Called Thursday. Had a repair person here Friday between 12-3. Received a text when service tech was en route. I also received a text with the service techs picture and Joe arrived promptly at 1:45. He had diagnosed the issue with our 7year old fridge immediately. He also had the part we needed with him. He installed it and was on his way. He was only probably here for maybe 20-25 minutes total! We called on a Friday to set up an appointment for a repair on the washer. They said Wednesday would be the first available. Wednesday came and went. No call whatsoever from Ted's. We called them Thursday to see why no one called or showed up. They simply said " I don't have you on my schedule". So we went ahead and booked another day witch was going to be the next day Friday. Once again, no call or show. We called them and they said "oh I don't have you on my schedule for today". I will never call, shop or get a repair from Ted's Appliance. RIP OFF ARTISTS! Ted's will NOT service the new BEKO dishwasher they sold to me. In fact, I could not find ANY appliance repair person within 30 miles that have even heard of BEKO much less will repair it. Also, it is computerized and beyond confusing to use. Keep your receipts because when the manufacturer contacts them asking why they will not service the dishwasher, Ted's will not call the manufacturer back. Ted's will not install it but have a man contact you and you pay $150 CASH ONLY and installer refused to give me a receipt. BTW Beko dishwashers are a cheap piece of junk. Parts are gotten out of the country. $730 ($580 of which is the dishwasher) down the drain. read more

I came home from work to a dryer full of wet clothes. Upon initial inspection it looked like the drum wasn't turning and likely needed a belt replacement. I called Teds at 5:50pm and they sent Mike out the next day. He arrived on time and had the dryer apart in minutes and had it fixed and back together within a half an hour. We have always received amazing service from Teds and highly recommend them for all your appliance needs and repairs! read more

I have been impressed with Ted's Appliance. I recently moved to Kalamazoo, buying a house with a washer and dryer. They we're supposed to be in working conditions, however, the washer did not work. I called Ted's and they sent a repair person out. Unfortunately, the problem could not be fixed. I bought another washer from Ted's, an extra large Whirlpool. Upon using it I noticed it was not filling up all the way. I called Ted's and they sent a repair person right out. The problem could not be fixed in my home so arrangemenus were made to pick it up. I was offered a loaner while mine was being repaired. I declined the loaner because it is just me in the house and I have way too many clothes to see me through. My washer was returned within three days, repaired and ready to go. The staff were easy to work with, polite, professional, and knowledgeable. read more

What can you improve??? EVERYTHING! Scheduled repair for dryer and basic service for washer between 12-3. 1/2 hr before appt text and say can't come today scheduled for tomorrow between 12-3. No call to schedule just make it the next day and text. Next day guy gets there to fix washer, not dryer that is broken. Schedule for next day bet. 12-3 and next morning they text and say can't come today need 2 techs, reschedule for 5 days later by sending text without speaking to us. What a cluster. We have had good and bad experiences. Here's the BAD. Bought a Washer/Dryer. It was delivered and did not work. The service person ordered a part-waited a week for it-still did not work. Said had to pick it up and return it to the shop to see if they could figure out what was wrong. At that point, we had no confidence that it would ever work satisfactorily-so we asked for our money back. WELL, we did get some of our money back LESS a $100 restocking fee. So, we were sold a Washer/Dryer which was supposed to have been checked out and working-but it had not and did not. AND had to pay $100 for the privilege. read more

Teds sent out a service guy after one week. The guy told us we needed a part and he would order it. After a week, we called the office to check on our status. We were told that no part had been ordered. After a month with no dryer, a second service guy came to our house with the ordered part. He then told us that we did not need the part at all, but it was a different problem. So we are looking at another month with no dryer. Teds is incompetent. Do not use this place. read more

