Their professionalism, gentleness, and talent is what makes them stand out from the rest. Seriously. May was the artist that did my makeup for both my best friend's wedding and my own wedding. I cannot song praises enough for how INCREDIBLE my makeup turned out. I felt that I was one of the more stressed-out brides leading up to the wedding due to the chaos of the planning process. Therefore, unfortunately, I had several spots on my face that I had continued to pick for weeks leading up to the wedding. May performed MAGIC and covered all of the picked spots on my face. I am the bride and signed my contract with her almost a year in advance. One month before my wedding she texts me that the timeline is too tight and she will need to add another makeup artist and that I'd need to pay. ONE MONTH before, not before we agreed on the contract which included the timeline, price, services, etc. I told her I didn't want to pay more, especially since it wasn't discussed with me beforehand. I told her I could take out a bridesmaid and extend the timeline by 15 mins, and she said that would be fine and would work for the timeline. I was a little skeptical but I stupidly trusted that that would add enough time (when there's 7 of us getting hair and makeup done). The trial came around and we talked about my skin concerns and I filled out a pre trial questionnaire where I added my skincare routine and which foundation I've found works best for my skin (Estée Lauder double wear). I have very very oily skin and have had oily skin for 10+ years, so I have a routine where I can keep it under control and make my makeup last. At the trial, she used a foundation and primer that isn't for oily skin, it's the same one she uses for people with normal/dry skin types; which completely disregarded my skin concerns. Well my makeup lasted about an hour, by the time I got home (2hrs later) my makeup was separating, extremely oily, and coming off. A rub with my finger would've rubbed everything off. I sent her pictures of how bad it was and asked her if we could use my foundation instead and use a more matte primer and she agreed, she said she had actually uses it and I should've said something (even though I did I'm the questionnaire, silly me for thinking she would read it). I also had to bring my foundation the day of the wedding because she didn't have either of the shades I use. I debated doing another trial but since the wedding was a month away and I didn't have free weekends to do another, I didn't do it, which was another big mistake. First, the extra makeup artist that Taylor hired the day of the wedding that did 4 of my bridesmaids makeup was completely inexperienced. As an example, it took her 20 minutes to do winged eyeliner on my friend, who had to go home and redo it anyway because it wasn't straight. My bridesmaids that didn't have any skin concerns (they had normal skin types) had issues with their makeup rubbing off within the first few hours. The most heart breaking part of this is that she didn't start my makeup until 12:30, when we were supposed to be done at 12:15 to take bridesmaid pajama pictures and getting ready photos. I paid extra to have my photographers and videographers get there early for these photos and spent money buying matching pj's. My makeup wasn't done until 1:10 and as I was rushing she wanted me to pay her but the payment wasn't going through, so my bridesmaid was frantically trying to figure out how to pay her before mass at 1:15. Luckily we were getting ready at the same location as my mass, or I would've been so much more late. I had 5 minutes to frantically get ready. I didn't get to do my bridesmaids photos, first look with my bridesmaids, and first look with my future husband. She robbed me of those extra memories and photos. After the mass, I noticed my makeup was rubbing off. I came home and realized how oily it was and it was one rub away from coming completely off. My makeup literally didn't last more than an hour and a half. I decided to go home & redo at least the bottom half of my makeup so it wouldn't rub off when I kissed and hugged people. I will attach the screenshots of Taylor's response to this below. Please keep in mind, I redid my makeup and it lasted me 12 more hours than her makeup did, I had no issues kissing or hugging anyone for the rest of my wedding night. When I redid my makeup I also noticed half my fake lashes got glued onto my actual lashes and not my lid, so I had to reapply those and then saw my eyeshadow was cracking off. I don't know how to describe it other than chunks of my eyeshadow were peeling off on one eye so I had to take those pieces off & reapply eyeshadow. This all made me horribly late to my venue where I was supposed to take family photos. I ran out of time to take family photos because my husband & I had to sunset photos. When I got my photos back from my photographer yesterday my heart was broken thinking that I didn't get the venue photos I wanted with most of my family. Please take my advice and don't hire Taylor for such an important day in your life, you have no idea how much of an impact a makeup artist has on your timeline and day until you've gone through the heart break I have. I keep crying when I think about it because I feel cheated, lied to, and robbed of these special memories I wanted to have. read more
