might have stayed. I get the impression that most of her clients pay very little. Another job she got me, she warned me that the guy was a jerk and guess what, he was! She is sweet as can be when convincing you to take a job, but will promptly hang up on you without another word, if you politely decline. Long story short: If you are desperate, call Tempsations. I saw Angela at the Namaste bookshop. I felt that she was honest in her readings and what she says sounded convincing. Her reading however was very generic even though she ask you to ask her something. I followed up with her on another reading 2-3 months later just to see if her reading was consistent and can i say this? I was at Namaste Bookshop 2 years ago on my birthday and decided it would be fun to get a reading. Well it was with "Angela Lucy" and when I went to sit down she got really upset because the shop was supposed to have scheduled her break for that time. I said no problem - I'll just get a refund. She refused to allow me to do that and I told her she was too upset and I didn't want a reading by someone who was so clearly agitated. I gave her a chance, as she gave me no choice and I truly shook it off and hoped for the best. It was the worst most negative reading I've ever had! On my birthday! It was so upsetting! She was very negative about me - very opinionated as well - it didn't feel like a reading but her just unleashing her anger at not getting her break. I always thought psychics were supposed to focus on positive and give thoughts on negative energies coming in so you could avoid them. Instead I felt personally attacked and my reading was all doom and gloom. I was really nice and kept asking if she saw anything good - she said no. It was highly unprofessional for her to not check herself the several times I gave her a chance to realize what she was doing and that she allowed her bad mood to dictate the outcome of my reading. I felt that the store was partially at fault and told them afterward that they had booked me during her break and she was VERY upset with them and that it had vastly affected my reading. They refused to take any responsibility and did zero for me. Why am I posting a review 2 years later? i often go by the store on Tuesdays and that's one of the days she is there doing readings and it gives me horrible flashbacks of the worst reading ever. From these hot and cold reviews here and my experience she seems to let her mood dictate what kind of reading she gives so you're taking a chance if you go to her. Be forewarned.
