One of my friends told me to check this place out, which was only a couple miles away from me. She loved their classes (she did Yoga, Pilates, and some kind of ab class) and thought I'd benefit from their facilities, especially the track. Although the Centre has a membership fee for the machines & classes, I was able to use the track for free since I was a resident (at the time). That was all I needed. I loved it! The track was clean and never too crowded. I don't think a lot of people realized what a gem this place was. I went at different times during the day and enjoyed running quietly by myself or alongside my husband (he came with me a couple times). Lockers are also available next to the track with keys. I also walked around the Centre and saw two nice pools, climbing wall, new & clean machines, and several rooms for classes. The only downside is that the parking garage is kind of narrow and you have to watch out for cars coming around the corner. It's hard to find parking sometimes, but at least the garage is attached to some kind of indoor bridge over the street so you don't have to walk across the street. I also came here once for some kind of green festival and really enjoyed all the displays, booths, taste samples, art, and petting zoo! Many parts of Elgin are really run-down but this is one part of Elgin that shines. If it wasn't for the Centre (and the library nearby), I wouldn't have been complete.

The offerings are great, with a good selection of high quality facilities, equipment, group classes, park district activities/lessons, etc. The staff is amazing. They really care about their jobs and their members. They greet you by name, take the time to help with any questions or issues, and take member feedback seriously. They also have an on-site childcare offering (Kids Korner) that is FANTASTIC! I have been taking my children there for 7 1/2 years and 1 year respectively. The service, and especially the people, have been a godsend. They take such good care of my kids, and I am a very tough critic in this regard. Age appropriate activities, close supervision, engaged and caring staff, clean environment (I constantly see them cleaning surfaces and toys), and as a parent whose children have been going since they were small babies I appreciate the hygiene guidelines they enforce (no shoes, socks must be worn, hand sanitizer readily available, no sick children, etc). Then a few years later, after I was kicked out again, I came here humble and looking for a fresh start. I stated by taking photography from the late John Grady, a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration to me and many others. He was an advocate that lead me to be recognized as the artist of the year by the local paper. Because of this momentum, I ended up attaining three associate degrees from ECC: graphic design, general arts, and general science. The faculty was supportive and communicative, especially in the design department. The onsite computer lab, library, and study areas were great places to work outside of class. Even the cafeteria was reasonably priced and had many options. Administratively, everything was seamless and easy to navigate. I met with humans a few times, but overall, much of the process is online. The only reason for the missing star is the inconsistency of skilled and practicing adjunct teachers. I had a few that were away from their fields for over 20 years, which made some of the knowledge outdated. But I guess all schools have that issue. I highly recommend ECC for everyone!

The program…read moreitself provides valuable hands on experience and teaches important DA skills, but my experience with Program Director Kim Plate and the administration was honestly one of the most frustrating educational experiences I've had. I previously attended loyal university in Columbia University, so the contrast was very striking unfortunately. The biggest issue involved clinical placement approval. I had already secured future employment and made plans to relocate to New Hampshire, which is why I proposed completing my clinicals at that site. Students are allowed to complete clinicals during fall, spring, or summer semesters, yet I was not informed until the final day of the semester that June 1 was suddenly being treated as a strict mandatory start date. This decision not only affected my education but also significantly disrupted my relocation and future employment plans. The New Hampshire site would have supervised me through licensed dental assistants and an on site oral surgeon with qualifications equal to or greater than the ECC observer who would normally conduct one observational shift. Despite this, Kim Plate denied the site without giving any clear or reasonable explanation. Multiple compromises were proposed, including Zoom observations and doctor check ins, but she appeared completely unwilling to work toward any solution. The oral surgeon personally emailed her explaining how the decision would negatively impact the office workflow and never even received a response. Before withdrawing, I had already completed nearly 100 hours at an Illinois clinical site, yet Kim Plate stated those hours would not count. Even after management from the site emailed and met with her expressing that the situation was unfair and unnecessarily rigid, she remained unwilling to compromise, ultimately forcing me to withdraw from the clinical courses. Beyond clinicals, Kim Plate was frequently dismissive, sarcastic, and unprofessional toward students. There were also instances where personal matters regarding me were discussed with other students, creating an uncomfortable environment for both myself and classmates. My entire class brought concerns to the dean and Vice President Anne Marie Schopen. Unfortunately, I did not find Vice President Anne Marie Schopen to be helpful, and despite escalating my concerns, I received little guidance, support, or meaningful assistance. The program can teach useful technical skills, but prospective students should understand that the administration, particularly Kim Plate, can make the experience far more stressful and difficult than it needs to be. If your situation falls outside of the program's rigid expectations, be prepared to strongly advocate for yourself.

