I started renting from Taylor Rental, Plano, TX, in/around 1995 a couple of years after starting up my Sign Company, Superior Signs in Allen, TX Now Plano, TX. I had no negative issues whatsoever. As I / we grew we used them more and more, up to this day all of the time. We rent lift equipment mostly but often other items as well. I feel like we are kind of like family now. They always treated me well. NEVER any Negative issues. Sometimes a lift might have a mechanical issue which happens of course. They ALWAYS were "Johnny on the Spot" to repair whatever was wrong. They also comped us time for time lost. Noting, mechanical issues were a rare event but occasionally happened. Considering as much as we rent from them it was a small fraction of the time. Mark, Joe, Jake, Jose' and all of the others have become like Family to me over the many years. I have never ever had a single issue with Renting from them nor with any of them individually. We have had to rent from other places when their equipment was all rented out and unavailable, but that was rare. I always came back to Taylor Rental, Plano, TX, because other equipment rental places, failed miserably by comparison. Issues were un-maintained equipment, Awkward / substandard, similar equipment was just not as professional and they didn't have the staffing to get me in and out like Taylor Rental Plano, TX. I brag and Refer them all of the time. I could never imagine with their outstanding customer service, eager to please attitude, how anyone would have an issue with them. I do see some low scores as the minority of them which reminds me that no matter how much you try... One can just never please anybody. I would give them 10 Bright Stars if I could but I am stuck with 5 as being the Max! I recommend that you give them a try and see for yourself. I call in advance to make sure that I don't have to Rent Anyplace Else. I cringe at that thought. I purchased a two day rental on this 12" Commercial Wood/Brush Chipper for our ranch which is 75 minutes away from Ft. Worth. I selected this size because I have used this model multiple times over the years. Upon operating for approximately 4 minutes I noticed a pile of wood chips underneath and discovered the protective metal plate was missing, with broken parts of the metal hinges still in place. I called Taylor's to explain that at least half of the chips were falling underneath and the remainder blowing out the top. I was expecting an apology and a service person sent to fix the issue, instead I was told it was designed that way from the manufacturer, after multiple attempts trying to explain and getting nowhere, I asked to speak with a manager. Once I explained my dilemma he gave the same answer and expanded on it by saying half of the chips are supposed to fall out the bottom. I then went into the same detail I would use when dealing with a 3 year old...the plate in question has to be in place to keep the wood chips from falling out, the main purpose of the plate being removable is to gain access in the event of needed repairs to the bottom drum/wheel. He then proceeded to tell me I had no clue as to how this machine works. Once again I said it's actually a very simple design (that any competent adolescent can understand)...the machine is designed with a blower chute that rotates 360 degrees to allow placement of the wood chips in the direction of choice. Upon telling him how far I'd driven and the inconvenience of bringing it back without being able to use...he simply responded "So"! I spoke with this man once again when I returned the machine, and apparently he is the owner. I really wanted to use this company after having a very professional lady handle my transaction, and then an equally nice and competent man load me in the equipment area, but apparently the owner's skill set ends with the hiring process. read more

***I advise you reconsider your other options for renting equipment. Just think: if you rented a shovel, you may get hounded for it coming back with a scratch.*** I attempted to patronize Taylor, however, in the end, I chose not to. I was attempting to return a Budget truck I had rented. There was the most minuscule of dent on the top corner of the truck (which I did not do) that did not affect the functionality or general appearance of the truck in any way. From the corroded aluminum, you could clearly see it was there for a long time. The employees of Taylor were not only extremely picky about this one tiny dent in the grand scheme of the truck, but also were very difficult when I asked for assistance in contacting the original location to confirm that the dent was there when I rented the truck. Please remember this is a moving truck, it is not a shiny Mercedes. In short, since I was returning the truck a day early, I just kept the truck the extra day and returned it to another Budget location simply to no have to deal with these folks. I would never even want to rent from here despite their selection. read more

Horrible ! Do not rent here. I rented a truck here and it rained inside the cab on me and in the back on my things, the breaks were faulty and it was hard to stop. I had to stop under an overpass when t rained. It was pouring in the truck. Oh, and don't complain or try to get compensation for your damages. Thats a waste of time. It's been quite some time since I'd been to Taylor Rental last. I'd say it's been probably been 8-9 years. Back then I blew my engine with a supercharger so I needed a new block and needed a way to pull it. Taylor was the nearest place that would rent a engine hoist. It was like $15 for a day. You can't beat that. I don't know how much it is now, but it's gotta be pretty affordable. So this week, I was changing a timing belt and