I recently had the good fortune to become acquainted with Matthew McLean of Shoreline Realty in…read moreDaytona Beach after observing his excellent service involving the sale of a neighbor's beachside Daytona Beach home. When I decided to put my own house on the market a few months ago, I remembered Shoreline Realty from the name on the side of Matthew's pick-up truck, looked him up, and reached out. We met at my home soon after to get acquainted, have Matthew get a look at the house, and voice our thoughts on appropriate updates/repairs, the asking price, for getting it on the market, etc. With Matthew's guidance and assistance in facilitating preparations, the house was listed on April 20th, had six showings, and had two solid offers within a week. In the interim, I've come to know Matthew as a high-energy person of integrity, with a wealth of local knowledge and resources who grew up in the area and is finely tuned to the local real estate markets. He's reliable, intelligent yet relatable, driven yet chill, and knows how to market properties to the best advantage for both buyers and sellers. His appreciation and knowledge of older homes such as mine, as well as his knowledge of how houses of all eras are put together (and his sense of humor), is a bonus. If you are looking for a real estate agent in Volusia County who's willing to put in the work and go the extra mile, I enthusiastically recommend Matthew McLean of Shoreline Realty.

I hired Alice Cooper as my real estate agent. I was living out of town prior to purchasing the…read moreproperty and was in the process of moving back to the area. I saw a beautiful looking foreclosure for sale that was listed at a very reasonable price. I told Alice to make an offer on the property even though I was out of town due to the fact that I would be able to cancel the contract based on the home inspection report. Once we signed the contract on the property Alice seemed no longer interested to serve me as a client. I had not yet done a walkthrough of the property and I was unable to make my home inspection due to my work schedule. I asked Alice to attend my inspection and to please report to me any undesirable findings. Following the inspection Alice stated that she did not notice anything of concern and that the house was beautiful. The only major finding in the inspection report was that the water heated needed to be replaced. Replacing a water heater is an easy fix so I decided to move forward with the sale. However, as closing approached I was already moved back to the area and had begun working for my company. I was renting a room from a friend and my household items were in storage as I awaited to move into my new home. A few weeks leading to closing I had contacted Alice several times regarding a walkthrough of the property. Every time I told her I had a day off she would give me an excuse as to why she could not meet me for a walkthrough. The excuse was always that she was too busy that day with other clents. Well, what about this client, Alice? I had hired you and we already had a property on contract and you were soon to make a commission check off my sale. I find it very discourteous that a realtor who just made thousands of dollars off of me was unwilling to give me a walkthrough of my property. A few weeks passed and the closing date arrived. Alice of course was too busy to do a final walkthrough with me. A final walkthrough is a standard practice in a real estate transaction. Based off the pictures, Alice's review, and the inspection report I foolishly decided to sign the closing documents. Time came to move into the house and the first time I entered the house I was the owner. As soon as I opened the door the first time I noticed a significant issue with the house. Upon inspection it was much worse than I had hoped. I don't want to go into detail about the issue but it was significant enough to where I had to sell all of my furniture, move all of my clothes and other items out of the house, and relocate to Orlando for work. I have been living with a close friend for the past year plus, all the while paying a mortgage on a property that I have been unable to live in. I recently sold the property but it took me over one year of full time work and thousands of dollars to rid the house of this particular issue. I renovated the house top to bottom and received close to 25,000 dollars on the sale so in the end I won, but it came at the expense of having to sell or throw away most of what I own, relocate for work, and having to live with someone else for over a year while still having to pay a full mortgage on an unlivable property. I find it strange how Alice did not notice this particular issue with the house. I only had to crack the front door open to notice it. It only got worse while inspecting the rest of the house. Everyone who visited my house noticed the issue immediately and did not wish to stay long. What's even more strange is that Alice kept blowing me off to do a walkthrough. She failed to provide me with a walkthrough on an unlivable house yet tells me that the house is beautiful. That seems a bit strange doesn't it? I'm sure Alice had no idea that the house had such a significant issue and wasn't intentionally blowing me off knowing I would cancel the sale. I'm sure she wasn't just waiting for that commission check. That's not what it was, right, Alice? My home inspector is a whole other issue, but both the inspector and Alice are protected from lawsuits by their contracts and they know it. Adams Cameron realty is just as guilty. They hired Alice to represent them. I contacted the office manager and requested that someone from their office come to my property to inspect the issue first hand to validate my claims. I also informed them that Alice refused to give me a walkthrough of the property prior to closing. The officer manager failed to have anyone visit my property and she defended Alice stating that she has known her for almost twenty years and that she would never do anything like that. Well, she did. I lost over one year of my life. All of 2017 and the first half of 2018 were an absolute nightmare for me simply because Alice Cooper refused to work for the best interest of her client. Alice Cooper was seeking her own interest. Alice Cooper is an absolute disgrace as a real estate agent and a disgrace as a human being. She should hold her head in shame.