I was signed up by Rudy in membership, which was the first step.He's the best. I was assessed by trainer Nate, which was very interesting and purposeful. He is my favorite. I was welcomed to classes by every single instructor and attendee in the many,varied classes that I have tried. Weights,pool,sauna,balance,core,interval,dance,aerobics, cycling and yoga are all available. There is also a track basketball court and cafe. It is impossible for you to not find something to enjoy at this center. I would go there everyday if I could. You will make a friend the first day.

The other one has a shower, but there's too much traffic. The big one has a pool and is huge, but costs more than my monthly mortgage. This YMCA is all you need. It has great family rates, a small but decent gym, a pool, and many other amenities that we havent even used yet. This is the best bang for your buck. My son and I go to the gym between 5-6am and there's always plenty of machines and weights available. The front desk staff was friendly in setting us up and they always greet us with a warm welcome when we come in. We've only had the membership for a few weeks, so if something goes south, I'll update this rating, but for now... it's top notch!

They allow bullies to stay on the Women's Volleyball league and A-level competitive players to play against less-experienced players (B/BB, C, D-levels) in 1 co-rec league. It causes alot of court/game problems regarding positions and cohesiveness to play together safely. I was on the Winter/January 2024 VB league and experienced negative incidents from female players. As a long-standing BB/B level VB player, I bring my positive attitude in playing with teams and mates but many players don't share the same standards. I was born legally 65% deaf and my disability often confuses people since I can't engage in normal conversation, often mistakenly read as being anti-social. Everyone in leagues I play on are alerted about my hearing disability. 1/29/2024: teammate Donna (same team Spike-N-Spice, captain Brandy Valentine) cowardly pushed/jabbed my back from behind during a game. I was caught off-guard considering she and I have never had problems, but I sensed anomisity from her the beginning. No avail as to why. Recollecting myself, I ignored her cowardly aggresssiveness and continued playing with proper sportmanship. She never explained to me why she pushed me nor did I ask her and I couldn't trust her anymore. Captain Brandy chose to not act upon this assault, and I took myself off the team. I emailed Dundee Township managment providing full incident details. Tammy Greco, Superintendent of Rec, contacted me back only saying general words of "Thank you for sharing your feelings, it's been addressed." There were no resolutions given to me as to the outcome of Donna's bad behavior. This incident wasn't based on "feelings", it was based on a physical assault per videotapes. Since the township choose to not act, I don't feel safe to continue coming here, assured that behavior like this won't be allowed.

My jaw dropped when I heard they have a crew, because the nooks and crannies of lobby and bathrooms do not appear to ever be clean. We have been in love with all their coaches!!! They all truly are passionate about coaching and you can tell! Also, anyone that is patient with my active nugget and firm but fair is cool by me!! They recently changed their policies so you pay monthly, which for us works out well. In the long run it makes sense where If your child is ready to move to the next level, you don't have to wait until the current session is over for them to move. Our first coach was coach Tonda who set the bar WAYYYYYY high! She is amazing and spunky and we love love loved her! We have Coach Beth who is amazing and just so good and we also have Coach Eric who I love has his own style of teaching which is awesome and he is so amazing with the kids!!! I can't forget about Coach Matt who we haven't officially had but my daughter adores him! I cannot wait to see my baby grow with Bartlett gymnastics!