I normally don't leave reviews but I wanted to save someone a trip. I have just recently took my microwave in to get fixed, the door would not stay closed so it wouldn't work. He looked at on Mon 7/31/23, called me up and told me the spring came off and the hook it attached to broke off and told me it needed a new door and would cost 200-250$ and would take weeks to get one since it was 10 yrs old. I told him I would pick it up after work and he said I didn't have to that they would just junk it. I picked it up anyway, they kept the 30$ deposit . When I got home I watched a 2 minute utube video about how to fix it, I took a trim piece off with a flat screw driver and reattached the spring to a different area, put it back together and plugged in and it worked like new. I believe he was gonna do the same thing and resell it if I didn't pick it up. I recommend picking up your appliances if you drop off especially if he tell you he can't fix it. Be careful if you use this store. I used them multiple times and this is the first time I was screwed over, but it only takes one time with me before you lose my business and recommendations. I purchased 4 appliances from teds. The electrical in the house needed to be updated to accommodate the stove. I told teds I was unable to see if the range worked because I needed all electrical updated. They said no problem, they check all appliances, they work. Well after finally getting it all updated, the oven does not work on the range. They came to trouble shoot, Said no problem we'll exchange toward a different one. I go in to do exchange and they refuse to honor what they said. They said it's been too long. They were kept informed on the electrical problem many times. They are dishonest, they get broken down appliances, repair them and resale for top dollar. They take advantage of people that can't afford to be taken advantage of. Slimly. Stay away. read more

Terrible customer service. Washer and dryer purchased with delivery the next day. Delivery people came, took the door off the house and all handrails to the basement. Unhooked the old washer, moved to middle of room, all while complaining about the delivery and how it was a pain. They determined that they needed additional help moving things in/out, put the door back on and said they'd be back. Then got the call that my order was cancelled and that I had to come back into the store for a refund. Now, my old washer is in the middle of the room, not hooked up, and all my safety handrails are down and shopping somewhere else for appliances and putting my railings back up. We went to Ted's because we needed an additional refrigerator for our basement. We do weekly meal prep and our main fridge is small and we find ourselves constantly having to juggle items around, so we decided a second fridge would solve our problems. After looking on Craig's List, we discovered we can pay just as much from an individual as we can an used appliance store, plus we will come home with an 18 month warranty and for an extra $50 they deliver. We visited Ted's on Saturday afternoon and because it had been recommended by a few other friends, we went in optimistically. Ted's was really pretty dirty and it smelled horribly of cigarettes. As smoking in public areas has been illegal for many years and no one we know smokes, it was bizarre and super unpleasant to walk into a building and smell the overwhelming stench of stale cigarettes. Whomever is smoking inside Ted's needs to stop. The appliances themselves were grimy. I lifted the lid on a washing machine and quickly closed it because it was covered in mildew. Every single fridge we opened seemed to have been cleaned by someone who was either in a huge hurry or did not have sufficient lighting. Ted's does have a lot of fridges. We did not want to spend a fortune on a used refrigerator for our basement, so we picked a $300 standard model that was actually cleaner inside then a majority of the appliances around it and were able to arrange for a Monday delivery date. We made arrangements with Ted (who did not seem to be THE Ted of Ted's) who was helpful and polite. On Monday morning we received a phone call that our delivery would happen within 90 minutes, which was strange, but fine. Usually arrival windows are given - 9 am to 12 pm - and then the company calls 15 minutes before they arrive. Ted's gives an arrival window, but calls a full two hours before they arrive. It's a weird system. The two young men who delivered our fridge were quick and obviously well versed at appliance delivery. (They also each had on two bottles of cologne. Our entire first floor smelled like really terrible men's cologne for four hours after they left.) The fridge was delivered cleaner than it was at Ted's, which was nice. Once we plugged it in we discovered it was fairly loud, but as it's in the basement we don't really care. It's cold and so far it's working. I'm not sure if I would visit Ted's again if we needed additional used appliances. I might branch out to another used appliance store in the area first and see what else is out there to compare. The cleanliness and cigarette smell were huge detractions and really hard annoyances for me to ignore. read more

