There were plenty of parking (free!) when we got there around 7pm. Oh and not only do they provide plates..but there are also water stations along the way to fill your cups with water! cools! I can't wait for next year... my friends and I have already decided to make this an annual event!

For actual food food, we gorged on Brazilian BBQ, thai, indian, sushi, burgers, and much, much more! For dessert, we had ice cream, tiramisu, cupcakes, pastries, and caramel apple slices (they were giving out WHOLE ones but started to run out...darn!) My favorite food vendors were Porto's and Haagen Dazs. I kept going back for more ice cream, and ended up getting three scoops of three different flavors. Mmm. I had a scoop of Half Baked from Ben and Jerry's too. And along with the Porto's desserts I ate, I took home a creme brulee, red velvet cupcake, and a hard candy apple. YES I AM A GREEDY, GREEDY LITTLE GIRL, muahaha! I was disappointed with Kabuki's offerings. And honestly, you know what a CPK pizza tastes like...I tended to stray away from the generic chains and tried some of the more "exotic" goodies that I wouldn't normally try. Portions are just the right size too, I think. You don't get TOO full before you've tried all you want to try. Then you can go back for seconds of the things you want. Yelp was awesome enough to also include tickets to the beer and wine garden, so the boyfriend enjoyed that. You get 5 samples of 4oz. cups of beers or wine. What I wish I had known beforehand: -You can get blue plastic plates at a table up front...it reduces waste and gives you more room to get more samples! But they ran out by the time I got there. -Parking is a *$#(%)*$ (but free!) -Gotta get the whole apples while you can -Take your time. I was running around and stressing out for the first 30 minutes thinking that the lines would take forever and then the vendors were going to run out of food...they won't, don't worry! So enjoy and TAKE YOUR TIME! Major props to the city of Burbank for putting this event on...I can't wait for next year's!! And I will be certain that the $20-30 ticket price (that goes to the Burbank YMCA) will be TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Since we went with a group rate, $100 per person. This year, they have better chefs, mostly from LA. In addition, there is no longer limit one plate per person per station. So, you can return to your favorite stations as many times as you want. Due to the rain (just happened on this day!) the out door tables were not useable. So, there were limited tables in door. JetBlue did give out a paper tray to carry your food and drinks. There were also many drink station with beers, wines, mixed drink, etc. There were plenty of food except desert stations. There were only 3 desert stations with Du's donut by Wylie Dufresne, the most popular one which ran out of food 1 hour before closing. Over all, food is much better this year and coming out in good pace. For so many people, it is impressive for the chefs to put out delicious and beautiful dishes! They also had photo booth with professional photographers for everyone which was really fun! Yep, we are coming back next year!

