What a great way to start summer. Lots of good music drinks and just lots of fun Everything we ate was spot on. It's a great time to try new things for half the price.

From taste of Cincinnati event. Food a little pricey compared to portion but delicious! Nice weather, family friendly. Seems to have expanded more vs. prior years Vendors are accommodating.

Yay Taste of Cincinnati! This is a yelpers dream!!! So much yummy food and the best from Cincinnati all in small affordable portion sizes perfect for grazing. There is alcohol. There is awesome food. There are free samples. There are fun and games to be had. This is one event I look forward to consistently every single year. This event is the perfect opportunity to try good from restaurants you haven't made it to yet. I encourage all my Yelp friends to attend. It's a blast!

Hold up!! Wait a minute!! Did I just get lucky coming into the city for work and have this awesome event happening during my stay?? I never get this lucky!! But sure,, lets check out what culinary delights this wonderful city has to offer. Little plates from different restaurant stalls ranging from $3 - $6. There's not just food, there's also beverages as well. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Summer is definitely in full effect, and there is no better drink than that of a refreshing craft beer. You also get free things from all the sponsor booths, like my measuring spoons from esTate Parm. I also got some free stickers from 5hr Smenergy and a rubber band bracelet from that Duck factory. Yes!!! Who doesn't like free stuff. Anyways, I had an amazing time eating and drinking my way up and down the street during this fun filled festival. Thank you very much for the experience.

Sunny hot day brought out the crowds

Food festivals are hot right now, so Cincy has to have one too. This was a very fun event that brought out a big crowd on a sunny, hot Memorial Day weekend to one of the nicer stretches of downtown on Fifth Street east of Main. Taft Theater and P&G headquarters are along the route. Both restaurants and food trucks were set up to offer small plates at $2-6 per serving. It adds up pretty quickly, and most places take cash only, so come prepared. Some vendors were handing out freebies as well. We picked up a Sichuan marinade kit for cooking chicken and such at home, which we will definitely try. Best freebie was easily the duck bacon. There were also lots of beer and booze vendors, but people were controlling themselves pretty well while we were there. Maybe it gets more sloshed towards evening. Lots of entertainment going on as well, with multiple stages set up for bands and dance troupes. Make time for it if you're in town for Memorial Day.

Food, fun, booze, and a couple thousand of the nicest people on the planet. It's a great way to spend a day off in the sun! Good food and fare from many of the local restaurant favorites. $4 - $6 will get you a taste of most restaurants' popular cuisine, or a small sandwich. Iced Tea was $5 / glass. Water was scarce. In 45 min, we blew through $40, sharing tastes, with no alcohol, so be prepared to spend at least twice that. Our favorites were Sammy's bacon jelly slider, Maple Leaf Farms duck breast bacon, and Habañero's Baja Fish Tacos. The Arepa Place's Arepa and Pompilio's Cannoli were probably the two biggest disappointments - bland and boring. We are looking forward to next year, when we can spend more time and eat more food, now that we know what to expect and how to prepare; learn from our experience: - Park in Taft Garage and come up through the Westin - Wear a hat - Forget how your hair looks - pony it. You're gonna sweat - Bring ice water - Wear sunscreen - BRING CASH - Wear comfy shoes - Saddle up with patience (it's crowded and people move slowly, when they're moving at all) - Very few folks in Cincinnati know how to make a true empanada - skip them and save the room for other things - You can't go wrong with street tacos - PACE YOURSELF - Come hungry, but hydrated - Head straight for the Duck Breast Bacon I can't stress this enough - Come prepared with a hat and sunscreen! Even at 79°, it was a scorcher on the streets! Enjoy, Cincinnati!!

Great festival. It takes place every year on the Memorial Day weekend and is country's longest running culinary arts festival. They block the 5th street and a couple of streets around that to make place for all the food stalls. We went there on a Saturday evening and it was buzzing with thousands of people. The variety of food is enormous - Asian, Mexican, Italian, South American, Mediterranean, Russian, German, Indian and of course, native American. There are a good amount of vegetarian options as well. However, when it comes to vegan food, the choices are way too limited. We tried Fried Pierogi from the Oasis-Russian Fusion and it was great. It's basically a potato and caramelized onion mix stuffed into a semi-circle shape crust with some oil (I believe olive oil) drizzled over it. In addition, we also tried Son-in-law eggs from a Thai counter. Son-in-law eggs are basically soft boiled egg deep fried and placed on a bed of rice with some tamarind sauce, chili, garlic, and shallots. Son-in-law eggs have a history in Thailand where it is made by a mother-in-law for her son-in-law if she feels that her daughter is not been treated well by the son-in-law. The eggs symbolizing his balls, suggesting that it will be fired just like these eggs if he doesn't watch his behavior. We also tried the two potato samosa from the Injoy - Indian inspired street food. They were good - nothing so amazing that demands $5 for a samosa. In addition to food, there were many options for beers - craft, drought and more. The Kentucky Kolsch style from one of the "The Beer of Bourbon Country" stalls was great. In addition to food, there was live music on multiple locations and some play areas for kids. Other basic facilities like restrooms, ATM machines etc were also there at multiple places. Overall, a great festival that you must attend.

