Simple arrangement of an installment agreement that they said was approved and received a confirmation letter. Only for it to be completely wrong and even more interest charges were accrued. In the end my $70k balance became a $90k balance with the IRS and I gave these crooks another $4000 to end up owning even more money. They don't even have the slightest bit of honor to answer emails or calls. Just have left me the customer high and dry with a larger debt with the IRS. Terrible! They reached out to me initially and I was struggling with some IRS debt so I went for it. First, they NEVER contacted me about the resolution and the IRS started sending me notifications about my payment plan. The problem was not agreeing on a payment plan the problem was that I didn't owe what they were saying I owed. Ultimately, I hired Tax Relief Advocates and they reduced what I "owed" by $20,000+ which was exactly what I needed accomplished. They also financed my fee through United Consumer Finance Services which has also been a nightmare with exorbitant late fees due to payment reversals due to issues on their server and not on my end. We hired them for help with back taxes, but instead of solutions we were given poor advice that left us in a worse situation. The most disappointing part is that nothing was ever resolved -- when it came time to deal with the IRS, we ended up having to handle the conversations ourselves. Beware of Tax Group Center - My $17,000 Regret Back in July 2021, I received a letter from the IRS saying I owed a large sum in taxes for 2019. I needed to resubmit my 1040 and, feeling overwhelmed, I Googled "tax professional." Tax Group Center (TGC) popped up, and they reached out to me right away. They sounded confident, claiming they could negotiate with the IRS and reduce what I owed. I was hopeful--and desperate--so I signed on and paid them $17,000. Fast forward to today: I've saved nothing. Zero. Nada. All TGC did was file a Power of Attorney form, tell me how much I owed, and submit my tax returns for 2020-2023. They also promised bookkeeping help, and I even sent them all my bank transactions for my sole proprietorship. But in the end, I had to do everything myself in QuickBooks. Even worse than the lack of results was the total lack of communication. After they got my payment, it was nearly impossible to get updates. When I did get someone on the phone, all I heard was, "We're working on your case"--a line I've since seen plastered across countless other reviews. Then there's Jennifer, a manager who called several times asking how much I had in my bank account and whether I could pay the IRS with a credit card. When I said no, she applied for loans in my name, without asking me. This triggered hard credit pulls and hurt my credit score. When the loans were denied, she just hung up and never followed up. This happened at least three times. I even requested a refund for the services they never delivered. It's been over two months and--shockingly--no response. In all this time, I've never spoken to an actual attorney. Bottom line: TGC is quick to take your money but painfully slow (or completely absent) when it comes to results. Despite paying them a total of $69,500, including a $26,000 payment made on April 2, 2024, the promised services were never delivered. Avoid Tax Group Center at all costs. This company is operating under what I believe to be extremely deceptive and unethical practices. We were told up front that the total cost for services would be \$2,000 -- nothing more. That's what we agreed to and paid. But after receiving ,no real communication, no real service, and no meaningful progress, we asked for a refund. That's when the scam became clear: they fabricated a bogus invoice that falsely claimed they had provided over $4,000 worth of services, and then pretended to issue a "partial refund" of $2,197.50 from that inflated total. This made it look like they were doing us a favor and issuing a refund, when in reality, they never returned a single dollar to my original payment method. They used my own complaint timeline to backfill the invoice and make it seem like work was done. Then they tried to get me to sign a release agreement to waive any claims against them -- which I refused, because the entire operation is shady and dishonest. This wasn't just poor service. It was a calculated attempt to avoid refunding money they did not earn. So, I called and asked where their corporation office location is and I was told that it was located in San Francisco (1 Market Spear Tower 36FL San Francisco, CA 94105). I asked if they have moved offices in CA because there are two addresses that I found and that their website states that they are headquartered in Calabasa. She responded by telling me " no, they have not moved and that they only have the two locations. She also would not provide a phone number for the location after I asked, she said she does not have a number. Shady? yes, indeed. I've dealt with Ladd Vance from tax group center. After many games and delays from Ladd I receive my check finally. It look like somebody had crinkled the package so when I opened it there were stains on the check the envelope. I'm an ex carpet cleaner so I tested it and it's testing for urine. I first contacted Tax Group Center in the Spring of 2021 after receiving several letters from the IRS owing a total of $12,266 for 2018 and 2019. Tax Group Center told me they could help me get my taxes reduced and taken care of for a fee of a few thousand dollars or even get my taxes reduced. There was never any discussions about charging $350 for me to fill out paperwork