WARNING!! Don't call tax advocates. They don't help they tell you lies. They prolonged my 2023 taxes all because I called them to get an update it's June 2025 and I'm still waiting for my 2023 refund. I never even signed a release authorizing tax advocate to advocate on behalf of me which legally they should be asking you to sign. Just know that once you call them that's it you have to only call them which to me is total BS! They just brush you off give you the run around so then can pick up as many caps as possible. read more

Scammers go else where for help. My case has been ongoing since 2019 and I paid them about $6000, they don't provide updates all they do is call you to ask about assets and that's it. If you ask for an update they transfer you to a "supervisor" and he gives you the run around, today they called again asking for assets and they wanted me to pay them another $7000 to continue to represent me. I declined to pay them any more money which I rather use to pay the irs. Stay far away from this company. They will also apply for loans without your consent. They applied for a loan on my behalf to get money to pay them the additional $7000 they are asking which again I never approved nor gave consent for them to do that. Go look at the BBB website there's multiple complaints similar to mine, which I have filed a complaint as well. read more

I enlisted the Tax Advocate Group a few years ago and nothing was done and I still owe back taxes yo the IRS! What they did was have me placed on the list where the IRS does not bother me bu5 my taxes are still mounting. I paid them $150 a month from over 2 years until the payments stopped and they told me I stopped the payments which it was a recurring payment from my checking account. Then they called me and told me I had to pay attorney fees and they enlisted the united consumers financial service so that I could apply for a loan for $6018.56 and I paid $167.21 for 3 yrs until that was paid in full. What did I get for all that money paid nothing! I could have paid that to the IRS! The only time they called me when they wanted money! I do not recommend this company to anybody. Just adding another HORRIBLE review for TAX ADVOCATE GROUP. They promised me relief and resolution at a very difficult time in my life. However instead I was lied to, stolen from and basically ignored and betrayed. If you are thinking about even giving them a dime, do not, it will cost you thousands more and you will end up even deeper into debt. And by the way, Todd Lewis do not contact me anymore trying to act like you want to repair any wrong doing on TAG experience. I hired the Tax advocate Group and paid them $7500 on April 17, 2024 to negotiate my tax debt with IRS. They did nothing and demanded an additional $15600 supposely to continue negotiating with IRS. We saw their ad on TV, so we thought it would be good to have them help us with taxes owed. That was a BIG MISTAKE. They first sounded so professional,and we stupidly believed what they were saying. They said it would cost approximately $2700, so we paid them. They were then, supposedly, going to take care of it. A few days later, they said it would be another $4000. Since we already had a lot invested in their supposed work, we felt we had to go through with it. We could not get the "deposit" back, which they then called it. They were to keep in touch with us to keep us apprised of what had been done. NO ONE CALLED. THERE WAS NO CONTACT FROM THEM. EVERY TIME WE CALLED, THERE WAS NO ANSWER, OR WHOEVER ANSWERED SAID THEY WOULD HAVE THE AGENT CALL US BACK. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. During this time, we did talk to someone who said he was the attorney for them. He said he had CLOSED our account the same date we actually first talked with them. That means, he completed it. We don't know what that meant to them, since no one wanted to talk to us. We emailed with no response from them. Finally, one of them said they were not going to deal with us anymore because of the long emails. The last call we made to them, a female said she would pass on our call information. Nothing came from that. We had to pay $6506.51 to the IRS (not all owed) after paying Tax Advocate Group almost the same. We have asked repeatedly for our money to be refunded since they did nothing. If you are reading this to see what you could get yourself into, also check what others have to say about them at their BBB. We are not the only ones who were cheated. Until now, we did not know what to do, but today I do intend to report to the IRS that these people may actually help others, but they do not help all. I also would say that those NICE feedbacks were written by them. There is no way that many feedbacks, if any, would be that positive. They are crooks. TO TAG: The Evans want their money back. I'm finally writing my review only because they offered me a testimonial discount. However, I will say I'm VERY happy with the results they were able to get for me. Don't get me wrong it took a LONG TIME but that really wasn't their fault. They were always responsive to my calls and were very kind to constantly assure me things were fine. This way they can lie about the extreme amount of work required with a HUGE COST. They access names of people owing back taxes and/or affected by a lien. Send you a notice in mail, which appears to be from the IRS and/or State. But when you call, you will get a man who says he's Robert A. Gold. This real man is 77 years old & lives in New Hampshire. His son, David S. Gold is the professional scammer, who you talk to first. He will tell you how involved your tax situation is & the large amount of work involved, therefore the cost is enormous. Took $7,000 from me. Then needed more upfront, so he had me apply for a loan with his lender. Got $3,000 more. Then said, monthly payments of $1,300 until $47,000 is paid to him. I spent $15,000 before I figured out I had been SCAMMED!! Never did one thing with my original State tax issue. They filled out a form & sent to IRS. Costs should had been a couple hundred. They dId NOT discuss my tax issues. They just do as little as possible & not discuss it over with a person. They will not send you the proof of work done. You receive nothing!!! No consultation of your tax situation. In my situation one form was filled out & sent to IRS. What it states, what info has been entered, how this form affects my life, what is expected of me in the future, they refuse to send me and discuss. I have NOTHING for my records. I have no clue whats been done & they refuse to send me proof of what they did. They REFUSE to send an itemized list of costs, and/or type of work done with cost. One form filled out with no discussion of, sent to IRS. comparable pricing a couple hundred dollars. I paid $15,000, & my total costs they wanted was $47,000. People this is for ONE FORM filled out. Not difficult! David S. Gold disappears. After he first lies to get as much money upfront, then he's on to his next call scamming people. I was yelled at, with ultimatum's yelled at me, then I was hung up on. Refuse to give my money back minus cost of form they filled out. WHY WOULD YOU HAVE A THING TO DO WITH PEOPLE WHO GO BY FALSE NAMES?? I wished I had known. David is excellent at scamming people. They could care less about your tax situation. I am happy to write this as I am sure others have struggled mentally and physically not knowing who to turn to for help. I tried for months to call the irs but could not get thru for months I was not sleeping through the night. I truly believe that I was supposed to find tax advocate group on my phone on one of those sleepless nightts. I called them the next day and asked how they could help me with my back taxes. Ryan was very gentle and easy to talk to. He informed me of what they could do and what my options were. He listened to me and treated me with respect and it felt so easy to talk to him. It was a big step that I had tried to make for years. I turned my tax problem over to him and finally got a good nights sleep and they took it from there. It took some time because you know the irs is slow at everything. I know that my tax nightmare is finally over and I am so happy with the outcome. This company has been "working on" my tax lien for a year and half and nothing has been done. I am still getting letters from the IRS. They were supposed to do my 2020 taxes and that hasn't been done either. I have paid them thousands of dollars and I am afraid it was for nothing. I have been calling, leaving messages, and sending emails for over a month and nobody gets back to me. Even when I do get someone on the phone, they ask for my info and then I am put on hold for 20-30 minutes and then disconnected. Terrible service!!! I am so frustrated. read more

