I guess I have a few more photos to add to here. Worker at the establishment was incredibly kind, not only providing us good items to purchase, but also good advice for fish (porgy) in the area. The value here is actually pretty good. I don't know how to put one of those $ out of five ratings on here, but I would give it 2/5$ I have no idea who wrote a review stating that this place closed down 30 years ago, it's still real in the year is 2024. She hooked us up with some free weights and also gave us some cool free magnets. Prices were very fair and the bait was fresh. And as it turns out, my parents bought their fishing rods twenty years ago on their honeymoon at this shop - and the rods still work perfectly. If you're going fishing in the area, you have got to stop at this place first. We owe our great experience to them!

First pic is my son playing just outside the shop with a hanging twirling decoration after wanting so badly to play with all the lawn wind decorations they had that were fenced in and not accessible. On this day just a few weekends ago the shop was quiet and not overly inviting so we kept moving onto the next shop. However the second picture is on Halloween and just outside the shop. Halloween night was very eventful in the old Mistick village and insanely Busy. With that being said we stopped to visit the kite shop and had a great interaction with the owner dressed like none other then babe Ruth, and this man was one of the most outgoing gentlemen I've encountered in quite a while!!! I wish now that we had taken a picture and spent some time browsing the shop. Because of this alone we will be definitely be returning to by my sons first kite. Update to follow

He began talking to us about bookstores with cats, to his favorite commercials, and even the perfect snow boot. I was enthralled and amused at the same time, and really felt his warmth and kind nature emanating not only from the zany and random conversations, but also the wacky kites and other knickknacks strewn around his shop. There doesn't look to be any rhyme or reason, it's kind of a massive garage sale vibe, but there's a sweetness about it. We didn't buy anything, because we aren't avid kite flyers or anything, and some of the kites were a bit pricey, but also quite large and probably beyond our level of expertise or interest. Otherwise, it's a charming store, albeit a bit messy, but the main draw is the shop owner, and when he gets to playing those John Lewis commercials for you, get some kleenex ready because they're kind of tearjerkers. 3.5 stars
