This left us with a full table, our two event coordinators, the DJ, and catering reserve's wait staff being short 20+ meals. We were only informed of the lack of food after a guest had mentioned it during the wedding and I had to ask the event supervisor directly. I was told that the shortage of food was predicted while food was still being served based and when staff reached out to catering reserved, the staff were informed that nothing was said or done about it and we were not even notified. If we would have known, we would've at least made an attempt to order a few pizzas or something so that our guests and event staff had something to eat after working for multiple hours or consuming alcohol in the case of our guests. Instead, we were left embarrassed that we couldn't feed our loved ones at our wedding and helpless that the opportunity to mitigate the situation was taken from us before we had the chance to. We would really like to know what happened and why this situation was handled the way that it was. Was the buffet supposed to be served/portioned by staff? If not, were staff supposed to say anything to guests or let people know that x amount should be taken per serving? Has this happened at an event before and how was this handled? Was the event understaffed at 10 people? Is there some reason that nobody was informed that this was going to happen until it was too late? We reached out to our contact at catering reserved directly after the wedding and one of the owners assured my wife that they would make things right however we have been ignored ever since. Aside from the shortage and communication from catering reserved, I would like to say that the linens and china were exemplary, the staff was very courteous and professional and the food that some of our guests received was held in high regard.

I think Covid is a force majeure, and they did not even honor that even when it was written in the contract. Read every fine print in the contract, and even then, be wary as they probably won't keep their word.

That was followed by a healthy and flavorful microgreens and heirloom tomatoes salad, a mind-blowing BBQ Jack Fruit pizza, a hearty and flavorful lentil tagine, "crab" cakes made with Jack Fruit (so creative and scrumptious!), a super rich medley of mushrooms over sweet potato grits, and a dessert of saffron(!) ice cream in a cardamom waffle cone. We scheduled a tasting during our meeting with the venue representative and Joanne provided all the needed documentation for catering. The tasting was all of the entrees/sides that we put on the menu, AND additional tastings of other options and iced tea that I wanted. Since we didn't really have "tasting" time at the venue, she packed it up into take-out boxes and let us take so much food home! It was as if we went to a restaurant and got take-out food for dinner! I hired Bennett Caterers for my wedding ceremony/reception, all located in the same lodge. Set-up time was scheduled from 12:00-2:00pm, with the ceremony supposed to begin at 2:00pm. They were already at the location when we arrived for set-up and setting up table linens. In that time frame, I threw the decor onto the tables and ran off to get ready for my wedding. By the time I came back up for the ceremony, all of the tables were beautifully covered with the plates and silverware. Everything was set-up and the buffet was warm and ready on the side. During dinner, the food was very good and everyone seemed satisfied. With my nervousness, I kind of forgot to eat during my entire wedding, but at least the guests enjoyed it! The bar was also great! The waiters were incredibly respectful and Joanne's team was great. If there was anything I could have changed, I probably would have pushed a couple of late night (after party) snacks that could have gone around during the dancing, as I didn't get the try any appetizers during cocktail hour, since I was off taking photos. :( To any brides that plan their own wedding, you SHOULD have breakfast, because I thought I'd get to try some of the food and I didn't... :(( But I'm so happy the guests enjoyed it all! In November 2019 my fiancé and I hired Hemibry Catering to cater our wedding that is currently…read morescheduled for October 2020. We chose this company because they were on the list of catering companies that work with the venue that will be hosting our wedding. Our initial experience with Hernan, the owner, was good. He allowed us to put down a little less than the required 50% deposit that is due in order for us to lock in the date for Hemibry to cater our wedding. We appreciated his flexibility at that time. Less than three months later, by choice, we fulfilled the full contract amount that would have been due three days before our wedding. Fast forward to March 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic shut down just about everything including the venue that will be hosting our wedding, we became increasingly concerned about all of our wedding plans. I reached out to Hemibry Catering to express our concerns and asked if we would be able to obtain a full refund in the event that our wedding must be cancelled which would be out of our control. A person named Stephanie advised me that we would not be able to get the deposit back and that they would be willing to reschedule dates with no penalty or if we do not have a wedding at all she stated that the funds can be used towards another event such as a BBQ, birthday etc. Unfortunately we do not intend on having another event that would call for almost $6,000 in catering so that option would definitely not work for us. Also, it is extremely important to us that we keep the same wedding date if the government guidelines allow us to have a much smaller gathering because changing the date is not an option we're looking to explore. Although we understand that per our contract the deposit would be kept, we were hopeful of receiving a full refund if we do not have a wedding at all because thankfully the venue that will host our wedding along with other companies we already hired are being extremely flexible in working with us with making adjustments even if it goes against what's in our contracts because they understand that the situation with the pandemic is totally out of our control. A couple of days ago I reached out to Hernan, the owner, asking if he would be willing to adjust the contract and lower the amount of guests from 60 people to a much lower number, possibly 30, in the event that we would not be able to have the number of guests we originally planned for due to the government guidelines that continue to change. When I advised Hernan that we already paid the full amount that was due, he stated "I'm not able to refund any money...." He went along with further explaining that all the money they use is for operations, which left us feeling as if he possibly spent the full amount that we've already paid. I found it odd that he like Stephanie, offered the option to move the date, but failed to remind us that we still have the option of cancelling completely and be refunded the amount outside of the deposit that we're entitled to, per our contract. I explained to him that I feel that it is not good business practice to still charge us for 60 people if we can only have 30. He stated that they are being flexible by moving dates. Again, not reminding us of the option to cancel completely and be refunded a portion of the funds, per our contract. I advised him that I really need him to work with us in making some kind of adjustment and also expressed to him that I understand the difficulties that businesses are currently experiencing, however, he should also be more flexible with us because morally it's the right thing to do. The call ended with him telling me that he does not have an answer at the moment but he is trying to make things fair for everyone and will get back to me. The conversation left us feeling a lack of confidence in how he conducts business with his clients during a crisis but I still am slightly hopeful that he allows us to change the number of guests he will cater for to a much lower number and refund us a portion of our money. This is a reminder to people to pay very close attention to how a company treats their customers when unforeseen events occur. As I stated, other companies we're under contract with are much more flexible and understanding when it comes to adjustments and refunds, regardless of what's stated in our contract. Unfortunately at the moment, Hemibry catering is not one of those companies. I hope that my next update will be much better than this one. Until then, I will wait to hear back from Hernan at Hemibry catering.