It's kind of like DineLA on a much smaller scale, and only featuring dessert places. During the first six days of Dessert Week (this year Oct 9-14), select dessert shops around Los Angeles offered special deals, discounts and menu items for dessert connoisseurs like me to try! The week then culminated with the Top 25 Desserts coming together for a Dessert Festival where attendees could come and try samples from all the places in one designated area. This year it was held on Saturday, Oct 15 @ Pershing Square in DTLA. Being dessert addicts (no joke, we have 10 pints of artisanal ice cream in our fridge at all times), my bf and I were stoked and bought tickets online ahead of time. They had 3 ticket tiers: GA - $15: Entry to the event and lets you sample from 10 vendors of your choice. VIP - $25 (what we got): All the perks of GA plus sampling from all 25 vendors, and early entrance and hour before GA. VIP Group Package - $85: Get a private cabana with couches, table and a server for your party. We definitely recommend getting the VIP passes we got since we were allowed to get in an hour early and beat most of the lines, and also got to sample from all of the vendors! The VIP Group Package was way overpriced IMO and when we looked at the cabanas there, literally nobody was sitting in them (even though they said they sold all but 3 of the available cabanas). Upon entry, we were confused which line to stand in because they kinda merged into one. They needed bigger signage explaining where to line up for VIP vs GA tickets. Also, no tickets were sold at the door. They needed to be purchased online ahead of time. Once inside, we were given a sampling card (looked like a Bingo card) where each vendor could sign off before you received a sample from them. It kinda reminded me of going to Costco and eating all of the samples, except this time all the samples were desserts. All of the vendors had their own tents, but they were close together and the lines also ran into each other at several of the smaller areas. I also don't think the sampling card thing was the most efficient. Booths that were understaffed had a hard time managing signing off cards while handing out samples at the same time. The biggest annoyance/con IMO was the LACK OF TRASH CANS! I could not understand why they didn't have a trash can for each booth. A lot of the time my hands were so full of empty sample cups and I had to walk around Pershing Square trying to find a trash can because there was only one located like every 50 feet. It was super annoying and inconvenient. It was cool how the vendors offered a variety of different desserts, like pastries, cake, gelato, ice cream, etc. I am personally an ice cream connoisseur, but it was cool branching out and trying dessert spots I had never been to before. Everyone working at the vendors was super friendly and they all looked excited to be there! At the end of sampling, you were able to vote for your favorite so one business would be crowned winner of Dessert Week LA. My bf and I didn't really care about it so we didn't vote and aren't really sure who won, haha. For $25, we sampled desserts from 25 LA-based dessert vendors and were surprisingly very full! I liked that this festival wasn't SO HUGE that it was annoyingly packed and the lines weren't obnoxiously long. They did a good job for their first year, although there are definitely things they can improve on in the future. I would definitely be interested in going next year to try new vendors and desserts!

Like the 1st LBBWF, (I know---sounds like a dating site acronym for a lesbian big-boned white female), this one was full of super-friendly vendors passing out yummy food and strong tasty beverages with a smile. Like the 1st LBBWF, (I know---looks like something a teenager would text to you as she was driving), this one had great bands (shout out to the band covering Tonight You Belong to Me, aka the love song from the Jerk). And like the 1st LBBWF, (I know-- sounds like a German bank or defunct wrestling league) this one had plenty of security, trash cans, event staff and porti-potty. Bonus: loved the instant photo booth that instantly provided digital networking and physical prints. Unlike the 1st LBBWF, (I know---sounds like a fart through a tight wet chamois) this one was SOLD OUT and at maximum capacity, so it was in great need of line management. It was hard to tell where lines ended. It was hard to tell if someone was in line or just chilling on the same axis. Lines unintentionally forked, or spilled into the well-intentioned but horribly placed cornhole game. Lines bled together like teenage twin sisters on their cycle. That said, we love La Beeby Woof. We happened to be volunteers and we were pouring a couple of South African blends and an Austrian Grüner Veltliner. I like how this event had some unusual offerings instead of sticking with the safe and middle-of-the-road. After our shift, we got to try other wines, beers, and even cider from Honest Abe. My wife is vegetarian, and it was World Vegetarian Day, but we didn't leave hungry thanks to a number of restaurants that were able to accomodate us. Michael's had pizza and baked ziti, both the Federal Bar and the Brass Lamp had macaroni and cheese, and George's Greek Cafe had spinach poppers. If only the food lines hadn't been so long, we would have been able to try other victuals such as Bo-Beau's mini pretzels. I liked the timing of this event. I think more beer and wine festivals should be held at night instead of during the day. The entertainment was better than what we're used to as well. Hopefully Ted Z and the Wranglers will play some gigs near us soon. Add the Promenade Beer and Wine Festival to the list of what makes Long Beach so great. My wife and I got to meet a lot of people during our shift, and everyone was surprisingly cool. Maybe we belong in Long Beach!

The event is only for few hours, so I hope they promote it early on so we can create an "event" and mark our calendars for upcoming years. This happened in late March, and although I had family matters to take care of, I wanted to write a review and share how delightful everything was! This is what the name suggests, a wine walk through the participating shops in Montrose. We loved the walk and talk, and sipping of many excellent quality wines. (A list of the shops and the wines they were serving came printed in the brochure!) Of the many stores, I have to say Gio's Baguettes stood out, as they were sampling delicious little bites along the wine! Woohoo for Gio's and Montrose shops! Can't wait to go back again next year!

