I arranged for two different estimates for my elderly mother-in-law. We live in Arizona and she lives in Texas. It is hard to trust a company not to take advantage of an elderly person when not present with them. My mother-in-law got a quick and on time quote, and a fair quote, from A Cut Above, but she wanted two estimates. The second estimate was quite a bit higher!! It wasn't just about price. After voicing my dissatisfaction…read morewith the customer service to an employee, the owner called to tell me he "DOESN'T GIVE A F***" if I post a review, so here we are. They started on our fence a week early without telling us they moved us up in the schedule. We came home to our fence completely torn down and upset neighbors that had no warning. They would tell us they were coming to work on certain days and wouldn't show up. We'd have to call several different times to try and figure out what was going on. They also did a shoddy job in a corner and when we pointed out there was a big gap, the owner nailed a board on top as the solution (pic attached). We are now paying a contractor additional money to do the job right. I had planned to ignore the above issues and not give anyone a hard time. I recognize that things get busy sometimes and stuff happens. What finally led me to post a review was that phone call from the owner. Some of the pickets were bad and rotting and I told the owner that there were 3 I could see that were bad, but there may be bad ones on the neighbors sides as well. Our fence is getting stained next week and the pickets needed to be replaced before then. When his employee called from our house, I reiterated the above issue to him and that there may be additional bad pickets we couldn't see. The employee told me he was there just to replace 3 pickets and I'd need to call the owner again. That's when I let the employee know I was unhappy and immediately got a very aggressive call from the owner. Even if my request to check additional pickets was asking too much and they had to refuse, I would have at least hoped to be treated with some level of professionalism. After dropping thousands on a fence, we were very disappointed with how we were ultimately treated. Even without that last interaction, the overall experience felt disorganized and stressful.
