This beautiful Victorian style house is known to have been deeded to a descendant of Robert E. Lee in 1913 who was also one of the first Mayors of Stockbridge. Following him, one of his son's owned the home who also was one of Stockbridge's Mayors. This house stayed in the Lee family until Mrs. Mildred Lee passed away 1994. Charles and Lynda Dubbs, purchased the home in 1995. The house was in such poor condition when first purchased they immediately began an 18 month restoration of the home. They tried to retain as much of the original Victorian structure that they possibly could. In keeping with that intent, they furnished the house with graceful period antiques, beautiful chandeliers, original artwork, and lavish decorations. A 2,800 Sq. Ft. Ballroom with banquet buffet area was added in 2003. Wasn't contacted until the Monday after about the stain (baby shower held on Saturday) Their reasoning behind it was because something spilled on the floor and was hard to get up. Didn't make sense since we paid $75 for a cleaning fee and that should've covered it. Not to mention, unprofessional that she kept emailing me late at night about the issue and the day of she showed up late after we finished. The aftermath is what ruined this for me. Unfortunately, the venue and the customer service did not meet expectations. Before my event, I originally requested July 18, but I was told the date was unavailable. Then, on July 18, the owner actually called me saying she was at the venue waiting for me, only to later admit she had confused my reservation with someone else's after their booking had been canceled. It was frustrating knowing that the date I originally wanted had become available without anyone ever notifying me. The biggest issue occurred during my event. It rained, and multiple leaks developed from the ceiling. Water was dripping directly over the gift table and another area of the venue, creating safety concerns and forcing us to move things around during the celebration. I have photos and videos documenting the ongoing leaks. What disappointed me even more was the owner's communication throughout the process. I often felt like my concerns weren't important because my event was relatively small. Communication was slow, unprofessional, and lacked empathy. Instead of focusing on resolving the issues, I felt dismissed. Thankfully, my family, friends, decorators, and vendors came together and made the best of the situation, so we still created beautiful memories despite the venue's condition. If this venue addressed its maintenance issues, improved communication, and treated every customer with the same level of respect regardless of event size, it could provide a much better experience. Unfortunately, based on what I experienced, I cannot recommend it.