I am writing an honest review which they did offer me a discount. If I did after my experience, which seemed fair. They didn't ask for a good review just a review. My first initial contact was at the end of Dec 2020. They asked for an upfront fee for service. Which most service companies like this would. Everything moved very quickly with the first call. One thing they are not very well at is communication. Every email I sent was not answered but they do give out cell numbers if needed. My rep did. My collection did stop and the IRS invoices stopped as well. I figured they were doing something? I did do research on Tax Advocate. Throughout, the whole time they contacted me twice. I was in limbo for months. When they did contact me. I was transferred to several time to several different people. Really didn't understand the whole process. When they did contact me sometimes on hold for a long while. Doesn't sound great so far. huh??? Trying to put perspective the whole time. I have dealt with IRS in the past and it is a month back and forth thing and plus with Covid.. I'm sure IRS was not dealing with debts when the country was trying to get back with everything shutting down. I was patient and other reviews did say it took awhile. Also, I figured they must be having a ton of my situation and they are probably busy and I am in line on a desk somewhere. On June, 6 month later. I get a text from Tax Advocate. "Hey we are trying to get a hold of you" I scheduled a meeting. It moved so fast. They asked for more information from me. Then put me on a conference call. Bam!! told me what they can negotiate with. It was substantially way less than what I owed and I can start off fresh. I agreed and it was completed. Signed.. They told me good luck, stay on top of my future taxes and its pretty much done. I waited a few weeks and so far so good. I'll give an updated review if anything else occurs with this issue with the IRS. I actually do recommend this company if you have tax issues. One thing I do recommend keep funds for negotiating.
