I have noticed that sometimes they have a second (floater) teacher that goes to each lane and helps out as a second teacher for a few minutes and then move on to another class. At the end of each class teachers give you a little summary of how your child did. Sometimes the kids even earn ribbons for accomplishing different goals, which my kids absolutely love. I think it's a great motivator for them as well. The facility has some great added touches with amenities like an area with blow dryers, showers with soap in the pool area. It's well kept and clean. Eleanor went above and beyond to make sure Saylor was comfortable, and by the end of the first makeup class, Saylor was thriving! At our next makeup class, Eleanor had Saylor's favorite toys waiting for her, and Saylor loved that, and had no tears, and was ready to swim! They seem a little pricey but there are options to keep costs down if you can be flexible with your schedule. And frankly, all swim schools may be pricey now, I have no idea. After the 3rd time taking the same class, I was denied the "swimmers guaranteed". Which states that if your swimmer repeats a level 2x they will be offered assistance the 3rd time. If they have to repeat the level a 4th time, it's is supposed to be "on us". I'm being told that because two of my sons attempts at the level were "camps" ie 4x a week for 2 weeks and 4x a week for a month, that I didn't qualify for extra help in his 3rd go round because "camps don't count" and likewise the 4th "on us" session per the technicality. I have been at the school for numerous turnovers that have directly affected the quality and consistency of their programs. I have never once complained. Now, when my son is struggling, I have been shown no understanding or treatment like a valued customer of 8 years. Shame on you.

By the end my son was having a blast. We had gone to another swim school the year before and my son had a death grip on me the whole time and the instructor barely talked to us. So when we tried British Swim School, I was blown away. It is in an LA Fitness, so it isn't as kid friendly as some of the other places geared just for kids. They have changing stations in by the pool and shampoo and anything you would need after swimming, so you don't have to bring all that stuff. There is plenty of seating by the pool for parents to watch.

She brought us downstairs to our party room and helped me set everything up and even greeted the guests as they arrived. She was excellent in explaining the party plans to all of the kids and very patient with a room full of 7 and 8 year olds. Once everyone arrived all the kids were set free in the pool area and had a great time jumping, splashing, and swimming. The kids were able to swim in the pool for an hour and a half and then back to the party room for food and cake. The kids loved that they were able to eat outside. I did the math :) So I got the iPod out, paid the $5 admission and went here to work out. They really don't have a ton of cardio equipment, maybe 5 or 6 treadmills, a couple ellipticals (which I couldn't even get on) and maybe 5 or 6 exercise bikes. Everything is very close together too and it's kind of hard to navigate. The running track was really what pissed me off. There were these morons on there who were basically walking side by side hogging BOTH of the lanes. They only have two lanes. It's like "HELLO...DON'T HOG BOTH LANES..THERE ARE PEOPLE TRYING TO RUN HERE!" Inside lane for walkers, outside lane for runners. Not that hard to comprehend, people. How about a 4 lane running track, Village of Streamwood? I'd probably come back here again to work out. I'll just plow into someone next time when I'm running irf they don't get out of my bloody way . Learn some courtesy, people!

If you wish to go to the main beach, that's an additional $12 if you are not a resident of Crystal Lake. The grounds are immaculate, very well maintained, and the bathrooms are clean. There are two lakes, multiple pavilions that you can rent ahead of time. Lots of picnic tables for you to sit down. Near the bar and grill while you can't go in the water, you can take your drink and sit on one of the cheers on the beach. You can watch people practice on their WaveRunner. Swing on the swings at the bar and listen to great music. I did not have any food here. I did have an amazing Mojito. The bartender was a young man looking to join the Barrington police force. Polite, kind and also had great customer service skills. The reason why I didn't give it five stars is that there are absolutely no markings anywhere as to what trail you are on, how long of a trail it is, and where there may be porta potties. There aren't any maps or QR codes and it was a bit confusing as I came upon several wise and the trail to decide which way to go as I had limited time there. Given the fact that everything is so nicely taken care of I don't know how they can't have at least some markings on the trails that they have there. One of the workers sent me direction and it literally just took me to a pavilion. They have kayaks, canoes, paddle boats and SUP boards. They also offer lessons for SUP depending on the day. Lots of people fishing. Amazing Place! Please add signage for the trails! The pop and water machine near the beach entrance did not work. Hopefully those are checked daily to repair.

There is a walking and running trail, fishing spots (with the appropriate permits of course), and benches and shaded places to sit and enjoy the nature. While we were visiting, the trees had turned color in the fall and added to the beauty of the area. There are some fantastic places to take pictures. The park even comes with a gigantic American flag. For a beautiful park to experience and enjoy, I highly recommend Walton Island Park!

My jaw dropped when I heard they have a crew, because the nooks and crannies of lobby and bathrooms do not appear to ever be clean.
