All around terrible experience - Bloor west location. Hair washing was rough. Almost an angry wash !!! Hair cut: Simple Bob - 1 1/2" shorter than existing. I was clear about the angle of the hair, and the hairdresser did the exact opposite. Had to go to another hair salon for correction. I am much happier now - will never return. read more

I had an appointment yesterday at Taz Hair on Bellar street. Prior to setting up the appointment, I had specified that I would not wash my hair at the salon and only required a cut and no blow dry etc required. They quoted me a price of $50 to 60. Realizing later that Taz had a salon on Bloor street in Etobicoke, which is nearer to my home, I called and changed the appointment to that location. Carol Cini, the stylist attended to me and I was satisfied with her approach and work. What I found disconcerting is that I was charged $120 for my haircut without shampoo and formal blow dry ! This amount was unexpected and shockingly double what Bellar street salon quoted. I was not informed when I arrived that this would be the cost of a haircut of half an hour without shampoo and blow dry ! It is discouraging, I must say, to consider being a regular customer at your salon. While Carol was pleasant and professional, $120 for a hair cut as described above is, allow me to say, a rip off. read more

AVOID! All Taz is concerned with is getting you in and out as quickly as possible to get the next butt in a seat. They do not care about you, want you in and out and to take your money at WAY overpriced rates. The quality is just not there anymore, and there is absolutely no customer service. They also rarely answer their phone and when they do answer it's as if your bothering them. There are way better salons in the kingsway/junction that will treat you better and do a far superior job on your hair. read more

Hair cut is awful, its always hard to tell right away until you style it yourself. But it is uneven and looks more dead than it did going in. She chopped off random layers even though its supposed to be a VERY blunt bob. I got orange highlites. my hair looked better before I went in. Prices on the website are not right. They are much more expensive than what is listed. I would have been fine if they did an outstanding job, but I wasnt happy, I will never go back. Edit: I forgot to mention- the only thing I look forward to is the hair wash. Which, let me just say, he got water all down my back and the front of my face. Nice cold water. read more

I had a very bad experience having my hair coloured at Taz Hair Salon. I booked an appointment and met with the hair and colour specialist and I showed her a photo of my hair when I had it done previously. My roots were grown out however the hair colour I wanted to match was still 3/4 of my hair length. I let the colour specialist know that I wanted to have my roots coloured to match the grown out hair I had and to lighten it but keep it the same tone it was. When I was finished, my hair was stripped of the blonde colour I had. It was a mix of grey/white and had absolutely no resemblance of the colour I came in with nor the photo I showed the specialist. I am very upset with the service that was provided and with the lack of effort from the specialist or salon to rectify my situation. They simply asked me to pay for the service. DO NOT go to this salon for hair colouring unless you are positive you are ok with anything other than what you are looking for. I would not recommend the specialist (Bouchra) and I have told my friends and family about the experience I had. 0 stars if it were an option. read more

Extremely un professional place! I'm so beyond upset. I heard nothing but good things about this place and was so excited to get my hair cut and they completely ruined my hair! Not to mention the staff and the management are so rude and weren't apologetic at all. I will NEVER ever be coming back here and I will never recommend this place to anyone! I've been to many salons in the Etobicoke area but I seem to always go back to Taz. I 100% recommend. Michelle, one of the senior colour techs has fixed my hair that another salon botched with bleach. I usually see John or Aprille for cuts and blow outs but all of the stylists are amazing. These professionals are masters of their craft. Each and every person at Taz, genuinely wants us to feel amazing about our hair and they go to great lengths to try to get us there. 10/10 read more

My hair was butchered beyond repair by the initial colourist. It will take a few more treatments to fix what was done. As such, I'm stuck with awful chunky bleach blonde highlights until my hair recovers from this. For a called upscale salon, I was appalled at the quality of the colouring that I received for the high price I paid. read more

I've had highlights 3 times here, each time I've had to go back to get the colour corrected. The last time I was there, Morgan left me under the dryer for an hour; my hair color was so dull and grey when she took out the foils. And she pretended she had no idea what I was talking about, which was super annoying. A senior stylist fixed it and was nice about it, but now 3 months later I went back to that senior stylist and my hair is dark and brassy. I don't understand why they can't get colour right. I have to give them 2 stars because they are nice about color correcting, but I don't have the time to waste going back here again. read more

Absolutely terrible experience at Taz on the Kingsway. I starting colouring my hair blonde in June 2016 with Amanda. I had several appointments with her afterwards (at least 3) to maintain and progress to the colour of blonde I wanted. In January 2017, I wanted to try toning my hair purple and went to another studio because they specialized in colourful hair. Before this happened my hair started to break. About 2 weeks later my hair was not in great shape so I called Taz to get a conditioning treatment. I asked for a free conditioning treatment because after all the damage it didn't seem like such a strange request. Clearly, Amanda was very sensitive and upset that I went to another studio so refused the free treatment which was fine and I paid for it. Now, almost 5 months later I called to book a colouring appointment with Amanda and now has refused to see me again because of this. I am pretty shocked with the poor treatment and I never even knew there was an issue. It is unfortunate that this has happened and I am very dissapointed with the lack of professionalism at this establishment. I had been coming to the studio for 2 years and my mother for even longer. We both are no longer using Taz as our studio and if you want to be treated well, I would advise anyone else the same. read more