they sent me, $350 an hour to for them to call me on the phone, $350 an hour to send me an email, or I would have to pay to file taxes that I had already filed. I was charged twice $500 for 2022 taxes that I had already done along with 2020 and 2021 taxes that were not even part of either 2018 or 2019 taxes. I gave them money on three occasions the first two i had to go through their credit agency for a total of $11,800 at 16% interest, for which i thought was to pay the taxes I owed. February 2023 I was called on the phone asking for another $11,200 that I had to put on my credit card at 12.9% interest. July 19th 2023 I received a phone call from Tax Group Center stating my case was resolved and I owed the IRS $20,000This is when I started to attempt to get answers to why i paid them so much money. After repeated emails and phone calls that were never answered on Sept 7th 2023 I finally received a receipt for services that was filled with ridiculous charges and a statement that they owe me $13,430 of money that I over paid them and they will pay me back over a 12 month period at $1,119.16, I find that unacceptable. I still have not been answered why I paid so much, why it took 2 years to resolve, why I wasn't told about the fees upfront. Terrible experience, I wish I researched a little more, seven pages of negative replies against T.G.C. It was such a bad experience my BBB complaint specialist agreed with me after reviewing my formal complaint. I resolved my 2021 tax issue with the Connecticut Dept. of Revenue and I.R.S. for thousands of dollars less on my own. That part is worth repeating, I+- resolved my tax issues with the Connecticut Dept. of Revenue and the I.R.S. for thousands of dollars less than these organizations originally requested. After a year, I was told by the second attorney assigned to me, that my financials indicated I would not be eligible to be placed under a hardship case as T.G.C. stated," just pay the full amount there's no room to negotiate" said the "Tax Professional". T.G.C. had my financial information available to them on 7-18-2022. Why didn't the "Tax Professionals" inform me then I would not be eligible for a hardship. They stated they had everything they needed for the completion of my case. It should be noted T.G.C. kept on billing me. I was able to negotiate on my own by submitting a letter detailing the incompetence of T.G.C. employees, and by providing evidence such as, T.G.C. invoices, saved voicemails, conversations, Information regarding disabled pensioners including the Connecticut General Statutes, that Evan, my attorney did nothing with. U.S.P.S. receipts of government document copies I mailed to T.G.C. showing increased interest and penalties that kept complying. I was told by the "Tax Professionals "It's all set, you won't be receiving anymore notices" well that wasn't true. they continued. That I was assured the letters would stop about Tax Warrants that can and were applied to my bank account from I.R.S. The letters from Conn. Dept of Revenue and I.R.S. would stop because as Fuentas stated in the voicemail, " "Evan spoke to someone." second voicemail Jaquline Fuentas states "Evan is close to a settlement and should hear something by the end of the day or by Thursday the latest, this was 7-2022. T.G.C. was unable to provide a name of the agent, date, or time they "spoke to someone. There was no settlement in place. When I asked them, this information that should be in my file, the phone call was disconnected, and my repeated calls and voicemails went unanswered. On 6-2023, Misha, the second attorney who took over my case informed me Evan had left the company. Misha stated my financials came back and I am not eligible for the program under a hardship. this information was known last year. The figures Misha quoted on my invoice from 7-7-2023 owing the I.R.S. $37k, this figure was slightly off by $12,879.51. I corrected T.G.C. again by providing the correct amount of $24,120.49. This figure was provided to me on August 22, 2023, by I.R.S. agent Diaz of the I.R.S. Department 193 Grant Street, Waterbury, Connecticut. The letters I sent to the I.R.S. and Connecticut Dept. of Revenue outlining the incompetence of T.G.C. "Tax Professionals" and asking for a reduction in the figures was one the factors in getting my balances lowered. I am requesting a refund of $4,000 Four Thousand dollars out of my $5500.00 retainer. TGC started at $1792.50 and recently went as high as $3250.00 seven months ago. Four Thousand dollars $4,000.00. What work did T.G.C. do to earn $1500. After paying this company to handle my Fresh Start Program and thinking they had done it professionally, I find out they filed my State taxes without using my W-2 information. And never once did they tell us that they had filed State taxes without using W-2 information. When I ask them to help me get their problem corrected. They told us they did not contract to do our State return. Something that was specifically described in my conversations with Ladd Vance. If you need help with your IRS problems for debt relief and you don't have a lot of money, then don't go to this place! They lead you on. I needed help with a tax levy situation. Previously, I settled with the IRS as non-collectible. Then I received a tax levy notice. I received a brochure in the mail from the Tax Group Center. I gave them a call to see if they could help me. I told them my circumstances and was told by the customer rep, Jennifer, that it should be an easy case since the IRS already had all of my records. She told me it would cost $1000 for them to get started on my case. I felt a little