I drove from Omaha, Nebraska, after seeing Tasty Treats featured on YouTube, so I was excited to finally try it. The restaurant definitely has a charming old-school, hometown vibe, and I can appreciate that. Unfortunately, the food just wasn't for me. I ordered the loose meat sandwich "with the works." What I received was seasoned ground beef and onions on a bun with a single pickle and a squirt of mustard. That's literally all it was. I took two bites and couldn't finish it. I understand it's a regional specialty, but it wasn't something I enjoyed at all. I also ordered a chocolate shake. It tasted more like vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup added than a properly blended chocolate shake. The syrup wasn't mixed evenly, so most of what I tasted was chocolate syrup. The service was okay--I'd give it about a 3 out of 5. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and the staff was friendly enough. Overall, I'm glad I can say I experienced it, but I definitely wouldn't make the drive from Omaha again for it. In fact, even if I lived nearby, I don't think I'd come back. The old-school atmosphere was the highlight of the visit, but for me, the food didn't live up to the hype. read more

Would not recommend anything other than soft serve on a cone. The food is terrible, the fries fresh, were both soggy and dry. The staff rushed us to take our order, and when I said we need a few minutes to decide she turned and walked away without saying a single word, and clearly annoyed. It's maybe a cute stop for ice cream but don't expect much. I would honestly recommend having a talk with your staff because it was not a welcoming vibe I got from either of the employees. read more

Great little old-school burger shack. Service was fantastic. Loose meat cheeseburgers and malted milkshakes are great. Keep it simple. Get the special combo and enjoy it. This place is exactly what it should be and nothing that it shouldn't be. read more

I was looking forward to eating a local establishment. You drive up and stay in your car. The young lady came out to take our order. She was a stonewall. She didn't focus on the customer. She had no clue to any questions I asked. She didn't even offer to find out. We gave her our order and not even a thank you. We decided to order a Tastees Special, Pizza Burger and Pork Tenderloin. The Tastee steak burger is just ground beef like in a sloppy joe form. Not full of much flavor. The pizza burger had no appeal and the flavor was eh. The pork tenderloin had more mayo than flavor. The cheese balls were good. Probably the only thing I did enjoy. We had a chocolate shake with marshmallow and peanut butter malt. All just eh. Nothing great. I won't go back. read more

My favorites include the Tastee Beef sandwich which is prepared with a secret recipe and Kwiki dogs are also perfectly prepared corn dogs. Good low prices and historic menu items keep us coming back every time we visit Yankton. The car hops don't have roller skates but they will take your order while you sit in your car and bring your order to you on a window mount tray. If you like slop on a plate this is the place for you. They try to keep you from leaving with sticky floors, grabbing your feet with every step. I could get over the bad food, and dirtiness if it weren't for the owner himself - or at least I'm assuming he was the owner considering he loved above it. He came in, sloppy drunk and hungover screaming at his workers and ordering them to make him food... So sorry for the young ladies that work for him and have to put up with that abuse. Reminiscent of 1950 small town era with good malts. For a little dive, this place has good malts. Make sure to get a Tastee or 2 or 3. For those who don't know a Tastee is a "loose meat" or a.k.a. a "tavern" sandwich. The Tastee consists of ground burger meat with only salt and pepper for seasoning and a pickle and mustard. This is a good stop to make on your way to or from the lake and hang out with the locals. One thing that makes Tastee Treet a little special is they still have car hops to take your orders and bring your food. read more

For a drive-in, right off the highway, this really is as good as it gets. The prices are unbeatable and the quality of the food is immediately apparent. We had a corndog, cony dog, and a cheeseburger- all for under $10. I wish I had the appetite and time to try more, but I was just passing through town. A fun stop. Delicious milkshakes and malts. Basic drive it food. Much better then a chain and made to order. We liked the tastee. An all girl staff even in the kitchen. It was busy on Sunday.