Rino is my stylist and I receive endless compliments every time I see him - he's a true expert in his field and I always put my full trust in him when it comes to cutting and styling my hair. First problem, pricing much higher then expected or that appears in their service menu. Secondly, since when does hair as short as just below the ear lobes and hair that is long to the bust line have exact same pricing in highlights? Two (2) of us came together, 1 with medium brown hair looking for auburn highlights....came out looking the same before the highlights done! Then the 2nd person coming in with reddish blonde highlights, noting that the never wanted the reddish colour, asking for blonde highlights and make the reddish areas blonde, walked out of the salon with REDDISH ORANGE hair! $350 later (highlights and supposedly free blow dry) and neither of us got what we came for. WORST HAIR DAMAGE EVER CAUSED BY JOANNE GRENC. If you want to pay $1500 for Great Lengths and have her and her liar companion damage all of your hair then get them done by this horrible woman. My hair was fine except for one part of it which was damaged by another salon, where the women left the highlights on for too long. i get color, and the color doesn't damage the hair at all but highlights can and I had one tiny bad area. Thanks to Joanne, cutting out my extensions instead of putting solution on it and slowly taking the extensions out, she damaged them and was using scissors to do this. Her and her assistant kept laughing while they were doing my hair. I wouldn't give them the satisfaction of crying. I didn't deserve what they did, it was cruel and unprofessional. Save yourself the money and do not go to such a horrible place. They are the worst at doing this regardless of what they've learned or can do, they just don't want to do it and they over charge for what they do while breaking your hair purposefully so they have to replace the extensions. Sue them if they do this and don't pay them but better STAY AWAY FROM JOANNE GRENC. read more

If I could give no stars I would. This is the first review I've written and probably will be the last, but after the horrible experience I've had with taz hair company I sincerely hope to save someone from the same situation. I found taz hair because I was interested in getting great lengths hair extensions because they are well known and reputable. I found taz hair company on the great lengths website, and figured everything would be good. The hair extensions were coming out within a few weeks, losing half their length and falling out, and I paid thousands. Probably 8000 dollars, between September and April! I knew the price, however I was paying for great lengths and these were Remi at best! I went to another stylist one time because I couldn't afford it one time, since it was just going to fall out in three weeks or less and what I found out I was appalled. Ladies! If you want to risk going there, and pay out the rear for salon prices, be my guest, but please please please ask to see your hair order in package, with an invoice in your name each and every time!! I never knew this before and funny how every time I went there the hair was already laid out because apparently it takes a while to prep! My new stylist shows me my hair in package, each and every time because she has integrity, and then she preps it in front of me which literally takes thirty seconds! Once I even had hair that had red highlights and was far shorter than what I'd asked, I use 20" extensions in the lightest shade of platinum blonde, but I couldn't see the screw up in the salon lighting. As soon as I got home I literally cried! If it had been in the package this wouldn't have happened. Apart from that the installation wasn't great, I've definitely seen better. I do my roots myself and when I had my hair bleached there I swore I'd never let someone else do it again because my hair is very light and developes in 10 min or less and the stylist left me in there and went outside, thank god there was no damage but it was scary. Also if I went in for extensions they would work on several clients at once, which caused the application to take nearly three times as long as with my new stylist! Horrid! What a scam it's ridiculous the bs you put up with people be very careful. read more

I went to Taz Hair Salon for my Bridal Hair and Makeup trial and calling the experience a 'Disaster' is an under-statement. Rino (The Stylist) more interested in checking himself out in the mirror then he was learning how to do an updo. He made my hair look frizzy and flat, and he pinned it up in a half bun which can only be described as how you would tie up your hair, while running on a treadmill! Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, the makeup trial started. The so called makeup artist had no formal training and it was obvious! Her makeup station was filthy, she used cheap products which were dirty, and resulted in a huge breakout on my face (I even washed the makeup off within an hour of getting home). The eyeliner was uneven, and you could see about 3mm of skin between my lid and where the eyeliner was actually drawn on. She didn't even know how to use an eyelash curler . . . Neither one of these individuals provided professional service, yet they feel justified charging $160 for the trial. I took photos of the end product to show friends and family - and normally in these situations your loved ones try to make you feel better about a situation. . . here was the feedback I received "No! No! No!", "You look awful", "Your hair looks like you just came home from the gym", "Your makeup is horrible", "You can't get married like that", "You look like a 5 year old coloured on your face"! I was in such a panic after this trial, that I cancelled my appointment and bridesmaids appointments with only 2 weeks until my wedding. I knew that worst case scenario would be, I would have to do my own hair and makeup, but it would have been far better than anything they could have done! read more
