    Oyster
    Han Mia D.

We came here because I was craving oysters. The only downside is that parking around the area is really difficult, so be prepared to spend some time looking for a spot. The oysters were served with a sauce already on them, which wasn't my preference since I like adding my own. Thankfully, the manager was quick to help and had them changed. I really appreciated the excellent customer service. The steak was flavorful, and the pasta was absolutely delicious--my husband and I both loved it. Overall, I'm giving this place 4 stars. The food and service were great, but the parking situation is definitely a challenge.

We chose Ellie's to celebrate two of our best friends getting married and it was the perfect spot! Everything we ordered was delicious! When you go, def order: Bone Marrow Board, Shrimp & Melon Salad, Rillettes Crostada, Chicken Piccata, Pappardelle, and the massive Short Rib Al Pastor. And remember to save room for the Strawberry Cake and Panna Cotta! The food was incredible, fantastic service, and we loved Ellie's atmosphere with their outdoor seating. Would be a great place for a date night or any celebration. We'll definitely be back!

My colleagues were raving about this place for their fresh oysters on the HH menu so last month, a few of my other colleagues finally got a chance to stop by on a Friday during their HH. We made a reservation for outside for 6 and had such a wonderful time. Food was incredible and the scallop and oysters were so yummy! We ordered two dozens of each! I was surprised by how small the restaurant is, inside. I think the best seats in the house are outdoor! Service was a bit slow but we didn't mind because food was incredible! I really like the melon and shrimp salad also. My colleagues really enjoyed the pasta dish and the bone marrow cheese plate and the fish and chips. Overall, good food and would come back for their fresh seafood options!

So glad that I finally stopped by Ellie's. This place is great! Loved their happy hour (oyster menu) headed by $1.50 oysters and $3.50 scallops. The oysters were good but the scallops were great! We ended up staying for dinner and I am sure glad that we did. We ordered the Shrimp and Melon dish, and what in the world? Amazing!! Closed with their Mafaldine with spicy sausage. Everything here was fantastic. I will be back.

Definitely enjoyed my food! Loved everything. My waiter Tim was very attentive, I enjoyed our conversation, and will always remember. I like briny oysters, but the ones I had were a tad too- but it's ok! Pasta was tasty! The layout was nice with a touch of elegance.

Oysters and scallops with a glass of sparkling rose.

We had an amazing dinner at Ellie's. Everything we ordered was fantastic. We had the oysters, scallops, bone marrow, and a beautiful pasta dish, and there really wasn't a miss. The food paired perfectly with the wine. We ordered a sparkling rosé from the restaurant and also brought our own bottle of red, which made for a great evening. The service was excellent as well, friendly, attentive, and added to the overall experience. We also really appreciated being able to bring our dog and enjoy dinner together out on the patio. Great food, great wine, great service, and a wonderful atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

I do say I love every restaurant I review, but Ellie's is my favorite place. There are a few obstacles when getting to this restaurant such as, limited parking and it being located near Ocean Blvd.; it's still worth the obstacles I face when getting here !!!!!!! & this is coming from a person who is maxed out laziness. I do have to round the block a few times for parking but this place is worth the drive and terrible parking. I am also a person of habit so I will always get the same dish as a precaution. Ellie's is one of the few places where I like every item from their menu. I am lazy to look for other food pics from Ellie's so here are three pics from my most recent visit. My favorite that is not pictured is the gnocchi. I crave it so often, I try to replicate it until I return back to Ellie's For the price, this place is $$$. Especially because when you are having a rich pasta, you MUST get the wine to go with it. Everything from here does add up but it's worth every obstacle (centralizing theme within this review). Servers are amazing and beautiful people. They are always in a genuine great mood that makes the dining experience great. Though the inside of the restaurant is small, there is plenty of tables on its patio. The patio is on the sidewalk, which I normally hate because restaurants typically lack in service and ambience when seated outside. Not for Ellie's, service and ambience is even better outside. I find it too stuffy and crowded inside the restaurant.

