This place is awesome. Just like street and night market food in Taiwan, you get to order small portions and try everything.

I gave this place 2 stars because the food was close to inedible. We ordered wings and fries that were so salty that we couldn't eat them. They have a house seasoning salt that someone in the back is over using. The atmosphere and vibe is really nice tho. I like how dim and relaxed the environment is. I got an iced coffee, daughter had a milk tea and we really enjoyed the beverages. Would I go back? Just for drinks, possibly for dessert. It's nicer to sit in Tea Hut than Coco. read more

Did takeout on a Saturday night from here. Good flavours all around that were reminiscent of Taiwan. The mushroom chicken was the highlight, good flavour on the sauce and worked well with the rice. Braised pork was very nostalgic with melty pork belly and egg. Lamb hot pot had a really nice broth with glass noodles and sliced lamb which all worked well together. The popcorn chicken lost a bit of crunch during transport but the flavours were still very much on point. read more

Good bubble tea hangout spot in Hamilton!!! Tea Hut offers a menu full of bubble tea creations, Asian snack foods and even full meals like rice bowls, soups, single hot-pots, etc. I've been here quite a few times now and its pretty decent bubble tea, especially when there's not a lot in spots in Hamilton and they serve food, which is great too. The place is pretty spacious inside with tons of booth tables, so its great to bring friends and they even have free board games you can play with too. I would recommend their "Thai Milk Tea" with grass jelly - such a classic for me, and it really just reminds me of good Thai iced tea, which is hard to find in Hamilton. Decent place in Hamilton for some bubble tea. I like how the place stays open late for those late night cravings. It gets really crowded here often especially during Fridays and weekends. There's a HUGE variety of food and drinks, and there's a ton of different toppings you can get with the drinks. Their milk tea is decent. Don't get the red bean milk tea - it's gross and tastes really gritty. Place is a little dishevelled looking but very open and welcoming for groups. Service could be better. read more

The popcorn chicken is to die for! However i cant say the same about the boba, i got a taro milk tea and it wasn't great, and had left some kind of taro powder in my mouth. I'd usually rate a 4 because of the boba but the popcorn chicken was so good that i have to give tea hut a 5. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Tea Hut is a place to get bubble tea, snacks or a meal for a decent price. Tea Hut's bubble tea is the most inexpensive out of all the bubble tea shops in Hamilton. A small black milk tea with tapioca will set you back only $2.99 + $0.50. Any flavour of "smoothie" bubble tea with tapioca will cost you $3.89 + $0.50. (Smoothie = blended milk and ice. Similar to the slush option that some bubble tea shops offer.) I like to order the passion fuit green tea with tapioca and it always delivers. I have noticed that the pudding black milk tea always ends up powdery no matter how long i shake the cup prior to consumption. The honey dew and strawberry banana smoothies are very sweet but still delicious. When it comes to food, I have enjoyed all the items I've ordered in the past. My favourite snack item to order is the popcorn chicken. It's fried just right and has nice seasoning. The soy minced pork is a staple if I'm looking for a meal. Fluffy rice, marinated ground pork, a soy egg and broccoli. Black pepper chicken with rice is tasty but the pepper can be overwhelming. The beef stew udon has big chunks of beef, tender udon noodles and a broth that's a bit oilier than I'd like. The beef can sometimes be a bit chewy. Tea Hut takes cash, debit and credit but do not offer a loyalty card. The decor is interesting in the shop. Upon entrance you see comfy booths and an overall neutral decor (a lot of brown). There is a backroom with more booths and tables. The walls are decorated with under the sea themed paintings. The lighting throughout is very dim but each booth has an individual overhead lamp. There are board games, magazines, manga and cards to play with whileyou're here. There is no designated parking lot but many meter parking spots. Good thing parking is free after 6 pm Monday-Wednesday, after 9pm Thursday and Friday, and all day on the weekends. read more