SO...I'm going to start by speaking positive. This young man has the POTENTIAL to have a great…read morebusiness going. I did not know him before, I got his information on yelp. I asked him to help me cater a BBQ for 50+ people. 1.) He provided me with an initial tasting. 2.) He offered to roll the costs of tables, chairs, and chaffing dishes into his fee, which was very convenient for me! He even offered to come the day before to help setup. 3.) I asked for a second tasting to fine tune the menu Items I was having for the BBQ he stated that he would cook the chicken on site the day of... I explained to him that BBQing chicken on the grill takes SKILL and that I prefer the chicken be baked, or parboiled and then placed on the grill. He assured me that wasn't necessary. Here's what I asked for, and what I got: I ASKED FOR: I told him that I did NOT want chicken or any meat in my pasta salad and wanted it to be a veggie pasta salad. I also requested that the HUGE pieces of cheese that he put in the pasta salad either be left out or cut smaller or replaced with a less dry cheese WHAT I GOT A "Veggie Pasta Salad" with chicken and HUGE pieces of cheese...after my vegetarian friends found meat in the pasta. I ASKED FOR: General Tso Wings and Medium Spicy Jerk Wings WHAT I GOT: Wings that looked the exactly the same and were under cooked and had to be put back on the grill and into the oven the next day. (RAW WINGS ON THE GRILL MEANS UNDER COOKED INSIDE AND OVERCOOKED OUTSIDE. I ASKED FOR: Nice hamburgers...I SPECIFICALLY SAID I did not want the cheap thin hamburgers WHAT I GOT: A big pile of cheap thin flying disk hamburgers that were dry. The deviled eggs were completely doused in paprika and were not served to the guests and remained in the fridge until someone asked about them...the same for the fruit salad that looks like it prepared days in advance and not fresh. After the food was setup we were spinning around digging through the dishwasher looking for serving utensils because the caterer that I paid 4 figures to did not bring serving utensils. THE MAIN ISSUE HERE I am a small business owner myself...I called Mr. Chase and asked to meet with him to talk about how the event went. I texted him not less than SIX TIMES and each time he would give me a date and then either not respond or came up with a reason not to meet. I am assuming this is because he is aware that the event did not go to plan. He has avoided speaking with me (see photos) and THAT is the sign of bad business practices. I even had a church that wished to hire him and still never responded. A business like this survives off of word of mouth and referrals. I was hoping that general feedback and a conversation would provide some encouragement and opportunity for growth. This is apparently something that Mr. Chase is not interested in. My suggestion: PROCEED WITH CAUTION!