I was so excited to try this place after hearing great things but it was just okay. I came for the lunch prix fixe. We got the Caesar salad which I was let down by; flavor was lacking and the croutons were so hard I thought my tooth would break. We also got the brussel sprouts which were amazing; cooked to perfection and the sauce was phenomenal. We got the mafaldine pasta which hardly tasted like a vodka pasta, I compared the flavor to a thin, unseasoned tomato soup. The pasta itself was great but the base was not. We also got the tagliatelle which made up for the disappointing mafaldine. The pasta was the perfect texture, flavor was amazing, and the fishy shrimp took it to the next level. The included dessert was a panna cotta which was good but nothing to write home about. The interior did not feel like an authentic Italian restaurant and was drab/dry. Typical white/gray interior that takes away the authenticity of a restaurant. Lastly, there were several large flies, which I understand may not the restaurants fault but one did land in my wine which they did quickly replace. I would definitely think twice about coming back here and would only order the brussel sprouts and tagliatelle. Staff was nice and friendly.

Parking is street parking only, so definitely give yourself extra time to find a spot. I'd also highly recommend making a reservation since the space is small & busy. The restaurant has a cute, no-fuss decor style that still feels cozy and elevated. We sat inside, which seemed like a much nicer vibe than the outdoor seating. Service was fast and friendly throughout the meal. I ordered the chittara pomodoro, which was so tasty and clearly tasted homemade in the best way. For dessert, we had the panna cotta, which was the perfect light and creamy ending to the meal. Overall, such a charming little spot for a cozy dinner.

Had such a great experience at Ellie's! Arrived Friday night @ around 7:30pm thinking the wait would be long but luckily we only waited about 20 minutes :) Ordered the brussel sprouts 5/5 so good Tagliatelle 4/5 so creamy and flavorful Angel hair 5/5 nice and light but so yummy! This one was my fav bc you can rlly taste the pasta they made. Street parking only, I would suggest coming really early before your dinner plans to find a spot. The parking is always hard in Long Beach unless you get lucky.

Food: Thank you to our waitress for recommending the lunch prix fixe! With the option of a salad or veggie an entree, my partner and I settled for the Roasted Cauliflower, Shrimp & Melon salad, Tagliatelle and Gnocchi, which were all very wonderful, with a nice flavor balance, to say the least. The meal also came with dessert, per chef's choice--this time it was a panna cotta that was to die for! Instantly became a fave. Service: Great! Always attended to, and food came in at a reasonable pace. Ambiance: Casual. Monochromatic interior, putting the focal point on the food. Parking: Street parking is available, but can take a minute to find a spot during peak hours.

Came before 4 when just the oyster menu was available...so glad it was because this food was amazing! The Ellie Burger was delicious with everything on it, even as a plain eater I loved the sauce. Fish and chips were light, crunchy, not too heavy - would come back again for just this. Excellent service, shout out to our server Giovanni, so nice! Great music outdoor seating with plenty of shade in this breeze...we could stay here all day!

Let me say this was a surprise , a good one. A small restaurant tucked along the neighborhood blocks from the beach. I've seen it a few times but never had the chance to try it out. It was on the list but something alway came up and we never made it. Well, we happened to walk by and was like what the heck. We're here let's try it out. It's a small restaurant with a nice cool clean beach vibe inside and a simple patio just outside with tables and heatlamps. We arrived just after happy hour which they're known as oyster hours. And let me say, the name explain itself. There were only three tables utilized when we arrived at the patio but by the time we ordered, it was completely full. People arriving minutes after each other and I'm sure it was for oyster hours. Self explanatory, oyster happy hours. For 1.50 a piece, that can't be beat. Pretty much every table had a dozen or so. Besides that, they also had a good happy hour menu on both drinks and meals. Also the regular dinner menu was quite impressive. A mixture of everything. But we were here for happy hours. House wines were 8.00 a glass and a dozen oysters were shared. They were quite tasty and served with horseradish and cocktails sauce. Simple eats but very delicious. We could have had more but we already had plans for dinner. Looking around, everyone had oysters on their table. The main attractions as it's known. Besides that, all the other dishes that were coming out all looked amazing. Fish and chips and their salads looked quite delicious. Service was excellent. The gentlemen that was taking care of everyone was excellent. Extremely friendly and professional as well as busy taking care of everybody. Just from this first visit, I must say it was great. Now I know what oyster hours is all about and finally nice to try it out. Next time, a meal. Highly recommend.