Fried food, beer, and a random inflatable prize from the Midway. This pretty much sums up Taste of Cincinnati.

Not only was the amount of food a total bummer, but the lines because of the lack of food was atrocious. We are talking hour wait times from line to getting your food. It was an organizational nightmare as lines whipped around into other lines and through the grass and roads surrounding. The lack of local beer was also very apparent. They had miller light, coors, and one "craft beer booth/tent" that had a few local madtree cans and then some bigger craft beer names. Again, a total disappointment for an event of this caliber. I don't know if the sponsors weren't getting a lot out of this and decided not to participate this year or if the people organizing this event just weren't really pitching/selling the event hard enough to get sponsors. Either way with as much going on as Cincinnati has - I would not recommend this festival. The only saving grace was being a 90's babies and hearing blessed union of souls and even that was a disappointment as they played mostly cover songs of other peoples music.

This year the music was still good and the reason for receiving any stars. The "Taste" piece is where it missed the mark. There were barely any food options, and of the small selection of choices the lines were super long. I guess that was due to the fact there wasn't much to choose from. What happened Blue Ash? It was more of a festival than a "Taste". This is a family tradition we love going to to and this year was just unfortunate....

And, since it was indoors, they were able to offer more tickets for everyone to come and see the event. In addition to that, there were about three-four shows for each day the event occurred, (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Getting to Taft Theatre was pretty easy, and since there wasn't a game going on that weekend it wasn't super crowded in downtown Cincinnati. Parking lots were easy to find. Once you parked, the block party they had in front of Taft Theatre was easy to get to. There were about five or six food trucks, and lots of activities for kids. There was even police presence throughout the festival. This year, you were able to get a wristband ahead of time once they scanned your ticket to expedite getting into the Theatre. But really, it was pretty easy to get in even without getting a wristband ahead of time. They did a great job at handling the crowd before the show. Once inside, it was easy to find your seat. The show started on time which was great! And, it was only 45 minutes which is long enough to be able to enjoy the music, but short enough that all the kids in the audience would not get bored. Seeing the light show indoors was nice, because the lights came out more vibrant compared to watching it outside projected onto a wall. And, you had assigned seating, so you didn't have to worry about saving your seat ahead of time. If you didn't want to pay to see the show, they also broadcasted it outside where the block party was. Overall this year's event was enjoyable. They had some technical difficulties leading up to the event, but it was solved by the time the event started. (The company they used to email the etickets to everyone somehow had their emails come up as spam so a majority of people did not get their tickets by the Monday it was promised. They updated their website letting people know that they were working with finding a new company to send out everyone's etickets. The tickets were delivered on Thursday night).

What was a crazy mass of people grabbing for as many chocolate treats as possible has only gotten crazier. Our first visit saw a fighting chance. Now, talking to vendors to learn about them, and their craft is nearly impossible. The stream of people keeps pushing forward, and one gets swept away from the booths. As the event has grow, this has continued to be the case. (All pre COVID, not sure how this will be safely handled in the future.) While we have tried some amazing treats, thus introducing us to some amazing local businesses, it is hard to truly enjoy the experience. Chocolate should be savored. It is hard to do that here. The only exception is the children's play area. This is consistently a ghost town. My children have enjoyed playing the games, gettibg balloons, or whatever else has been offered. The area is kind of like a section of an elementary school carnival.

My only complaint is that the later it gets in the day the more congested the event is. We arrived right when it opened and that was a VERY wise decision. We were kind of crammed together with loads of other pushy people right before we left and that was not ideal. We also upgraded to tickets that included the Bella Luna lounge and wine tasting. This was a great value. Bella Luna provided small bites of (not chocolate) food like pasta and bruchetta. There were 5 wine tastings included in the price and they were very generous pours. And this is pretty much like it sounds; the kids raced rocks down a track, and the rock that rolled the farthest won. This ended up being both of my kids, who won in their age groups. There was lots of food to choose from. The donuts and popcorn were my kids' favorites. We checked out the demolition derby and the 4H competitions with the livestock. Then we took in some rides. The $15 per person admission is a bit steep but seems more doable when you consider it includes all rides. They also had country music playing which REALLY didn't make it feel German at all. Cmon Braxton! Get it together, you call this a German Festival?? It felt rushed, and Hodgepodge. Also, why is it only on one street! Mainstrauss is huge and used to have vendors and shops and food all the way down to the fountain. I give it 2 stars. Maybe it'll grow, but this should be a way bigger event with rides and more games and activities for families and kids, like it used to be in the 90s and 2000s. Yet, given Cincinnati's unpredictable spring weather, chances are pretty good that there will at least be scattered showers, scaring away half of the crowd to a number that's manageable. Drinkers, your best bet is to purchase a collectors mug, which can be refilled at vendors' booths for a discount over individual beer price. And you're making Mother Nature proud. The beer selection is mostly domestic (unfortunately), but Warsteiner's there to keep things semi-authentic. Oompa bands and men in Lederhosen rock the crowd Bavarian style, but if that's not your style you can pop into any of the MainStrasse bars for more contemporary jams. There will invariably be someone who can't hold their liquor and will embarrass themselves terribly in front of a crowd of 150,000. But you'll walk away with a renewed sense of Schadenfreude. Prost!
