I usually do my own maintenance on my bike, but when it's something I have no experience with, or requires special tools, it's best to leave it to the experts. Fortunately we have just the ticket here in Yucaipa . I bought a low mileage Vulcan 900 that the previous owner had ridden in the rain mostly . The forks were leaking oil so I took them to Ted's Garage to get the seals replaced. Since the previous owner did not have boots on the forks they had tiny rust pits . New fork sliders are expensive, but Ted said they would see what they could do. His tech buffed out the pits and installed new seals . It's been a year and over 5,000 miles of riding and no leaks. I'd say they did an excellent job . If and when the time comes I will be going to them for replacement or any job that requires expertise . read more

I have a Triumph motorcycle I bought at the Douglas Triumph dealer. However, once they went out of business, there are no certified Triumph mechanics in the area. I was thrilled to learn that Matt, who was the mechanic at Douglas is currently working at Ted's Garage 13, and therefore I was able to take my bike there. I called during a busy time, and I thought I'd have to wait a long time, but Ted himself called me back, was super knowledgeable, funny, and assured me that I would receive a great service from Matt. This recommendation is a little late but here goes... I am an instructor with the California motorcycle safety program (CMSP). I was conducting a class at March Air Reserve base last year. I had a student that trailered her used R6 to the base in order to participate in the training. Since she had no idea how to utilize a clutch she ended up killing the battery since she stalled the bike so many times. I had enough instructors available so I could bring her and her bike to Ted. Since the transaction was between my student and Ted, I stepped away but listened to Ted discuss the needs of her motorcycle. He was extremely knowledgeable regarding the R6 and advised certain things be done and did not push her to "fix" things that could wait. I appreciate his business sense and the fact that he did not try to push unneeded repairs onto this young lady as I have witnessed other shops do. He knows his business and can work on virtually anything on two, three or four wheels. As a female rider, this is the first place I took my bike to that treated me as a fellow rider, not just some chic on a bike who knows nothing, which is often (sadly) synonymous with being mistreated and overcharged. Ted has YEARS of experience and it shows through the quality of work he puts forth. I live in San Diego and still insist on making special trips to have work done because it is worth every mile and penny spent.
