He did balayage on my hair- which for very curly hair is not the easiest thing. It looks so natural and great! I found Ted after moving to the area six years ago and reading good reviews. I have to say, Ted is not just a good hair guy, he is an artist and his medium is hair. He is passionate about his work, dedicated to always improving (despite it seeming nearly impossible at his level of mastery), and even works on the side as an international educator. His work is incredible - truly! I now walk in and leave the color and cut completely up to him and haven't yet been disappointed (I'm a bit more controlling with every aspect of my life, so this trust is significant). In the last six years I've followed him to several salons and was delighted when he opened his own place in Cherry Creek a few years ago. I've gone to Ted many times and he has always provided an excellent color and cut. I'm so glad he's back in Cherry Creek North. Right now during COVID he's a one chair, one client salon and very careful about sanitizing so it feels nice and safe. Ted has always listened to what I want, but I also trust him enough to say, "You do what you think is best this time." I cannot imagine Ted EVER being rude or unprofessional as one long-ago review states; he is the polar opposite of both those things. Got a groupon for a Keratin blow out. Followed the instructions and went on their website to book my appointment. I found that it's impossible to get anyone on the phone right away but Ted was good at returning calls. On the day of my appointment I needed to cancel or reschedule because of work issues and again, I was not able to get anyone on the phone. I just went to Karla for the first time. I will be going back. I am always a little nervous going to someone new as I have had some bad experiences: unwanted bangs, bad color, and my hair cut way too short. I'm pretty low key, like a more natural, bohemian look and Karla was awesome to chat with and she listened to exactly what I wanted and was super unpretentious. So I ended up rescheduling and boy was that a mistake. Sean seems to be right out of school. He didn't know the colors, he got the brush stuck in my hair and took way longer than it was quoted as well. He admitted the color didn't turn out like he thought and asked me to give him a shot to fix it. Then went on to tell me he would be charging me to fix it. *OWNER ACCUSED ME OF BEING EVIL, REFUSED SERVICE, TOLD DONT COME BACK**** Scheduled incorrectly for a groupon. While I was apologizing for the inconvenience I caused, I made a JOKE about not waing to be 'that evil customer' of his day, told him I would be more than happy to reschedule, I was the one who made the mistake. He set down his tools, told me "If you're evil, I'm not going to cut your hair." At fist I thought he was joking too. He walked back to the front counter. I apologized and explained that I was joking, I didn't mean anything by it and that in my smart mouthed comment, I DIDNT want to be 'that' client. He began to explain how to book my appointment correctly, stoped mid‐sentence and advised me to call groupon to get a refund. When asked why, he responded "I'm not going to take the chance evil that you're NOT EVIL, leave and dont come back" I stood in stunned shock & silence for a second. This was my mother's day gift from my kids and husband. They actually listened for once lol. I have not been able to go to an actual salon in YEARS. To say I was happy & excited would have been an understatement. So to be accused & called evil, refused service and told to never come back was a slap to the face and EXTREMELY upsetting, put simply. Message to OWNER. Ted. I hope you see this & understand; you acted VERY unprofessional and too top it off, it was EXTREMELY hurtful. Ted is phenomenally talented. He has been cutting, coloring and, most importantly, maintaining my hair extensions for over five years. I lost most of my natural hair due to an illness and he keeps my head full and beautiful with his expertise! This may sound funny, but having a great head of hair makes me happy each and every day. It is one less thing to worry about. I literally get compliments each week and nobody can tell that my hair is not "home grown". Ted is also kind, honorable man who sincerely cares about his clients and their happiness! I would recommend him and his color specialist, Jackie, to any friend. I went to Ted's for the first time a few of months ago in August. Jackie gave me the BEST a-line haircut I've ever had in my life! I like a dramatic a-line where the hair in the front is noticeably longer than in the back. I told Jackie that I wanted that type of cut and she definitely delivered on that request. She used this a neat technique that makes it so that each piece of hair is a slightly different length so that the hair blends well, has a dimensional texture and has more volume. This was an especially good technique for my type of hair because with fine hair I have a hard time achieving volume. Both Ted and Jackie were in when I was there. I really liked that Ted gave Jackie tips on cutting my hair and that they really collaborated. They showed passion for hair cutting as an art form. Jackie offered give me the price of the groupon deal again if I booked my next appointment within 48 hours of that first appointment. 5 stars plus. I'm surprised there aren't reviews for Ted's studio here. Ted is the best hair stylist I've been to and just a wonderful person to be around. I only got the keratin hair straightening, but plan on going back for cuts, colors and extensions. Even though Ted didn't want to talk much about his successes, he is very talented and has experiences with celebrities and top line businesses. He was the go-to stylist for American Idol in Denver and does the first model shoots for Neiman Marcus corporate. He teaches the teachers for high level styling and has a background that varies as much as the conversations! If you are looking for a stylist in Denver/Cherry Creek do not hesitate to go to Ted's Hair Studio. It's VERY hard to find, but once you do you know where to go the next time! He took the time to discuss all the options with me with a slant towards doing the right/healthy thing for my hair. He didn't try to upsell extra services as much as seemed genuinely motivated in giving great service. I love that I found Ted. What started as a single Keratin treatment found on Groupon, has since blossomed into an ongoing relationship with him as my new stylist. I have very long, wavy hair and lucky me, he knows curly! I have gotten color and cuts here and each time feel like he not only really knows what he's doing, but is also willing to educate -- he offered me some ideas for cool updos and at-home treatments I could do myself, which I appreciated. Additionally, I accidentally didn't book enough time at one of my visits for the treatment I wanted (with my very long hair), nevertheless, he somehow managed to juggle myself and two other clients to give me an amazing treatment -- he's that kind of a top notch, high caliber stylist. Ted is rude. First time I went to see him, I scheduled at 430pm due to working until 5pm and at 3pm he called me, emailed AND texted to ask if could come in earlier. No, I cannot. Hence why I made the appointment for 430. My hair turned out good so I ignored that. However he is pretentious and he talked about how he usually only does famous people's hair and how he dated Jessica Alba (lol) and seemed pretty drama filled. I referred a friend to him. The week after she had her appointment, I had one scheduled. I had scheduled it over a month in advance. He canceled it less than 24 hours before with no reason. I emailed him to reschedule with no response. Then my friend told me he was on a planned trip to Vegas, he had told her all about it during her haircut.... Guess that explains the canceled appointment. But again, how rude? This isn't a way to treat or keep clients. Needless to say, taking my business elsewhere. read more

