I went to the Montville office and tried to roll my CD over into another one. The poor woman waiting on me had never saw me before and I had never saw her. No big deal so I thought. When she went on the computer, she said she needed to update my information. Ok, shouldn't be an issue right? Wrong! First the poor girl couldn't scan my drivers license. She got assistance with that, then informed me my employer that was listed was a company I left in 1996. I said I had not worked there since 1996 and had worked for 3 different companies since then, with direct deposit from these companies, so the credit union already knew these employers. I then said "I am not working now and am retired". I asked if she had the right account? I was informed it was, but then she asked my wife where she worked. My wife has not worked since 1996. The woman said she needed my wife to supply her with the employer she worked at in 1996. I thought this was ridiculous and said so, but she insisted she got the information and said she could not go any further without it. I started to get nervous she had the wrong account. She said this was a new policy and she could do nothing about this and I need to supply her with all new information. I told her we were going to stop the process and I was going to probably going to just close my accounts because this wasn't making any sense. My wife talked me into going to the Norwich office and see if we could get some answers there. That was a mistake! At the Norwich office where we pretty much do most of our business, had the same problem but worse. There we went thru the same thing, they wanted to know our information, had to scan my drivers license again, and had me listed as retired from the 1996 employer. They then wanted my email address which they already have and send me emails, imagine!! then started asking my wife where she worked and wanted her employer from 1996! One big vicious circle! I asked to speak with a manager and this ignorant, arrogant individual came in and said I needed to supply all this information because its their policy and if I don't I can close my accounts and leave! I left alright and went home to change all of my electronic banking direct deposits and paying to another bank so I can close my accounts and work with another bank who puts there customer first and treats them nicely!! Maybe someday the Charter Oak Credit Union can go back to the way they were years ago. Hopefully they get new management who understands customer service!

Very VERY POOR service at this location- have had account for just over a year and this is at least…read morethe 3rd major issue I have had! Yesterday I deposited a check from, not only this bank, but from this branch, to cover a check, but they didn't post my deposit as cash like they should have, but held it for 3 days- I called and spoke to supervisor who said she would call me back- of course she did not- I then went to a Middletown branch at 4:54pm and deposited cash and they removed the bounce fee and my account was again $30 over what I needed to cover my written check- I was even looking at my mobile account as well as discussing the accidental fees and made sure I had everything covered. Before leaving the bank.... well 3 hours later I checked my mobile and guess what?!? The Higganum branch STILL did NOT post the Original check (that was written from their branch as cash) and bounced my check yet AGAIN and charged me another $33 bounce fee! So now again, I am short three dollars for the original check that should've never bounced to begin with, plus the other bank is going to charge me at least two bounce fees and nobody at Liberty will take responsibility - this is not the first, nor even the second issue I've had with the Higganum Branch screwing things up and keeping access to my cash that should've been immediately available from me- tomorrow I go and close this account!!! It is worth the $12 a month to use Bank of America- they might overcharge you, but they've never screwed up my account in 14 years with them and I have always had access to my money! Oh yeah- their mobile app leaves a lot to be desired too!

The tellers have personalities and really know their business. One day in particular I used the drive thru but the tube wasn't working. Reached out for a little compassion, it got forwarded upwards with no response for over 24 hours. No resolution, no care. My checks disappear as soon as they hit, keeping me in this spot by design. If you're looking for a bank that understands mental health, real life, or just basic decency...look elsewhere. A lot of credit unions and online banks are way less predatory and don't depend on the struggling poor for a significant part of their revenue. If you look at their social medias and you'll notice something very telling about how they feel about diversity. Almost too obvious that this is the poor vs rich.