relieved, so I paid the $1000, and also filled out an online questionnaire. I didn't hear back from them for two weeks. When I did hear back, another person named Dean, who was the preparer, told me that it would cost me another $6500. I told him that I couldn't afford it. I was retired and lived on a fixed income and that I already paid $1000. He then suggested that he could start my case for $4500. My answer was the same. Then he asked me if I could do monthly payments toward the $4500, that he could check their finance company to see if I could qualify. Thankfully, the finance company turned me down. Dean sounded so frustrated, and said that he would call me back later that afternoon because he really wanted to find a way to work things out. I didn't hear anything from them for another two weeks. During that time I reach out to another debt relief company and told them my situation. I was told that I really didn't have to do anything regarding the tax levy notice because it's an automatic notice that goes out when you settle as non-collectible. This is the way the IRS protects themselves. After hearing this, I felt like I was being scammed by the Tax Group Center. I called them and requested a refund. (I knew they were not going to be able to help me because I didn't have anymore money to give them). I was told that it would take 7 - 10 days before I could get my refund. After 10 days, I called back and asked to speak with the office manager. I was transferred me to someone named Jacqueline. The phone rang and rang and went to voicemail. I left a voicemail. She happened to call me back when I was on another call. She left me voicemail and this is what she said. She said that she'd been trying to call the IRS to get a Financial Legal Form. The form was supposed to be emailed to me. She said that she hadn't had any luck getting through because the IRS was so busy. She said that she'd try back the next day. But that's where it stood regarding my refund. What does the IRS form have to do with me getting a refund from the Tax Group Center? I feel that this was another ploy to delay me from getting my refund. Another distraction. If this was honest trustworthy company, they would not hesitate to give me back my money, once they realized that they could not help me. Beware! This company is not here to help you. They just want to take advantage of you. They'll just take your money if you let them! read more

Tax Group is the WORST company my husband and I have ever dealt with. I am not sure if they have actually done anything for my husband's case. My husband (Jamie Petersen) retained their services back in May of 2020 for a $10,000 debt my husband had with the IRS. At first, they give you all the attention and all the promises. We were told, that they would be able to negotiate this debt with the IRS and guaranteed that based on my husband's income at the time, they would be able to reduce the debt to half, no interest, penalties or fees. They requested all the documents, but nothing would actually happen. Alana and Jackeline were the only people who actually answered our emails, but they are not lawyers, so it didn't matter how much they were willing to help. And I get it!! Pandemic was part of the delays....BUT WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR TWO YEARS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN RESOLVED?! We have email correspondence from the beginning of this year trying to talk to my husband' attorney Evan Grant...still waiting to hear back! We have tried to escalate this situation to a manager. Ladd Vance was CC on the email conversations, do you think he has bothered to give us a call?! Still waiting!! It's infuriating that Mr. Grant spoke to my husband in 2021 and mentioned the fact that my husband's case was simple enough and he didn't understand why it was not resolved yet. The IRS took my husband's 2020 tax refund and will take his 2021 refund as well, which should cover his debt in full. We have not received anything indicating what they have done for this case. I wouldn't be surprise if they haven't done anything. Our wedding was delayed because of this situation. Us buying our first home was delayed because of this. This company is a nightmare. Do your research. If you owe very little money like we did, it's probably in your best interest to find a company who cares about the little cases as much as the big ones. How can they have no regard about their lack of action and their lack of communication and how those things affect their clients?! WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK!! I contacted this company after receiving notices from the IRS. We were very concerned and after the Tax Group Centers investigation they got to the bottom of the situation and resolved it for me. These guys are scammers, they charged me $2,000 and $350 each time for "calling irs" and never answered my phone calls or returned my messages for an update on my tax return they are doing for me. No integrity of communication, after telling me they will help me, and not to worry, after they got my money they vanish and don't want anything to do with me. Bad business. Luckily I got my bank to reverse the transaction. read more

I've been working closely with this company for a few months now, and they have been really stand-up people. The communication is great, and I got the sense early on that these were trustworthy professionals that were experts at what they do. I think in this sector in particular, it's not easy to find a good group to work with, so I'm very appreciative that their info was passed along to me by a close friend.
