The food is great. It's a small restaurant in downtown Guelph but the best food. Try the special of the day :)

After a busy day of sightseeing, we wanted some yummy food to take back to our hotel and eat in the…read moreroom. After looking on Yelp, we decided on Pai Northern Thai. The menu had several vegetarian/vegan options plus all other options. I ordered online and it was ready when we got there. I asked for some bowls and cutlery and got some. Everything was packed well and still warm when we got back to our room.

Yummy Thai food with fresh ingredients…read more For two people we got the papaya salad w/dried shrimp, Khao Soi w/shrimp, and pad gra prow w/crispy pork. We ordered medium spicy for the papaya salad and it only had a slight kick. I wished the salad portion was more as it was gone pretty quickly. It comes with shrimp chips, pork rinds, and 2 small bundles of rice noodles. The dried shrimp in the salad was very chewy though, which made it a bit less enjoyable. I ended up picking them all out. We ordered spicy for the pad gra prow but it wasn't spicy at all. I think you can ask for the Thai chilis/ Thai chili fish sauce thing on the side but we decided we were fine with no spicy. Unfortunately the crispy pork was not crispy at all and was also very chewy. Overall it was still delicious! The Khao soi mightve honestly been the least favorite, but it was still good. It is on the sweeter side. The egg noodles were cooked al dente and had a nice chew. Sometimes when I get Khao soi it ends up being too heavy or creamy, but the curry for this one was thinner and easy to eat. The shrimp was the best part - super fresh and bouncy. In the end I thought the portions and quality were good. The service was also super nice, and it was impressive to see our waitress cover so many tables. The restrooms were also clean.

And second for some of the poor older women who bust their ass working there, one which ive noticed is very polite and exhausted looking. Makes me sad. Overall, its a risk for me to eat at this restaurant.. Why? Because I was sitting and eating one day, looked up and noticed a cockroach crawling up the wall beside me... Cockroaches + food dont mix.. Sorry. Thats gross, I dont want to know whats happening in the kitchen.

This is a dark, a bit dingy place that features a minimized Persian Buffet. The buffet consisted of the following: Salad and dressing Soup Stewed beef with beans and greens Kefte kebab persian style Saffron Rice And a different Saffron Rice Grilled skewered chicken breast pieces and precious little else. We each also had an ayran which is a yoghurt drink. They offered us the "non-carboned" one which was welcome relief! Now to be honest it is "dead" cheap at $ 7.99 and I must admit pretty tasty. The owner(?)/manager(?) is attentive and brought us the necessary cutlery to enable us to eat. I don't think they made money with us but we were only 2 or 4 people in a "barn" of a restaurant. It is not a place to take a date, and even my sweet wife might find it on the grotty side. But the taste overall was good. It was only a step in our weekly exploration.

But, as the years gone by sometimes they're inconsistent with their pho and there's a lot of other vietnamese restaurants that have opened up in the gta. I would give the pho a 7.5/10 it's classic and it's good, just wouldn't drive far for it. ambiance is casual and there's many tables, very rare to wait for a table here unless the weekend ur still RARE! Their avocado smoothie is good but they premake it during the day which i don't like because when I drink it it's very frozen so I have to wait for it to melt a bit.

I think it's a family-owned business. Simple but organized, and you can feel it's authentic: most customers speak Vietnamese. I ordered beef pho. The flavour of the beef pho was very different from what I expected. It's very gentle and soft. In the beginning, you would even think it's too light. However, the flavour sticks in your mouth, and you'll feel the warmth and the flavours of other ingredients. I have had so many pho before. They all had very intense flavour. Like they want to dominate my taste buds. I think maybe this kind of soft flavour is the true flavour that Vietnamese people eat every day. I will be back in the future.
