My wife and I have gone to Charlie for our taxes since 2015. He has always done a good job for us and we have felt his price was reasonable. We have had a few weird encounters over the years. He has talked down to both my wife and I, he has talked about how wealthy he is and how he owns multiple properties in Lafayette, and has made comments about how our finances don't even compare to his own. He even made some sexist comments to my wife that I had to shut him down on a few years back. We've largely ignored these comments and just wrote it off as he's just an odd guy. Well today, Charlie has lost us as clients for good as well as a number of people we had recommended his services to. We filed our 2020 taxes at the beginning of March 2021. It is now May and we have yet to receive our Federal return. I originally called Charlie in April to see if there could have been an issue and he recommended I contact the IRS. I did so multiple times and never got through to a real person. Just a recording telling me they were still processing my return. Today, I called Charlie again to inform him of my result with the IRS and see if there was any other action I could take. I was not angry with him about the situation, as I didn't believe it to be his fault. I was only looking for some direction considering this is all part of what we paid him for. Charlie immediately began to talk down to me and treat me like I was a child. I asked him if he knew of any other places I could call to speak to a live person, as the IRS number was only giving me a recording. He rudely suggested I give one of his other clients a call if I really wanted to talk to a live person. I called him out on his condescending tone and he immediately raised his voice at me and began yelling about how I call him constantly to ask what is going on with my return (I have called him 4 times over 2 months). He said he is annoyed with me calling all the time and then shouted, and I quote, "fu@k you you mother fu@ker!" Mind you, I paid this man over $200 to prepare and file my taxes over 2 months ago. Full disclosure, I fired back pretty quickly with some choice words myself in response to his outburst. I ultimately hung up on him. But the best part comes next. Charlie immediately called me back, so I sent it to voicemail, where he began by saying, "I am not calling to apologize " and then chalked his behavior up to being overworked and tired. Here's the deal, if Charlie is so overworked that he can't treat his clients with even a grain of respect, then he doesn't need to be doing taxes for others anymore. The man sets his own hours, being overworked is no ones fault but his own. He not only yelled at me unprovoked, but he used foul language, called me a vulgar name, and then couldn't even apologize for doing so. If this is how he treats a paying customer of now 6 years, then it's time for Charlie to hang it up and retire. Don't not use Charlie of Tax Home. The guy has officially lost his mind. read more

Charlie has done my last 3 tax returns. He is knowledgeable, professional, and, maybe most importantly, a man who does his job with passion and integrity. When I was searching for a tax professional a few years back I made calls to a bunch of offices to get a quote on my return, which was a little complicated that year because I had done a fair amount of stock trading. I was offered quotes that were laughably inflated; every tax professional I talked to wanted to enter my stock trades manually into their tax filing software and charge me by the hour. I was sure that there must be an automated way to do this, but, after so many people telling me it wasn't possible, I was on the verge of resigning myself and paying for the manual data entry.