I've had positive experiences with Ted's each time I've worked with them, whether for a clogged drain, a washer that wouldn't run, or a fridge that wasn't getting cold. Their knowledgeable employees are able to diagnose the issue and repair it- or offer a refurbished appliance if repairs will end up being extensive. I'm not sure how their prices compare to other places in the area. I'm willing to pay what they charge because they're reliable to work with and respectful of my home. read more

I bought a fridge from them on the fact that they said they would take the old one away if i buy one from them, perfect that's what i needed, long story short i bought a fridge from them they delivered the fridge, removed the old fridge and left it in the back of my building. i called them and told them i bought a fridge from them and was told they would haul the old one away, they made up a disrespectful lie and said my old fridge was full of roaches this was friday they said they'd be back Monday to get it never showed up to get it, also I've been living where im at for 16 years and never had roaches. the fridge was a very old fridge that im sure they couldn't refurbish to make money from so they came up with the best lie they could, so they didn't have to take it. i offered to take pics and vid to bring in and show them that there was no roaches but they didn't want to see something that was going to prove them liars to they face. We have been very happy with their service. Our refrigerator kept breaking be on and off but Joe was helpful and ensured that he got to the root cause to fix it. He just didn't fix it to get it working without knowing what was wrong. He clearly explained what was going on and why he wanted to monitor it. Our refrigerator is now working amazingly well. I needed a part for my GE dryer. I called & was told they would have in stock. This part sells for $23 dollars on Amazon via official GE store & $24.13 via GE website. When I went to Ted's to purchase part, I was told the price was $70. I advised of the competition's price & was told they intentionally raise price to encourage purchasing new ones. They were very affordable, delivered in the 2 hour window I was given, very polite, they even helped me get a gas line extended so it would fit the dryer. No complaints would definitely use again. inappropriate practices (bloody towel) and blunt, rude customer service On 10/31/17 I had a technician come out to repair and install a dryer that was gifted to me for free as they were purchasing new. I know the dryer worked prior to repair and installation. The technician came out and immediately started telling me how the whirlpool dryer was "garbage" and I was better off keeping my old one. I explained that the old one was not working properly and wanted it switched out. He continued to complain that he was not made aware he would need to move anything and that is not his job. I apologized for the miscommunication and said that I thought it was properly explained what I needed. He did what he could which I was grateful for. He took it apart; replacing the belt, checking the electronics, and vacuumed it out before leaving. I noticed he cut the top of his left hand on something I had not noticed but could tell it was bleeding. He said nothing of it so I did not think anything of it until later I discovered a bloody paper towel in the pedestal/drawer the dryer sits on which I know was empty prior to the appointment. I work in healthcare and to see this, I was very concerned due to bloodborne pathogens and diseases. I am not implying he had any diseases but I do not know him and was not willing to take any chances. I asked if I could pay all together at the end since he was unwilling to move the dryer. This lead to Teds Appliance sending out a two man crew to switch out the appliances.They were here for about 15 minutes. Again, I asked if I would be willing to call in so I could pay all together. They said yes and handed me the receipt. A couple hours later I went to check the dryer out and it was not working at all. I called the office back and asked for someone to come out. They said they would contact the two man crew to come check it out. They came shortly after, pressed the same buttons I did and unplugged and plugged the appliance back in. I asked if they could fix it . They said they would need to call the office back as they are not technicians just installation crew. They went to the truck to make the call and left without explaining. I called the office to find out what the plan was and the guy on the phone said he told them to leave as I had not paid yet and they were unwilling to send out another technician. I explained that when I was handed the receipt I asked both technicians if I could pay over the phone when the dryer is done being installed. They both said yes. He explained that since I had not paid, the service rendered are not under the warranty provided by Teds and therefore they were unwilling to send anyone out to look at it. He then asked if I was willing to pay in order for someone to come out. I, again, said that I was willing to pay once everything is done and as far as I was concerned the repair and installation was not done. He then said that if I am unwilling to pay then they are "done" with me and I should go elsewhere. I said it was not a matter of me not paying, it was a matter of the appliance not working and therefore I do not believe that the services provided are done. He asked me if I was willing to pay in order to have someone come out again. I did not think this was proper as the issue came about from them as far as I was concerned. The item should have been tested by both technician parties before they left and it was not. I know when I got the item it worked. I ended up going elsewhere to get the issue resolved - who charged me 1/3 of what Teds was asking. UPDATE - The issue was that the original technician never plugged the power cord into the proper internal outlet and therefore there was no power. It was nothing that I did, or the installation team - Had this company simply sent the repair technician back out to fix HIS mistake none of this would be necessary. UPDATE - Spoke to Charlie (because Kevin (the manager) was "busy") who informed me that if he had sent out the installation team first then the second service call (electronics) would have been tested because the machine would have been hooked up properly. The machine did not work because the internal electronics was not properly plugged back in. It had nothing to do with the flame or drum or anything beyond connecting the power cord to the inside electronics. - All in all Charlie informed me that he will be waiving the second service call fee of $80 and his secretary Michelle will mail me an invoice to take care of the bill to settle this issue once and for all. I confirmed that collections will not be involved for the $80 we agreed was not being collected and Charlie confirmed. DO NOT DEAL WITH TEDS APPLIANCE - CALL NELSONS INSTEAD - THEY SHOW UP IN COMPANY VEHICLES AND TREAT YOU AND YOUR HOME WITH RESPECT FOR A MORE THAN FAIR PRICE. The guy who came out was more apt to try and convince me it was cheaper to buy a new stove than convert it from propane to natural gas. Then he also tried to convince me the stove would melt in a timeframe it had already passed. The work took way too long and even after ordering parts they were wrong. Most of the time the guy complained even to guests of my house. Honestly, if they didn't have the $80 service call go to the total bill I would have called someone else. Terrible. read more