It also would have been nice for every store participating to have some sort of marker so we weren't always having to look at the map. It was the first one so I'm sure the kinks will be worked out next year. It was a lot of fun and we'll be there again next year.

Best festival by far that I've ever been to…read more Not only are the selection of film top quality but the panel discussions meet ups networking and best of all opening and closing night parties and award ceremonies are the best I've been to. You can tell the owners and people that run this festival want all of the people who come to have a five star experience because they treat you like royalty and want you to have a really great time! I am currently nursing a very full tummy and figured maybe I can type away a few calories... Plate by Plate is Project by Project's annual tasting benefit. They partner with one charity every year (this year it was Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team) and hold this big event where 50+ restaurants, vendors etc sponsor and support. I had actually heard about this organization and event from friends in the area but have never had the chance to attend. But then lucky me saw Yelp was giving away a pair of tickets and thought might as well try for it! Hubs and I were in need of a date night and I thought: if by some stroke of luck we get the tickets then we have no excuse but to get a sitter and have our first real date night in 16 months. Fast forward and obviously we won the tickets! We dusted ourselves off and dug out some "nice" clothes (yah, those nice clothes quickly go into some lost vortex once a baby enters your orbit) and made our way to the CA Science Center. It took us a bit of trial and error finding where to go (it seemed everyone else knew where to park but us - even though we both mapped and went onto their site looking for parking info). When we got there though it was super easy to get in and we were off and running to get food and check things out. Over 50 vendors were there (some of the best restaurants in LA: Patina, Bestia, Picca, Kazu Nori, Faith & Flower...) along with a beer garden, photo booth, silent auction and plenty of libations. Aside from the handrolls at Kazu Nori (which had a 30-45 minute wait), all the booths were churning out quality food at a fast rate. My favorites were Restauration's grilled octopus, Fishing with Dynamites Tuna Bread, Mardi's Coconut Pineapple Sorbet, Vivviane's grilled marinated shrimp...but honestly everything was top quality goodness. Everyone was having a blast mingling and wandering from little plate to plate...often going for seconds or thirds to their favorites with plenty of food to go around. It was a perfect night too - not too cold or hot - in a beautiful venue filled with people there to support a great cause and one another. I had a blast and look forward to what they do next year!

Jean L won tickets as I am her guest. Some of the booths still setting up as DJ LaLa Land spins some tunes. Seems like a lot of space to work with in the large area. It's a long hallway area from the entrance. Once everyone lays out their yoga mats, those who are not participating try to walk around everyone. This is a great use of space in front of the stage for the first mediation session and then a yoga session. I would set it up next time with the stage at the back wall so everyone doesn't get stepped on as they set up in front of the stage in that area. Them Balls cooking up some balls for your mouth for $10. 1987 Juices selling bottles at $7. Hydration vitamins through IV and vitamin B shots available for purchase. There's a booth with salads near the entrance you could purchase. Happy Ice selling Italian ice for $4. Very generous servings too. I think this is a good inaugural festival but definitely a lot to learn from for the next one. There was a lot of noise during the mediation session and the yoga session was upbeat music. Felt like I should have been dancing instead of working on another yoga pose. The 1987 Juices were sold out before the first musical performance.

Administratively the check in process was smooth and very friendly and I was able to stop by the Yelp table as well to check in on Yelp and get a bit of Yelp swag and take a selfie by their really vibrant backdrop. When I was walking by some of the vendors, there was some variety including body scrubs, IV hydration, and food. However, when I swung by the 1987 Juice booth they told us that they actually had sold out of all their product. It's unfortunate that the organization holding the event did not bring a sufficient supply of their product that would last the entirety of the event (or at least halfway through). It was definitely a different experience. Thanks to Yelp for being the highlight of the event haha!