One of the worst salon experiences of my life. I walked in wanting high lights and layers. He completely ruined my hair. First off he cut 4 inches off. I asked for 1. Second, he completely fried my hair with color. I expressed to him at the beginning of the appointment that I have very fragile hair and that the Lady I have seen before him Uses a very low devolper. He proceeded to disregard what I was saying and completely torched my hair with the highest devolper. My hair was breaking off in 6 inch pieces. You would think that my hair would be soft and supple after cutting 4 inches off.... Wrong my hair was so fried it looked like I had not cut my hair in years. Feels like straw, looks beyond terrible. One of the most horrifying salon experiences I have ever encountered. Leaving the salon in tears was not the way I wanted to spend my afternoon. I called him the next day feeling awful to see if he would be willing to give a refund, or partial refund.... Nope none of the above. Such a waste of money and my hair is trashed! Do not go here this guy is awful and should loose his license. read more

Karla was the one who cut my hair, while she was super nice, she COMPLETELY ignored what I asked for. I had very long hair that was damaged, and I knew we would have to cut it. I made sure both before the appointment and during the initial conversation that I had curly hair and that I wanted layers ( because I know my hair). she convinced me to go short to get my hair healthy..I agreed, but I specifically told her NOT to give me an A line cut ( shorter in the back longer in front) because while it might be " the super in Hair cut right now" it just does NOT work with my curly hair. What does she do....gives me an A line. I now have to wait for it to grow so I can get it fixed without going to short. I'm so mad about it because I put my money and faith into somewhere I thought had a good reputation, and walked away feeling like my head has an A frame on it. read more

After texting back and forth with Shawn for 2 days, he finally was able to find an appointment for me. I had a Groupon and was going to be a new client. I showed up yesterday for my apt and couldn't find the salon. Upon calling and Shawn answering, I told him I was looking for the salon. He was surprised I had an appt and asked if I had one. I told him, yes, we texted back and forth. He put me on hold for quite a while, only to then disconnect my call. Obviously, he didn't want to take the appt. and didn't know how to get out of it so just hung up on me. I called back and he answered. I happened to standing outside the entryway and he asked if I was out front. He came out and proceeded to apologize about the mixup and saying that's why it's best to book online, especially during the holidays. If I would have known how incompetent he was at making an appt via texting, I would have booked online at the time. He looked for a time the following day, as I needed it done by Wednesday. It was Sunday already. We booked an appt for today, Monday. I just received a text message (not a call) from Shawn saying Ted does not feel he should leave him in the salon alone to do my appt. as Ted won't be there. What a crock! So he wished me well in finding another appt (at the very last minute mind you). Very poor communication and competence. I would not even try to book an appt. here! read more