Everything feels clean, classy and thoughtfully put together. When you first arrive, seeing the line out the door can be a little intimidating. Usually at places like this, I feel like I have to fight for my life to find a table, but thankfully that wasn't the case here. The staff was very kind and asks how many are in your party and helps you get a table, which made everything much less stressful. They also give you menus while you wait so you can decide what you want ahead of time. We arrived at 10:30am and our wait was about 30 minutes so by the time we were able to order at 11am, the lunch menu was also available. I ordered the tater tots, Cinnagave Shaken Espresso, Dutch Baby Pancake and country sourdough toast with jam. With tax and tip, my total came out to around $40. It's definitely pricier than what I normally pay for breakfast. Most entrées range from $17-$34 and coffees are around $5-$10, so you can easily spend $30+ for one person. In these hard times, that's not exactly ideal for me. I also wanted to try a pastry to get the full experience, but when I found out the small blackberry danish was $7, I decided to pass. I just couldn't justify getting that close to $50 for breakfast for one person. Now for the food! The country sourdough toast with jam was actually my favorite item. The homemade sourdough was incredible and honestly deserves its roses. It sounds like such a simple thing, but it was so well done and easily the standout for me. Visually, the Dutch Baby Pancake was beautiful and definitely impressive when it came out. I've always wanted to try one, so I was excited! I will say, I've read everywhere that Dutch babies are supposed to have more of a custardy center and even the photos I've seen look that way. Mine didn't really have that texture at all and tasted more like a crepe. Maybe it was a little overcooked? It wasn't bad, just not quite what I expected. Still delicious! Unfortunately, the tater tots were the biggest disappointment. They weren't crispy, didn't taste seasoned and sort of fell apart until they became one big potato mess. My cousins and I ended up not finishing them. One of my cousins ordered the summer peach and corn salad, which she liked! Just a heads-up that it's only available after 11 a.m. My other cousin got the skillet, she mentioned feeling a little disappointed since it tasted a little dry and didn't finish her plate. However they both ordered the Curious George drink and LOVED it! The Cinnagave Shaken Espresso was also fantastic. Coffee is definitely something they do very well here and I can see myself getting again. Overall, the aesthetics are adorable and I could see this being a great date spot. The coffee was fantastic, the sourdough was amazing, but the rest of the food was just okay for us. That was a little disappointing because everything sounds SO good on paper. Maybe we just caught them on an off day. The prices are probably the biggest thing holding me back from coming back regularly. Spending $30-$40+ per person for breakfast isn't really in my budget right now, but if this is within your price range, you may have a completely different experience. When I review a place, I try to take the overall experience, personal taste and effort into account. For now, I'm leaving Zuzu's Petals at 4 stars because the effort is definitely there, and what isn't my cup of tea may be someone else's liquid gold. I'd still give them another chance in the future... after I get paid!

I never expected to find stellar cocktails and wings inside of a hotel, but you truly never know…read more Let's start with the cocktails; they are KILLING it. The menu has a ton of really detailed options, each drink with its own depth. The menu changes seasonally but what doesn't change is the smoked old fashioned - a must-order. They smoke your drink in a glass container using applewood chips; it's quite a show and it also does make the drink much more enjoyable. Ask the bartender and they can also help guide you to a drink - I've done it a couple of times and always pleasantly surprised. Next up, the food! The hummus was very flavorful and paired with an amazing fluffy pita bread. The truffle fries were solid but the plate was HUGE, definitely needs a friend to share. The Nashville wings are the star of the show. I cannot stress this enough, this is worth a DRIVE for. The seasoning really does remind you of Howlin' Rays (the highest compliment) and the chicken is extremely crispy yet insanely juicy. The pickles and ranch that it comes with pairs so well. Do note that they are tossing it in pork fat, which enhances the depth but also makes it a little greasy at the end. I also wished they'd warn you this and offer to order it without it; especially for those who don't eat pork or for those trying to cut some calories. There's a happy hour menu too!!! So you can get drinks and food even cheaper. I cannot stop thinking about this place. It's such a sleeper. Head to Midnight Oil after a visit to continue your night.

The open atrium with high…read moreceilings and large windows looks impressive, but in the early afternoon the sun made the space feel warm and greenhouse-like. The bartender was excellent. He went into the kitchen for fresh berries, muddled them with Tito's and soda, and made a genuinely refreshing summertime drink that helped with the heat...! I eventually ordered the Crispy Shrimp & Calamari to eat as my main (I was dining alone). I had recently had a very notable version of the same dish at a Canopy by Hilton in Washington DC, and unfortunately, this one did not measure up. The breading was average and the sweet chili aioli was poor. I asked for ranch instead, which was an improvement but still not great. The portion itself was fine. Service was solid and friendly! I'd rate the staff around a 4. Based on the food I had, the kitchen lands closer to a 2.5 to 3. Fine if you're already in the hotel and want something casual, but not an amazing choice for the fried seafood.
