Have had this bank for over 15 years. Recently (the past year or so) it has all went to hell and a hand basket. I am closing all my accounts with them including checking, savings, credit card, and loans. I have had issues with my cards just not working and having to get 4 new cards in one year and friendly but entirely unhelpful support. My last straw was finally their lack of help after being a loyal and good standing customer of theirs for so long when I fell on some hard times. They were the only bank that was absolutely unwilling to help me during my time of hardship, while all other credit/loan companies went over and beyond. They have always taken all the money that they can as soon as they could and charged abundant penalties with no remorse. While they were not obligated to help me, given our history and that everyone else was happy to do so, I will not be back in the future as I begin to grow my family and business and would like to know that my bank is more friendly and supportive in the future. I have banked with capital one for almost as long via their credit line and have had nothing but good reviews, no fees, better support (both over the phone and virtually), better interest rates, more forgiveness and ability to work with me in pursuing my financial goals and obligations. I have now opened my debit and savings with them, and will not be back here. read more

The TDECU Fraud Prevention Department has something wrong with their evaluation of potential fraudulent transactions. I routinely purchase products from Amazon, becasue I purchased several products for my grandchildren who live in different places within the same hour, TDECU declined the purchases. Fraud prevention called me, wassted my time, and promised to remove the hold on my card. However, whenever Amazon sent me an email the next day notifying me of the decline and asking me to fix the card issue, I tried to purchase the product again, only to have it declined again. This process has been repeated 3 times now. I have decided to change banking institutions. read more

Take your business elsewhere! Everyone I have dealt with over the last week including managers have been uneducated and have given the WORSE customer service ever! After numerous (recorded) conversations on the specific RV model and year I wanted to finance and a HARD credit pull including underwriting they call me to say they don't finance the model I want. You even called the dealer and told him we were approved and that he would have a check in the next few days. And now there is nothing you can do for me but reverse the HARD credit pull that takes 60-90 days at minimum to come off my credit. So if I even were to look for another finance company my score has now dropped 38 points under 800 my new APR would be more than what I should get. It took me 2 years to find this specific model and you so nonchalantly tell me I can look for another class. You will never ever get any of my business again. I have had several loans with you guys in which you messed up with them as well. You have cost me thousands of $ with your mess up. People stay far far away from TDECU!! read more

Today was my first time visiting this credit union and I did not have a good experience. I did not have an account with this credit union. My account was with another credit union which was out of state. I was under the impression that this credit union took part in the shared banking network. They do just not in the way I presumed. I was turned away and told they could not assist me with my withdrawal. The teller made it a point to tell me that although their own customers have the convenience of going to 'all other cu's' to handle their banking transactions, their cu denies this same convenience to customers of other institutions. She not only said this once but twice. How weird. So TDECU customers can go to my out of state credit union and conduct business just fine but TDECU denies to my credit union, and all others, the same convenience for their customers. When I left the bank I called the customer service line for TDECU (it's the only number listed for the bank) and asked to speak to a manager at the bank to verify the information I was told inside the branch and I was told that they could not transfer me or give out the phone number to the actual branch. They wanted me to give them my cell number to have a return call. That's not a very customer friendly policy. Why deny giving the public the number to the branch? One things for sure is I will never bank with these folks. Update: I just called my credit union Georgia's Own CU in Atlanta, GA. Come to find out TDECU is not even a part of the shared banking network that they are a part of. The woman at the counter was mistaken. read more

I was a happy member since 1980. I'm a disabled veteran that lives on my VA disability pension. They recently made a system change, adding a 7 to the member #. I called when informed via mail about it twice and was told "not to worry about it." This months payments were rejected and I had to take out a loan to pay rent. A week later after it was sorted out, and I wanted to pay off the loan I was forced to take out because of their error, I asked for the $5.17 interest fee to be waived or credited as a gesture of good customer service and support for a 30+ year member, or I would close the account, and I was told "sorry." I think they have grown too big for the good of their members. I USED to love thier support and help, and they USED to work with me if such an issue arose. Now I have nothing but contempt. read more