Had a microwave repaired in Nov of 2016 (replaced magnetron). 4 months later the part failed, since it was past the 90 day warranty I was out of luck, so I figured bad part. Had it replace again, again it failed after 8 months, called to complain that the repairs aren't lasting, was told that I was lucky that it lasted 8 months and that the parts are made cheaper than they used to be and that microwaves are disposable and rarely last more that than a year....refused to help me with this even though I now have over $200 in repairs over this. They never said you'll be lucky to get a year out of this repair, never said it's not worth fixing, never said that the repair won't last. So if you want a repair done like mine go here. read more

I have used Ted's Appliance several times over the years. I have been more than 100% satisfied every time, they have always treated me well. Until last night. I was treated horribly but the technicians that I paid $135 to install my appliance. They broke things in my home, including the brick on my front porch. They didn't install correctly and I have a water leak. When I called the office (very, very upset), the "manager" said "we're closed, I don't have to help you, stop being rude to me," and HUNG UP ON ME. Then, I called the technician and she was with him, they were both extremely rude to me, and HUNG UP ON ME AGAIN. The manager on duty today was also rude and didn't want to help me. I wasn't the one who broke things, was two hours late, and hung up on me. I don't understand why they have been so horribly mean. Now I'm nervous because they know my address and they were very hostile, so I am worried about my family's safety. I WILL NEVER USE TEDS AGAIN. I bought a microwave from Teds. It was a stainless and very nice looking appliance but when we got it home we found out that it didnt work. Called Teds and they brought out a replacement which was half the price of the one we purchased and absolutely filthy.Classic bait and switch. So we had to go for a second time to Teds to return the one they tried to unload us. After several minutes of their "salesman" pretending they didnt know that the original microwave was completely useless, they grudgingly refunded my money, but only after taking 10% for a restocking fee. I first called teds after the big storms last November and theman on the phone basically refused to come out saying his services were too expensive for me even after I told him money was no object my insurance company was covering it. Figuring they were just busy with all the damage I decided to give them another shot when my washer broke a few days ago. Totally ripped us off. We called yesterday and told them the make and model of our stove and Ted said, "Kitchen Aid is the best stove in the world. You should fix it." He said he would send someone out for a $50 service call. The guy came to our house, told us they don't make parts for the stove anymore and charged us $80 for the service call + labor, which he didn't do.
