The main dish was served on a plate and was a huge disappointment. Looked like pre-prepared lumps of meat cooked on water. Grilled yes, but most probably during the day to be able to meet the amount of people to be served.. The waiter was smiling from ear to ear as his restaurant was filling up. Asked him if he had some sauce to go with the meat. He smiled and said: No way the cook will be able to prepare something. Honest, yes, but added to the disappointment. Could not match the fact that the restaurant was full with our experience. We tried some of the dish but tasted strange.Deceided to leave and have a coffee elsewhere. Mythos beers to wash it down. For mains we had the Gyros Tiri and the meatballs. Gyros Tiri was excellent. Deep flavors and savory. I wish I had ordered this myself. Meatballs were a pass (not very flavorful). Dessert was yogurt with honey, very good.

The food smelled fantastic when I walked in, I just wish I hadn't eaten in Rome. I had a great salad and garlic bread. And they have raki, which is like ouzo without the anise. It was the smoothest raki I've ever had, including in Crete. The staff was wonderful and friendly. Most importantly, I stayed upstairs! They have a few hotel rooms on the 1st floor (perhaps more). The room was spacious and quiet. And it's 10 minutes to the airport. Perfect!

I must say, this place is brilliant…read more Venos is located within walking distance from my flat and I go there every so often to simply just look around and see all the things I really can't afford. But nevertheless, they have it all. In Venos you can find loads of fresh fish... anything from swordfish to mackerel to clams to different varieties of squid. It truly is a magical place (okay, I'm just missing the delicious Virginia seafood at the moment.....) You can also find cuts of meat from all over the world here. They have meats from Namibia and Botswana, New Zealand lamb, Australian beef, American beef, etc etc. It is kind of exciting even though I don't really eat meat. You can find guinea fowl, veal, wild boar, deer, and much, much more. They also have a stellar cheese selection, showcasing some fine European cheeses and my beloved la mozzarella di bufala. I'm not a huge fan of European foods, even Mediterranean ones, and this place tends to specialize in Italian and Greek foods, but either way, still a fantastic place for food lovers like myself.

My homemade sushi rolls and sashimi could not taste any better. They also sell nori leaves and everything else you might need to make sushi so it's a one-stop-shop if you want. I have recently started to buy my white wine from them as well since they carry Yvon Mau Colombard Chardonnay which I find very tasty. Other than that they seem to have a large selection of all kinds of specialty food items (mainly from Italy and Greece) including a large selection of wines and spirits as well as quite the variety of fresh fish and seafood of course.
