this is where the laptop fire started when they changed the battery
    Codi L.

They destroyed my laptop, causing it to burst into flames (see photo). I brought my Mac laptop in for a battery change and when they opened it they said that the machine burst into flames. They said this sometimes happens, but I called Cornice, an official Mac repair shop, and they said that Apple has strict protocols that repair shops should follow in order to prevent ignition of the batteries and clearly Computer Solutions did not follow them. They called me up and basically told me "sorry we burnt your computer". No offer for any compensation or anything, except an offer to help transfer the files to another computer (whoop-de-doo). I don't understand how they can look themselves in the eye and call themselves a repair shop or believe they are doing anything of ethical value. I should have known because there was a red flag when I dropped off the laptop: they ran some "diagnostic" program to see if there was anything they could find to suggest other issues besides the battery and she came back with a report on the screen that showed two disk drives. She pointed out that there were a few minor errors on one of the drives, but I only have one drive and the drive with the error was obviously the flash drive she inserted into the laptop that contained the diagnostic program!!! Sheer incompetence. Never again. Will only go to official authorized Mac dealers from now on. I should have taken them to small claims court, but maybe I'd have gotten $1000 and not worth the time, effort, and attorneys fees, plus they could just try to hide behind the signed service order agreement that said I wouldn't hold them at fault for anything that went wrong. Not worth the effort, but definitely worth me warning the community not to go there. FYI I am a professor at CSUSB, not a bot or a competitor. this is a real review. UPDATE to manager comment: this was 11 months ago but the details are not blurry at all, and my delay in this review changes nothing material to the situation. No one ever offered to replace the computer for me or to compensate me for the value of the computer, only to transfer the files from the recovered hard drive and refund the minimal deposit for the repair. The store rep callously suggested that I could try to sell the recovered parts, presumably on eBay or Craigslist, which is a non-solution. My priority at the time was getting back to work on a pressing deadline using a backup computer, not investing time and energy arguing with a repair shop, so I chose not to press the issue, particularly because it seemed clear to me that they were not interested in the only thing that mattered: compensating me for the computer they destroyed.

    My pc they built.

So I saw a Living Social ad for this company a few weeks ago and wanted to check out the reviews…read moreof this company before committing. I should have known something was up since they had just one review, which has since disappeared, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. On Yelp, I realized they had an even better deal than the deal being offered on Living Social. The Yelp deal was a $75 for $100 offer. BEFORE I bought the Yelp deal, I decided to call them. I wanted to know a number of things before spending my money. I wanted to know how much they regularly charge to fix the screens of an iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, I also wanted to know if I bought the Yelp ad, would they (a) still be honoring the Yelp ad, and (b) would it cover the screen repair costs of both phones. The guy said that yes the Yelp ad would cover both phones and that they would still honor it. I was even repeated my questions like three times to try to ensure that what happened wouldn't happen. So, I hang up, satisfied with all the answered questions and purchase the Yelp. I call the business back to set up an appointment. The guy at the repair shop tells me that it's good I am setting up an appointment because I would be using up his LAST iPhone 4 and 4S black screens. I make the appointment for 11am and ask him to verify the address I am going to. Cool, I think, our phones are gonna get fixed!!!! Fast forward to the day I am supposed to go get my phones fixed. I get a call at 10:41am that the appointment is not gonna happen until 11:30am and that instead of the previous address, he's gonna do it at the Starbucks down the street. Cool, no worries, I think. The guy shows up at 11:30 on the dot and tells me, wait for it... I CAN'T USE MY YELP DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told the guy that I called and made sure I was going to be able to. Guess who he blames?!?! YELP!!! He says that they were supposed to take down the deal by the beginning of the year and I even showed him that I bought it on the 20th of January. Three weeks into the year. Then this guy tries to make me feel bad by telling me that he himself had already purchased the screens to replace on our phones when the guy had told me earlier that they were the last ones in stock. He then told me that I should get a refund from Yelp and I could pay him $75 in cash or check and he would still fix my iPhones right then and there. I told him it was ridiculous and that I had called before even purchasing the yelp deal. He apologized and was nice enough, but honestly, I'd rather get a refund and pay an extra $20 to a company that doesn't lie to get me in the door. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! PAY THE SAME AMOUNT AND GO ELSEWHERE!!!!!!! Update to my review!!!!!!!! This guy kept messaging me to try to convince me(by offering to ix one of my phones for free) to take off my review because Yelp readers wouldn't read my entire review and assume they do bad work. I guess someone did read it. I wouldn't trust the bottom review since it is probably fake and came right after they asked me multiple times to remove my review. By the way these guys might do great work but even in the messages he sent me to convince me to take down my review he lied to me multiple times. Nice, man.
