My best friend and I decided to get matching My Chemical Romance tattoos to solidify our love for the 2000s emo pop punk band. In her Instagram research, Brooke came across Kyle Evans and immediately noticed some other MCR tattoos he's done. Obviously he was the right artist for us! She booked an appointment for the following month. All artists at futurelazertiger are by appointment only and do their own booking. No phone calls! On the day of our appointment, we both parked on the side street near the building and went inside. The waiting area is small but welcoming. Kyle came out immediately and introduced himself. Through email, Brooke gave him an idea of what we were looking for. He was so excited to show us what he designed and we immediately fell in love. I was first in the chair. Kyle was quick with setup, made sure I was comfy and got to work. He was super-relatable. We chatted about music and restaurants and our tattoos. His touch was light, which was great on the back of my arm. My finished tattoo is GORGEOUS. It's my first large tattoo, so I'm thankful it was done by such a talented artist. While he was doing the MCR tattoo, we talked about my crappy owl tattoo I got back in June by a nervous apprentice at a shop in Denver. Kyle offered to redo it since he was already set up with black ink anyway. That was super-nice of him. He transformed that tiny tattoo into something I am proud of! Brooke got the same design on her thigh. Kyle did a great job making the tattoos with the same overall design but putting his own spin on the details. The shop is very open, with no wall separation between the tattoo stations. I'm sometimes weird about that, but luckily all the artists in the shop were all very friendly and down-to-earth. I didn't get the "holier-than-thou" vibe from anyone. They do not perform piercing at this shop, fyi. Brooke and I paid cash, but Kyle did give us the option to pay by card. I don't know if there would have been an additional fee to do that. futurelazertiger is an excellent tattoo shop in a good location with world-renowned artists. I suggest following their shop Instagram page to familiarize yourself with their artists. Each artist has their own Instagram page where you can find their email address for inquiries about booking.

At Harlequin, you get none of this. When I decided I wanted a hand piece, I knew I needed quality. My partner has gone here for a couple tattoos with Dawn, and she's always happy with the outcome. So, I decided to see if I meshed with the current artists. When I reached out to Luke, he was responsive and open to my idea. Booking was easy, and as you can see, the result was worth the wait. I sent a couple pics with my overall idea, but what Luke drew was beyond anything I was thinking. I can't put into words how excited I am with this piece. Luke was easy going throughout the process and on the day of the tattoo. The shop was clean and welcoming. The other artists were very kind, happy to talk throughout my stay. Again, no pretentious vibe here. I'm sad to say Luke will be opening his own shop soon, but most everyone at Harlequin seems awesome, so you should not hesitate to get your work done here. Parking is simple, but there are meters so bring change just in case. I found the shop to be very clean, open and welcoming. I do wish there was separation between artist stations but it seems most places are doing away with privacy. Dawn was very friendly and helpful with finding placement and perfecting sizing for my pieces. The tattoo process was simple. Dawn was great to chat with. She had a nice way of explaining what she was working on as she went through the process. I love my tattoos and wouldn't hesitate to go to this shop in the future.

We walked in and there was a bit of a wait, but that's on us for not making an appointment, so no worries there. There was another person waiting too, but we managed to social distance in the lobby. Once it was our turn, Stuart was awesome! He was 100% focused on the task at hand, answered all our questions with care and was obviously very passionate AND knowledgeable about what he does. What I appreciated most was that he narrates what is happening to your body, as well as talks through what you're feeling, and gives like, time count downs throughout, which I found REALLY helpful. CASH ONLY. In terms of wheelchair accessibility: the bathroom is definitely NOT wheelchair accessible. The door opens inward and there is a very narrow walkway between the counter and the wall that you need to pass through to get to the toilet. You *might* be able to navigate it with a cane, probably not with a walker, definitely not with a motorized wheelchair. The shop area itself (where you would be getting your tattoo or piercing) is open and the tables are moveable, but there is a narrow "walkway" between counters that you must pass through to get from the 'lobby' area to the 'shop' area. Parking is on the street and is catch-as-catch-can so allow yourself extra time (and pray for luck to the parking gods if it suits you) when coming by car. They offer a discount for veterans!