I was recommended by a friend and employee of TDECU. I made an online appointment 2 days prior to my visit. I received a confirmation email to arrive on time for my appointment. Checked in with the teller 5 minutes early, waited an additional 10 minutes. No contact was made to me, the branch was not busy at all. I went to the other teller and asked how much longer I needed to wait. Just another moment he said. I asked how long is another moment, maybe another 5 minutes. I said can I have a business card, no response. A woman leaving her office came out. I asked for her card, she was the branch manager. Asked why I was waiting since I had an appointment and the branch was not busy. She offered to help me, but being frustrated I decided to leave. TDECU needs to have better ways of helping out a customer when their debit card has been compromised getting them a new one should not take 7 damn days to receive a replacement. This bank is dependent on their personal branch customer service. Which is great! However, I must give this bank a sub-par score because their online capabilities are years behind. They are always down. On a very consistent basis, I would call only to be told that their systems are down. This happened way too often. Another time, I attempted to reset my password by phone. I answered their questions for 20 min and I was eventually told that their system has been locked down and I would have to go into a branch. This particular situation was extremely inconvenient because I was out of the state at the time. This bank is terrible the customer service inside May be personable and they may put on a great front of how they are there for YOU. However, once a member there is nothing but issues, all of there employees are not properly informed and what one will tell you the other will tell you something different and swear that the other person doesn't know what they are talking about. Don't even bother calling them it'll be a waste of your time, and hidden fees? Oh yes they will change the amount of fees or change there policy without informing you until it's the day you talk to them and then notice something's different. Overall horrible guest relations. They can't even remember my name and I've had to speak with then multiple times a week over the course of a year just to resolve a simple transaction. Patricia at the Heights location, went above and beyond to assist us with the necessary paperwork we needed to purchase a car we had picked out. It was 10 minutes to closing time for our branch TDECU to close, and we had already gotten approval for our car loan the day before, when we decided we were ready to close the deal on the car. We had gotten to the dealer late in the afternoon due to heavy traffic and the distance traveling all the way out to Alvin from Houston. At the dealership, I called the credit union to arrange for the payment draft to be sent to the dealer, yet I reached a voicemail message, saying they were "assisting other customers and to please leave a message and we will call you back as soon as possible". Our hearts sank as we just knew that we were too late, and that they were probably closing out for the day and wouldn't bother returning our call until the next day. As the dealership was a small independent operation in Alvin and was also closing at 6:30, we were disappointed because we figured we would not be able to get the car that day after all and we would have to come back to take care of the business end another day. Lo and behold, Patricia called us back right about 6:00 and said she would be happy to help us and didn't care that her office was already technically closed for the day. She assured us she would send the draft to the dealer and help us get our car that evening! She faxed over the paperwork and stayed on the line with us until the dealer confirmed they had received it and we were good to start signing the paperwork. All in all, we were probably on the phone with her for about 20-30 minutes and she kept reassuring us she was there to help us and that she wasn't going to leave us hanging. Bless her heart, she was true to her word and we drove out with our new car a little before 7:00 that evening, as the dealer was closing up the shop for the night and locking the gates! We really appreciated her professionalism and exceptional customer service. I think the other reviewers who griped about bad service, are probably the demanding, "I want it yesterday" types, who don't have good communication skills, or good credit! They hear what they want to hear and always think they are the "wronged" party. We were patient with the process, and Patricia was very kind and patient with us too! We were very pleased with the service and the excellent loan rate we received. I highly recommend TDECU over the large chain banks! read more

This bank is so unorganized and outdated the website constantly locks you out which makes it impossible to download the app or check account information online. This bank charge me 3 of nsf fees each 32.00 even though I deposited the funds back in the account the same day due to an emergency. This was not explained to me when i opened the account, i was extremely upset because most banks give you until the end of business day to balance the account. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.. WASTED OUR TIME. LOST US A HOME WE WERE TRYING TO PURCHASE WITH LATE SERVICE. Was on hold for 1hr to speak to the manager, had a bad experience with the loan officer Patricia. Went in on Thursday for a personal loan with my husband and to also open a checking account since we only have a vehicle loan with TDECU. Patricia took down all our information, got us excited about the amazing benefits this credit union has to offer, and encouraged us to open up an account since their customer service is "great". We were purchasing a home in cash from a seller who no longer lives in Houston SHE WAS COMING OUT OF HER WAY FOR US. We explained to the loan officer Patricia that we needed all our information done by Friday evening. She said it wasn't a problem an she'd have it done by 10am. Friday at noon haven't heard from her. Called her 3xs left voicemails. NO ANSWER. NO RETURN CALL. NO EMAIL. Monday comes around called her AGAIN 2xs bcus our seller is telling us she's ready for us for Tuesday. My husband had to actually GO IN to the BANK to get Patricia to talk to him and she acted like she didn't know who we were, didn't "remember us, and also didn't run our application." She also lost our paper work with our socials and references she then told my husband that her phone doesn't work and he shouldn't leave voicemails Cus it doesn't work. WHY WOULD I WANT TO BANK WITH SOMEONE WHO FORGETS YOU AS A MEMBER? WHO IGNORES YOUR CALLS? WHO LOOSES YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION? WHY WOULD WE BANK WITH SOME ONE WHO SAYS THEIR PHONES DONT WORK?! i will never get another auto loan with tdecu. they reported i had a missed payment. i had to dispute with credit bureau. i had to get a statement to show i never had a missed payment. then they charged me late fee's for being late. my grace period is the 20th, i make my online payments on the 20th and because they get the payment 2 days later they charge a late fee. i had to dispute those as well. read more
