The receptionist said that there were about 5 people in front of us, and on top of that, there were people with appointments. She guessed we would be waiting over an hour. But, to our surprise, she took down my cell phone number and told us she would give us a call when we were first or second in line. I loved that they gave us this option because it meant we could get some running around done. We ended up going back about an hour and a half later with a couple books in hand and sat down to wait. We were only waiting about 10 minutes when Jody came out to get us. Jody was really quick at getting our returns done. We were only in there for about 20 minutes, including our 10 minute wait. She was able to get us the largest return we have ever had, and gave us advice about next years taxes. We will be going back to see Jody at H&R Block next year as well.

In 2021 we were billed in excess of $11,000 for our personal tax preparation. This was a scope of work that is typically done for less than $1,000 by competitive firms. BDO charges you without first informing of costs and gaining approva. As in our case they assign work to senior persons at exorbitant cost where junior persons are more appropriate. As with others commenting we ended up at BDO due to our prior account hiring with them. She has since left them and while trying we can't find her anywhere. We do not recommend BDO and will not use them ever again.

The guy usually charges about $40-50 for single person tax forms and perhaps $80 or so for a couple filing together. His tax services are perfect for university-goers since he has a lot of experience dealing with academic payments, research grants etc. I have a few other friends in my situation who went outside to get their taxes done and, to be honest, a professional tax agent near Jasper Ave or something, wouldn't know how to handle the T4A's of research and other academic workers. In fact, even though we all had nearly identical T4A's, I managed to receive the (correct) highest tax returns. Most others got less because of subtleties in exactly identifying the kind of income. Prime Tax also does Western Union wire transfers, which is quite useful, owing to the proximity from work. I've used it a couple of times and find it very convenient, rather than walking to a bank on Whyte Ave in the middle of the day

I was told that tax return for self employed individuals cost $80 when I booked my appointment over the phone.By the time they were done with me, I paid $145. Here's their explanation: $40 for personal tax return + $80 for self employed tax return + $20 for having transportation/vehicle expenses claim. Lucky for me, I did all my receipt and expenses calculations already, otherwise that would have cost me more. I was surprised they didnt start charging for every paper clip and staple they used to prep my tax return!! A bookeeper preps your paperwork, not an accountant. The accountant in the office DOES NOT check the paperwork prior to filing. Next time, I will just purchase a turbotax software and do it myself. Filing with Trehan Accounting office is a complete RIP OFF. PS. The google reviews I found online were written by their own office staff. The fellow who wrote a stellar review on Google Review was actually the bookeeper that did my tax return. What a bunch of crooks!
