I always enjoyed my appointments, not only because it led to healing but also because I genuinely enjoyed Dr. Charbel's company. He is one of the kindest, most caring professionals I've encountered. I most appreciate how Dr. Charbel is an active listener and remains present throughout the visit. In fact, I was actually sad when I no longer needed to be treated weekly. Fast forward to January: I returned to Dr. Charbel for acupuncture in the same arm for maintenance. He let me know that he was opening a second clinic downtown, and that his newest chiropractic physician, Dr. Jen, was joining him. When it came time to book my next monthly appointment, I requested to have it at his new downtown location. The new clinic is beautiful. It has all of the same services offered, and--best of all--Dr. Charbel is there on certain days of the week. Back in April, I unfortunately broke my right leg during a soccer game. It was my second time…read morebreaking my right leg in an 18-month span. Because of this, I was crushed. Knowing I would have to go through another recovery process where I would be missing out on moments of my college experience was tough. With this injury, I was able to put pressure on my leg much quicker than my previous injury, meaning I was more nervous to walk than the first time where I was non weight-bearing for six weeks. When I arrived at Athletico for my first appointment, however, I knew I was in good hands. I worked with Ashley throughout my recovery process and couldn't be more thankful for her guidance in the recovery process. She was always very kind, responded well to my feedback towards exercises, and progressed me at a pace that allowed me to recover as fast as I did. Although I did not work with Dan and Jenna as much, I can confidently say that they would have done the same for me. The PT team at Athletico is one of the kindest bunches who cultivate a positive work environment. I could not only sense this from the constant jokes and encouragement, but also from the aids who work alongside the PTs matching their energy and guidance. The scheduling process with Athletico is extremely simple and I found myself being able to schedule myself at convenient times for 6-8 sessions at a time. Because of this, I was able to work Athletico into my weekly routine, leaving it closer to the front of my mind on days where I had appointments. Having this availability led to consistency, which gave me more confidence in my recovery going forward. The quality of exercises and programs that Athletico offers is extremely valuable as well. Each take-home exercise has a well-thought description to match the picture shown. There are also video representations of these exercises through Athletico's health portal for you to be able to see an example of a certain workout. In less than two months out from surgery, I was not only able to travel to Eugene, OR for my internship with USA Track & Field, but also hike up to the highest point of Spencer Butte Park. Athletico's take-home program prepared me with exercises and stretches to properly take care of myself before and after the hike. Without their guidance and care during the first few months of my recovery process, this hike with my friends in Eugene would not have been possible. In conclusion, I could not be more thankful for Athletico and their staff for helping me feel confident on my feet once again. The PT experience at Athletico is exceptional and I would recommend them to anyone recovering from an injury!

It was recommended to me by both my primary care physician, and also by a good friend. Since becoming a regular, I have discovered that many other friends are treated or trained there as well . . . friends whose opinions I value and who agree with me. Before finding IROC, I tried PT at various places . . . some felt more like factories . . . some PTs pushed me beyond my limits, causing injuries that halted further progress and recovery. I have a number of issues with both of my knees and lower back and have been trying to avoid surgery. I have primarily worked with Frank Klene, the owner of IROC. He has been wonderfully successful at improving the function and pain level in these problem areas and as a consequence, balance and mobility have improved as well. He has even successfully treated me for vertigo, caused by an inner ear problem! Frank, as well as the office and PT staff have been efficient, friendly and helpful . . . the caring atmosphere feels more like a family than just a business. Amy the Amazing! I'm not exaggerating when I say it was a life changing experience. She started by asking about my pain level, 1 to 10. I explained that all the time it's a 1, but I can live with that. Now it's a 4 and that's too much. She was optimistic that she could help not only with the acute pain, but with the chronic pain as well. The exercises she taught me were easy to remember and execute at home. I'm feeling better than ever. On my first visit, Amy estimated how many weeks of physical therapy I'd need, then they scheduled ALL my appointments. It was so nice to have that out of the way and not have to schedule new appointments each week. Expect to be sore. My initial injury pain was slowly replaced by that good post-workout soreness, but it definitely wasn't a pain free experience. Do the exercises. You're literally only hurting yourself if you skip them.

Depending on your situation, it will depend on your routine, but for myself: I'm always warmly welcomed to the desk and start out with a warm up to ease into harder exercises. The trainer never pushes you further than you want to go, but always tries to get the best out of you. The one downfall here is that the trainers, or PT's, you work with are not consistent and I don't get the same results each time. Unfortunately, the routine differs with each PT, and developing a relationship with someone is important in my book - it helps you get comfortable and move along in the process.