I very rarely write negative reviews for places I visit, but I truly feel that others should be aware of the experience I had at this establishment, just as a a fair warning. So it was my first time going to this bubble tea restaurant, as I wanted to try a different location from my regular bubble tea shop I go to. As I first stepped in I noticed that it was fairly busy, but me and my friends still decided to seat ourselves. Once me and my friends were able to get a table, me and my friends noticed that other tables had menus and order forms, so I walked back to the front to also grab a menu and order form. This is when I met a very unpleasant employee, which I'll be referring to as strip shirt (which I assume to be the owner, as he was the only one not wearing a uniform). When I went to the front of grab an order form and menu, strip shirt asked me "what are you doing?" to which I replied "Oh, I'm just grabbing an order form for my table," from there strip shirt said to me in a passive aggressive tone "well you don't need to get one, a waiter will come to you. So go sit back down and wait for a waiter" at this point I felt attacked, because other people were present when he said this, and also the fact that he just assumed that this fact was a known thing, and that I was wrong for not knowing. So me and my friend eventually were able to order drinks and food, and I did notice that the food was pretty salty, like many other review said but it was not bad. Me and my friends received most of our food in a reasonable amount of time, besides one friend who had ordered the strawberry egg waffle. Yes I'll give it to them that the shop was pretty busy, but it was the fact that when we went to front to ask an employee about the status of her order, we encountered strip shirt again. We approached the counter and said "hi there, our table still waiting for a strawberry egg waffle" and note that we had been waiting for almost and hour and half now, to which strip shirt said "we're working on it right now, could you please be a little more patient and sit down and wait" at this point I was very uncomfortable, because the way he replied he seemed mad at the fact that we were asking where our order was. It wasn't like we cancel the order or refusing to pay, it was literally just asking/reminding, for the off case they may have forgot or overlooked the order. Now for the cherry on top, after my friend received her strawberry egg waffle, we decided that we were ready to pay, but just before we left we wanted to order a few more drinks for the ride home. So we went to the front to pay for our food and place another order, this time we noticed another employee working the counter so, we quickly approached the counter to get her from her, rather than strip shirt. But when we got to the counter, strip shirt looked at us and said "here to pay for your food ?" to which we had to reply "yes," so we paid for our food and drinks, and then said "we would also like to get 2 Chai milk teas to go" to which strip shirt said "well we close in 30 minutes, so we can't make your drinks. You should know that," me and my friends did agreed that it was bad that we were ordering so close to closing so we said "okay that's alright we understand," and we walked away. Just before we left my friend said she needed to use the washroom, so me and my friends wait as my one friend quickly ran to the washroom, while we were waiting me and my friends notice that strip shirt who was still working the counter, had rang up a couples order of food and drinks, but while they were paying for their order, they had asked to place an additional order of drinks to go, to which strip shirt rang up with a single mention of not being able to, as they were closing in 30 minutes. At this point me and my friends were hurt, as we felt that strip shirt was spitefully attacking us, for no reason at all. After seeing this I approached the counter and looked at the other worker, the one actually making the drinks and said "hi there is it too late to place an order?" To which she kindly replied "no it is it not" at this point was looking strip shirt, who note was on his phone, avoiding eye contact with me, which gave me a clear indication that he definitely said that just because he didn't want to give us our drinks. Overall as a first impression, it was not that good and definitely not worth it. After encountering Strip Shirt, if I had to choose, I would rather walk down the block and wait in the long line in Coco's fresh tea, rather than having to meet strip shirt again. read more

The food is AMAZING. I used to visit them many times when I used to study around here. I tried most of their dishes, and never got disappointed. Their fried chicken, popcorn chicken, and Taiwanese sausage are my fav. Not like authentic Taiwanese flavor, but the taste is great. If you're ever in Hamilton and tempting for some Taiwanese/ Chinese food, and of course BUBBLE TEA, definitely come by Tea Hut. read more

5 stars for bubble tea! Great quality and taste, the place is always busy so they're doing something right except one thing, nice employees! Some of the female employees are SO rude it makes me want to give business elsewhere, but the owner is really nice, as well as the taller gentleman who is usually there so maybe he isn't aware. If you want high quality, authentic bubble tea this is the place to go. They are even open till midnight or later! They also have games and movies and private rooms for just hanging out, something western culture does not know! If they spice up the customer service I'd give this place 5 stars. read more

We got in there and all the workers seemed awkward we sat down and the tables where all jacked up/moved around we wrote down what we wanted and even tho we wrote it down how it's suppose to be they still messed up our order and we asked for some assistance expecting a cut down price and the lady told us we have to pay in full which is fine but we asked why it happened and she shrugged her shoulders and walked away I don't recommend this place at all read more

Great place to hang out and get a snack or a meal. While the restaurant itself is dark and not the most aesthetically pleasing, the staff are friendly and the bubble tea is really good. My favourite bubble tea is the hazel one as others can come off tasting slightly diluted. Their menu items are also really yummy, such as the omurice. The service is a little different but very efficient. You enter, pick up the menu, and decide where the sit. Overall, I definitely recommend this place for a casual place to chill with friends. read more
