I have known Rebecca for a few years when I met her needing a dog trainer for our Betty White, who is leash reactive. I had been through some "meh", and not so great trainers who used fear tactics for my sweet girl, and so I was reluctant to try another, but I knew she needed help. Once I met Rebecca, I knew her philosophy aligned with mine and what i wanted for Betty. Rebecca came to our home, did an consult/meet and greet, to determine where Betty was with her learning, and what motivates her, ahem, treats. :) Long story short, it was clear that clicker training was best and so Rebecca taught us what we needed to do on our walks to get her to stop jumping at cars passing by, or people on bikes going by. Note, we had homework. If a trainer tells you that he/she can "fix" your dog and doesn't have you involved nor give you things to work on, run! Also needing to be said, if you don't do your homework and work with your pet, then training won't work for you. From the screaming at the top of his lungs, to lunging at other dogs, I had to basically just keep him home all the time. I had hired 4 dog trainers in the past and spent several thousand dollars trying to control my dog. I ended up having to drug him if we wanted to go anywhere. He used to take prozac regularly, and trazodone & xanax as needed. He would be on enough drugs to knock a grown man out and still be screaming in the car trying to jump on my lap. I decided to take my Bentley to Triangle K9 for their board and train program to hopefully get his anxiety under control to a manageable level. They had him for 3 weeks and it was hard to be away from him for so long, but it was so worth it! I couldn't believe how well he behaved in the car on the way home, not medicated at all!! Mike the head trainer was awesome to work with, and he offers a lifetime of touch-up training sessions if we need it. He even offered to help me take him to public places to get him completely acclimated to being around groups of people and other dogs. I was beginning to think there was no hope for Bentley to live a normal dogs life, but I am so so glad that I took him to Triangle K9! Thank you Mike!!

He had strict care instructions and we told them many times that he has to be walked with his help- me -up harness just for them to deliver him to us without a leash and without holding onto his harness. They first give us the wrong bed so he was obviously not in the correct crate and then we were told that he was also let out with other dogs when he was not supposed to have any contact with other dogs. For these people to be a "medical boarding " place they do not listen. We told them many times and even called and checked just to make sure that they were doing the correct thing. Obviously they do not listen so I would recommend any other place but this one. My dog was freshly two weeks off of surgery and was not supposed to be walking at all, but apparently that means nothing to them. Before we took him in he was in perfect health to be 2 weeks out of surgery. He has an appointment coming up and if anything is remotely wrong it will be there solely fault.

Amazing choice of music at a reasonable volume. Reasonable temp, on the warmer end in the summer. I heard about West Street Dog from a family member and was excited to give it a try. I didn't see a parking lot so I paid (~$1.50) for street parking. Street parking is free after 6 pm. There were several street parking spots available. West street dog is easy to locate and lists specials on a sign out front. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by two employees sitting at the front. They welcomed us and walked us through all the details since it was our first time. Save time by downloading the app (required) and filling out the contract in advance. Bring your dog's vaccination records at your first visit. One time visits to use the off-leash area is $10. They also have a monthly membership option. They keep your card on file for the off-leash section charges, the bar is separate. To use the leashed section is free. The bar is double-sided so you can order from the leashed and off leash sides. We primarily hung out in the off leash section. I like the set up since it provides ample room for dogs to play and customers to sit and watch their dog. The middle section is turf where dogs can use the bathroom. They ask that you clean up after your dog goes #2. Then an employee rinses the area with a hose. During our visit an employee hung out in the play area to watch the dogs. The employees here definitely love dogs. My dog received so much attention and had a blast. The dogs seemed to get along well. When some became rowdy, an employee gently separated them or sprayed them with water. We visited on a Friday evening and there were about 15 dogs. Only thing I didn't like is that it smelled like pee, which I understand is a challenging smell to combat. We can't speak on the dog boarding as we only tried the bar and off-leash area. Overall, we had a great time and recommend this park to others!

After the incident, I repeatedly requested information and the video footage the business claims supports its account. Although they have referenced this footage, it has not been provided. Instead, I was told they determined there was no negligence on their part and that they would not reimburse any veterinary expenses. I am deeply disappointed not only that my dog was injured while under their supervision, but also by how the situation has been handled since. Rather than transparency, I have received shifting explanations, refusals to provide requested materials, and a denial of responsibility without access to the evidence they reference. My dog's veterinarian has confirmed that surgery is medically necessary, which has been both emotionally and financially devastating. While I understand accidents can happen, I cannot accept the lack of accountability and transparency when a pet is seriously injured in a business's care. Based on my experience, I do NOT recommend this business.

When I contacted Steve by his website, he called me the same day. He was so helpful during our phone conversation. We talked right at an hour and that is just something you won't find! I couldn't believe all the time he took, just over the phone. Not only did he ask questions, but he gave some advice as well. Steve made me feel comfortable and he came across as very friendly on the phone. He was not the least bit pushy about coming out or setting up a session. No pressure at all. He came out, met me and my Beagle and went above and beyond for us. He not only got to know me and my Beagle and the situation, but he explained so many things that I would have never known about dogs and their behavior. During our session, he was so patient with me and my Beagle. My Beagle did better at taking instruction than I did and when I was confused or had to ask Steve to tell me something again, he never once came across as frustrated or impatient with me. He never made me feel like I was an idiot. He simply re-explained things to me. He is incredibly patient, kind, professional, knowledgeable and nice! I learned a lot during our session and he even told me to call him anytime I had any questions. He is an asset to the dog training community and I look forward to implementing what he taught me. My husband was out of town so I was heading in alone with my female 6 year old chihuahua so she could see him and not be confused about where he was. Dr. Highsmith was amazing. I had never met her before. She was so calm and gentle with my dog, she kept telling him what a good boy he was while I sobbed. She fit me in between appts and did not make me feel rushed in any way. She told me to take as much time I needed. I felt really supported and cared for and she took such good care of my boy. Now I will add her to my personal list of highly trusted vets to take care of my furbabies. I have worked with 3 vets from Bayleaf and all have been wonderful.