Based on that commitment, she drove two and a half hours to spend the weekend with me so we could view the property together. The day before the appointment, the agent called to cancel. His explanation was that because my mother's current home sale had not officially closed, he didn't want to show her the property. We were told, in essence, that there was no point in showing the home until her sale was final. Here's the problem. Her home is already under contract, and the paperwork is actively being completed. This was not a casual inquiry or someone "just looking." She is a serious buyer who made travel plans based on an appointment your company scheduled. If that was your policy, it should have been communicated before confirming the appointment, not after she had already rearranged her weekend and driven hours to be here. The entire experience came across as unprofessional, dismissive, and disrespectful of a customer's time. It also raises the question of how motivated Four Star Homes is to sell homes if confirmed appointments are canceled simply because an agent decides a buyer isn't worth meeting. We will be taking our business elsewhere, and I would encourage other buyers to think twice before making travel plans based on an appointment with this company.

I am leaving this review to warn others and document my experience with this company in detail, as…read moreI believe there are significant issues with their business practices that prospective renters should be aware of. **Communication & Responsiveness** Throughout the entire process, communication was virtually nonexistent. Neither Diego nor Brock responded consistently to phone calls, text messages, or emails. There was no proactive outreach, no status updates, and no acknowledgment that inquiries were even received. Clients are left entirely in the dark. **Application Process & Transparency** After submitting a completed application and paying all associated fees, the listing was quietly removed with no explanation or communication. We were told we were the only applicants. However, we were later informed that another applicant had "out-scored" us based on an internal scoring system that is never disclosed to applicants. I find it difficult to believe that a competing applicant was able to tour, apply, and be fully approved within a window of roughly 3.5 hours (between 6:00 PM and 9:30 AM). The fees collected are non-refundable regardless of outcome. **Management & Accountability** When we visited the office in person, Brock assured us we would receive an update by end of day. When we followed up the next morning, he stated it was "not his department" and transferred us to voicemail -- this from someone who is listed as an owner of the business. The lack of accountability and dismissive attitude toward paying clients is unacceptable. **Landlord Relations** Perhaps most concerning was a conversation we had directly with the property owners, who shared that they had been waiting months to fill their rental and were on the verge of listing the home for sale -- completely unaware that any interested applicants existed. This suggests a serious disconnect between this company and the landlords it claims to represent. A review of the property's Zillow rental history appears to support a pattern: the listing cycles on and off the market repeatedly, fees are collected, applicants are told another party was selected, and the property is relisted weeks later with claims that the prior placement fell through. **Final Note** I would strongly encourage anyone considering this company to first review their Better Business Bureau profile. Based on the pattern of responses to negative reviews -- typically directing complainants to contact a specific staff member or call the office, with no actual resolution -- I expect a similar response here. Based on our experience, I would not anticipate that contact to lead anywhere productive. This review is submitted in good faith to help others make an informed decision.

All I heard from them was excuses and numerous requests for me to lower the rent. I was asking the market rental rate. Their advertising was WEAK, I had to ask them to put up a sign and when they did, it was a cheap wire frame sign that the HOA had me remove. Their website presence was horrible and they are not responsive. They posted the wrong pictures, then took weeks to correct it. My sliding screen door was ripped sometime during the showings, I asked them to repair it and they blew me off. I hired a new property manager and had renters within 1 month.