the harmonic balancer bolt was SO tight, that my 1/2" impact couldn't budge it, blipping it with the starter was useless, even renting the 3/4" impact ($17/day) wasn't enough, so I had to go back and swap up to the 1" impact ($25/day)and that finally the bolt came loose. Now this impact weighs about 30 lbs and in my situation was really difficult to handle at arms length with a 7/8" socket when you really need a 22mm socket. On the upside, Taylor Rental supplied me with the 1" to 3/4" and 3/4" to 1/2" adapter as well as the 7/8" socket, however, I really could have used the 22mm socket instead, so if you need metric, you'll need to have your own or find it elsewhere. What else can you get here? As I've mentioned, engine hoists, back hoes, wedding decor (like columns, etc.), ozone generators ($65/day), snack machines, snow cone machines, margarita machines, dance floors, stages, ALL KINDS OF THINGS. The employees here were infuriating and rude. The man behind the counter didn't even look up from his cell phone when we walked in OR when we walked up to the counter. After standing there for a few moments an older woman, who was clearly inconvenienced by the fact that we were there, helped us. Our reservation confirmation did not prepare us for several minor details and she was impatient as we tried to make decisions, answer questions, and gather the required info. Flat out awful. I made a reservation for a moving truck at a different location, which was very helpful compared to this place. Taylor center told me they couldn't honor the discounted price from the other budget I was transferring the reservation from. I end up being told to go try it online instead of having them fix the reservation and cancel my first one. I was called more than five times in the span of three days trying to be sold on insurance coverage. I was also called to be told they moved my reservation from 6 to 5:30 because although they take their last reservations at 6 that is when they close and they like to leave right at 6. Only once was I asked about who would be driving the truck. During so I stated my father would be but renting was under my name. When we got to the rental place it seemed like an inconvenience I was there. I was told to move down to the other end of the counter. Went through my details with the women and even gave her my insurance card as requested, returned and then scolded when I didn't fill in the insurance information on a form she handed me to sign. It was also not disclosed to me that it was an additional charge for a different driver than the reservation name. We said okay just put it in his name and insurance and they said they couldn't change it on the reservation since they already printer the paper. Not that they couldn't, they wouldn't. There's a big difference. The gentlemen even had the nerve to say he was the one who spoke with me on the telephone and I told him I would be driving and he would of told me other stuff had I mentioned otherwise to him. All I got from him after stating I distinctions told him I wasn't driving was he must have heard wrong - and in no way tried to clear up the issue or additional charge. The inspector for the truck told us to point out what he should write down with imperfections on the truck as opposed to him doing his own job and walking around the truck to check. Almost hoping we would overlook something he saw and didn't write down to penalize us later. He also made sly comments about my father initialing for the mileage when I stated I needed to initial and sign for him as well such as what you don't trust him, you want to look yourself, go ahead and look, you don't have to verify but you can if it'll make you happy. I instantly told him the woman at the counter who sent us out very specifically told me I had to sign the paper since I was liable and it was my reservation. Seeing as it didn't get off to a great start I thought returning would be better. It wasn't. They have no sense of customer service or care to your needs of knowledge. I walked into the place to return my truck, a gentleman walked up to my dad outside to get the keys and didn't even say a word to him, just stuck his hand out for the keys. Inside I walked to the same end of the counter by the woman who did my original paperwork. I stood there for at least 5 minutes before the first thing she said was a total and if I wanted it on the card on file. I asked for a sheet with those break downs to verify the appropriate cost was calculated unlike before. She rudely turned the paper and started going row by row over what the fee was and what it was for and into detail being "smart" about it as if I didn't understand what a base charge was. I stopped her and told her I'd review myself which I did and paid. She gave me my copy and said have a good one. Will $12 break my bank for an extra driver, no, but some customer service could really be used there. Integrity in your company and reputation that if you didn't disclose something or can tell you just blindsided a customer, you should do something to resolve the issue. Take care of the charge or not, even a simple apology would have sufficed instead of shaming and blaming me. As for me having to do the job of your worker outside, yes I was last pick up, but I'm still a paying customer and should be treated like one. It's your responsibility to do your job or find someone who will. It is seriously sad how lazy, rude, unprofessional and misleading this company is. I hope the three I deal with aren't the owners because they are obviously incompetent at their jobs. NEVER using them again or recommending them. Have used budget for years, but this independent contractor could easily tarnish budgets great service elsewhere. read more
