Very poor service. Everything is extremely overpriced because the guy "can't compete with Amazon"

I recently got my dad a new computer a few months ago so it was surprising when he said there was something wrong with the computer. Apparently the CD was jammed and he was unable to use his CD drive or install the newly purchased software. I immediately acknowledged that the problem is out of my area of expertise. We began brainstorming solutions and personally I just don't like asking friends and family for favors. You usually owe them and over compensate with your gratitude. Honest payment for a completely task is more my thing. My dad instinctively thought to take it to Best Buy for the Geek Squad to repair, but I pointed out it might be expensive and time consuming. This is when I took out my trusty Yelp app to find a reliable local business that might be able to help us. Computer Central was one of the top returns and I gave them a quick call to see if this something they were familiar with. I spoke with Raul and he sounded confident about the CD-drive so I headed there with my dad's computer. The store is located off Benson and 9th. Look for "Computer" in red. It is a small store filled with a bunch of technology. They seem to fix a bunch of things. I hear they have been here for over 20 years already. Raul took my dad's computer and quickly identified the reason for the jam. I guess the CD wasn't put in all the way when it was pushed in. Raul was able to retrieve the software unscratched and the CD drive is still functional for just $60. What a relief!! Cash or checks only! They do not accept credit cards. I got a business card for my dad before leaving in case he has future computer issues and I'm not around. Computer Central is an honest small business and I can definitely see myself taking all of the family's computer problems here. read more

I took my PC to get diagnosed as it would not power on. By the time I arrived home I had a missed call from computer central with the diagnosis, my motherboard was bad. They did not charge me even after I offered to pay for their time. This shows they value customer service and satisfaction and they show it in how they run their business. These guys found a simple problem with my computer within seconds of me walking into the door and didn't ask for payment. The part I needed was cheap online (and I knew as soon as they told me), but just the same I asked them if I could purchase it from them (they didn't try to sell the part to me, but I wanted to continue to support honest business practices). If you're thinking about buying any computer parts here don't. They're incredibly overpriced. The guy even acknowledged that I could buy cheaper parts elsewhere. They mainly repair. So stick to Amazon, Newegg, Frys, etc if you're looking to find parts to build or upgrade your PC. Just a thought but if their parts are overpriced I can't even imagine what their repair price must be like. I can't speak for their repair service. It could be excellent. But I'd recommend getting a couple quotes from a few different places before you settle here. Some more food for thought. Read another review by a user about tempered glass. Her tempered glass screen protector cracked and not her actual screen. So the guy basically charged her to remove the screen protector lol I mean, if they were that professional they should have recognized that just by looking at it and save them the trouble and money. Maybe they just charged the person for a new tempered glass screen protector. Who knows. I mean they're cheap. Under $10 on Amazon for a pack of 2. If they just charged the person to remove the protector then they ripped her off. I gave three stars because at least the guy I talked to was polite. read more

We got a mean virus on our desk top computer on Saturday 6/9/2011. We brought it to Computer Central at about 3:20PM. The owner was not there (very nice, honest, and knowledgeable lady) but Antony was there. He cleaned up the virus and we had our computer back in an hour. Excellent service with a big smile. Summary: Good prices and good work. We spent a lot of time with the owner who fixed our PC. But she fixed a nasty problem with a crashed hard drive. We'll probably use them again. Cost: Reasonable. $200 to remove data from a failed hard drive, buy a new hard drive and reload the hard drive with basic software. It was a bargain. Service: Very good. We got a nasty worm on our computer. As we were fixed it, the hard drive failed. The computer tech got the failed hard drive to restart and offloaded the data onto a DVD. She also moved the outlook email addresses and lots of other little data items as my wife specified. She put in a new hard drive, reloaded it with the data, and software. It took about two days. Fair to me. Service: Very good. You are talking to the person who fixes your PC. Communication problems are minimized. Owner is nice and easy to work with. Owner made us stay (about 2 hours) so she could correctly assess she was saving the correct data. Owner suggested free anti-virus and malware-killing software we could download. Ambience: Early PC tech office - PC parts scattered all over the store, The place isn't pristine, but it is OK. read more

Took my S5 to get the screen replaced. After picking it up Ali informed me the price was cheaper because it wasn't my screen that cracked it was the tempered glass (which i didn't know I had on lol). A small computer sales and repair shop with good service. I brought my laptop in with a failed hard drive. The guy replaced the drive in just a few minutes while I waited so that we could see it was going to work. It looked good, so he sent me home while he reinstalled the operating system. He had told me it would be ready by the next day, but ended up calling just a few hours later to say it was ready. No problems and everything is working great. Before I found this shop I spent 20 minutes on hold waiting for a Best Buy tech to pick up the phone and give me a quote. I've also dealt with another local small store where the service was definitely slow and unprofessional. Not this place. Except for the somewhat messy, looks-like-an-electronics-store-exploded shop environment, Computer Central was a high-quality experience. If I have any more problems I'll definitely be coming back here. read more
