    Happy People! :)

One more time THANK YOU YELP OC! On the last Yelp OC event I won 2 tickets to attend The Taste of Beers, Long Beach. My partner in crime? My dear Cantonese bro John L. http://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=sy0MNBrbdFQXyyVWRoGcTQ We had a blast! and I must say that I'm the best wing-girl ever (what do you think John? ) http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/h42LAkv5oQAEzDtHt6w30w#VuJbDkU0bafhrPGmg9Cuiw Wonderful event: Great beer from a wide variety of breweries, Great music and food samples. All of this under a blue sky with the perfect Californian weather. I was in heaven! ** If you know me or have read my reviews, you know that I love beer and wine. ** We stopped by the Yelp booth and said hi to Ryan and Jaime :D They were nice and friendly as usual! From all the beers I tried these were my fav: First the classics that never fail me: - Blue moon (thanks for the glass, love it!), - Tangerine lost coast - Arrogant Bastard - Shock Top http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/h42LAkv5oQAEzDtHt6w30w?select=zuJE7rFtSXBIjGRBJLlFQA#7O9oJ73ay7JTscO6vHgDRA - NewCastle - Fox Barrell Authentic Pear and Apple cider, great brand design, friendly and knowledgeable service and awesome products. Kudos! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/h42LAkv5oQAEzDtHt6w30w?select=zuJE7rFtSXBIjGRBJLlFQA#L5U9psF3bMxvYdBOMdmz9w http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/h42LAkv5oQAEzDtHt6w30w#9D_ADQDBf7cbF5oxU_V8PA Then the ones I never tried before: - Redhead Firemans Brew - Really tasty red amber ale, kinda sweet (not too much) - Maui Brewing Co - AWESOME pineapple and coconut beer. Great marketing materials! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/h42LAkv5oQAEzDtHt6w30w?select=zuJE7rFtSXBIjGRBJLlFQA#Lc4OZoJzITdONtL9hXQE5w There were some food samples around, but the real food was from the food trucks. Komodo, dogzilla, lobsta truck and rebel bite were there. I had Dogzilla for the first time. Delish! It was so much fun to see so many cool people: Erin and Andrea, Rain and Hubby, Kelly K, Chris T, Anne A and at the end we ran into Hazel and Mr Q, great to see them as well http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/h42LAkv5oQAEzDtHt6w30w?select=zuJE7rFtSXBIjGRBJLlFQA#ZwVTFNV_2j9m-jdppnfIVA Bottom line this event is really cool, if possible I'll be back next year and I'm definitely making a pretzel necklace LOL - isn't it a great idea? This 2 gents agreed to pose for me http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/h42LAkv5oQAEzDtHt6w30w?select=zuJE7rFtSXBIjGRBJLlFQA#zuJE7rFtSXBIjGRBJLlFQA Cheers!

long lines, awesome beer, good food, good music, great CM Ryan C. thanks Lilli H. for the invite and your an awesome wing girl- the best ever lots of parking space a few block away but a nice view of the harbor and the city. long lines but well worth it, So many beer to choose from, I felt like a kid in a candy store running around and can't decide to witch one to choose from. I did find some beer to taste. I was really shock that their is such beer call ( cider beer ) it taste very fresh and full of flavor. After a few drink i was shock to find my away back for more. the food sample is great lot of Cheeses and shrimp also a sample plate of mack salad and cookie to enjoy. I saw a few people with pretzel necklace warding around. I wanted one so much, Latter i found out they bring there own to the event. I stop by the Yelp booth say hi to Ryan C. and everyone, To my surprise I got see to lot of new and old faces. That I haven't seen in a long time. It was really nice to play some game at the booth like toss the been bags and over size jenga blocks. over all this event is great I would come back again next year (hopefully with my wings Girl ) the sad part about this event is not enough water to go around But hope that change next year.

    Too much fun!

This skinny house was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records and also featured on Ripley's Believe It or Not. No signs posted just a marker in Google Maps. Per Redfin, the house is a 2 bedroom and 1 bath with roughly 860 sqft.spread out over the three floors. A permanent tiny home. I couldn't believe how skinny it was the first time I drove by it. It is in a residential area, so it's best to either drive by or walk by it. Good luck finding parking here...as anyone will tell you, we'll, those who are from Long Beach...as it is impossible to find a parking spot anywhere in this city! Naples Island is such a hidden gem in Long Beach! It used to be a swamp before developers transformed it into a charming Italian-style neighborhood -- all the streets even have Italian names. It kind of reminds me of Venice Beach, but quieter and much more upscale. The canals are lined with beautiful waterfront homes, and boats are literally parked right in front of them. During summer, you can hop on a gondola or go kayaking or paddleboarding on the canals. And in winter, this place turns magical, residents go all out with Christmas lights, and there are festive boat parades gliding through the water. (Though Newport Beach usually gets more attention, Naples definitely holds its own!) It's such a peaceful spot for a stroll, and not many tourists know about it. It's perfect if you're looking for something a little off the beaten path. One past year, Sun Bum (sunscreen) was a sponsor and held an event at the beach that ended in a movie showing. Some year before that, KCRW held a party in collaboration. This last time, I joined in the free yoga session (with RSVP). Led by Pedal Movement, bike tours are held during this time to visit the murals. The run club I'm involved in throws a couple of the murals in the downtown area being worked on into the running route during this time. Volunteer opportunities are available (such as being on site with the artist making sure they have what they need.) Look out for it next summer!

The weeklong event that originated in Hawaii has expanded out to other parts of the country and world, including its 5th year in Long Beach. I was a bit disappointed the first year or so because they brought in a lot of outside artists when there are so many talented ones here. It also seems as if there is little collaboration between the artists and the places they paint. Businesses offer their walls and artists are given the freedom to create whatever inspires them at the time. Sometimes, the pieces seem random, whereas, others perfectly reflect the feel of the establishments. This year, I was happy to see a lot more local artists represented in the community. Some of them even took the time to collaborate with either the business or Parks & Rec to design pieces that emulate the nature of the places. I live close to Drake Park and was happy to see 3 artists beautifying it by adding more color and character. By request from neighborhood folks, Crisselle Mendiola and Jason Keam added butterflies to match the playground while Bodeck Luna depicted young people shooting hoops along the wall facing the basketball court. Another highlight from Pow! Wow! Long Beach was the closing party in the Promenade. I absolutely loved that KCRW DJs Mathieu Shreyer and Anthony Valadez came and served us some eclectic dance music. I can't wait to see what's in store next year!
