The Millburn Barn is a great location for a wedding all under one roof. However, to experience…read moreprofessionalism, respect, and integrity, I would look elsewhere. I have organized eighteen large-scale events at other venues and have never had to deal with the lack of hospitality by an owner like I did at this place. While our families put together a beautiful and memorable event, it was not without a ridiculous amount of stress from the unaccommodating owners. The zero-tolerance policy of outside alcohol was handwritten like a note on the contract after it was already signed. The conversation about outside alcohol was casual and a story about a previous wedding where a keg was brought into the Groom's suite. Had we been told that their liquor license was in jeopardy instead of being disrespectfully yelled at, we could have resolved the issue professionally. The fact that the owners rummaged through personal items, confiscated gifts without our knowledge, constantly monitored every move via the surveillance cameras (there is no sign anywhere that you are being watched/recorded), spoke to us in a very rude manner, basically called us liars several times, and much more, made me regret the decision to have the wedding at the barn. What owner would say to the bride, "I bet you can't wait till this is over"? Or roll his eyes and say, "oh, god" at the decor we were bringing in? I am disgusted that the surveillance camera in the Groom's suite watched their every move. I wonder if the barn follows the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code. I question the adequate exit access and compliant fire alarm system. I also question their compliance with the ADA Standards for Accessible Design (no designated accessible parking spaces). These are all serious matters that deserve attention. If you prioritize hospitality and integrity in your event planning, look for an alternative venue.

Initially, we were…read moreimpressed with the responsiveness of the venue, as we were planning this wedding while living abroad and would fly back two weeks prior to our wedding to officially tie the knot/move back to the US. This venue seemed like the best option, as they would take care of the decorations/food, everything. The full package. However, it seemed like as soon as paid the initial deposit, all responsiveness went out the window. Because I had an international phone number and couldn't call, we had to rely on email, which apparently they just never checked or never thought to look in junk (saying this after they told us multiple times that it went to 'spam'). Instead, more than once we had to trouble my husband's parents to travel two hours to go up and talk to them. We had family members calling them all the way from WA asking them to respond to our emails. Extremely disappointing for the price we ended up paying. Now, cut to the days leading up to the event when my husband and I were in town. Prior to this, we had been speaking with Erica as our coordinator. However, when we went in to check out the venue the day before to set up/make sure everything was in order, it wasn't. Also, Erica was nowhere to be seen. We never ended up meeting her, despite being told that she would be there to oversee the event. We also noticed that the document we filled out with all the wedding details (supposed to fill out at the month-prior meeting, which we struggled to set up in the first place because they never reached out to us) was largely disregarded and aspects were missing from the room, such as the chair covers/sashes (which Monica told us we weren't entitled to despite clearly going over it) and we had a dirty tablecloth on our memorial table. We were disappointed to say the least. NOW to the day of the event. We spent the first few hours of the reception frustrated and angry that the venue was so unprepared. The wine wasn't served with dinner, only shortly after, and the prime rib wasn't ready when all of the other food was being served. One of the waiters looked me and my husband in the eye and kept walking without serving us wine. When it came to the cake cutting, the knife for it wasn't at the table, despite them having a schedule for when the cake cutting would be taking place and asking us if we were ready. So, we stood up there awkwardly waiting while they ran to the kitchen, and then once we cut it, Veronic told my husband's mother that she would have to cut and serve the cake, despite being promised that it would be taken to the kitchen and cut/served. We also told them we would like to save the top of the cake but they said they didn't have a box for it? Crazy. Additionally, prior to the reception starting, Veronica was pestering my husband's mother because the final payment for the venue didn't go through, even though we had made the payment the previous day and they had noted it. Their processing company was having issues, and they had no right to speak about this to my husband's mother. Our finances are our problem and if they had an issue they could wait and speak to me or my husband. Lastly, the processing company would not accept our payment over the next few days. We ended up having to wire the money but then we ended up being charged twice, sending our account to a VERY negative balance. If we had been worse off, this would've been devastating.

When it came to…read moreprofessional etiquette they went ABOVE and BEYOND to make my staff feel UNWELCOME and UNSKILLED. They followed them around the facility and condescendingly barked out orders and reprimanded them. They were clearly exhausted from hosting large parties the entire weekend so by the time they got to my event on a Sunday afternoon, they were simply devoid of any ounce of customer service. We were told there would be security. There was none. I paid for an "open" beverage bar to include pop water and wine. I provided 8 bottles of my OWN champagne despite the fact that she said outside alcohol was not permitted and when that was all gone she declined to offer the wine that I PAID her to provide. Terri served my guests soft drinks from a previous event--warm, flat Coke from the party before ours! Her husband yelled at my grandchildren and sparked a verbal confrontation during which threats of physical violence were made and harsh language exchanged ALL DURING THE COURSE OF MY EVENT. She was less than accommodating on very minor issues which made it clear that she did not value me as a patron . For instance, she stored a throne chair behind the buffet table, and when I asked her to move it so that my servers could access that space she argued that there was "no place else to put it". She also failed to remove the cake stand that I clearly indicated I did not want to use. The banner for the backdrop was hung in such a way that made it impossible to take pictures without having to edit them to cover up the borders. In short, if I were you, I would only do business with this place if: Money was no object You don't care how your guests are treated The terms of the agreement aren't kept And you don't mind the owner of the business partaking in your event as if she was an invited guest including eating the food!

I had a micro wedding so only 42 people attended however the dining room holds 52. I loved the warmth and coziness that the dining room gave off. There were 5 round tables set up, with the dance floor being in the center of the room. There was a lovely small table set up with my husband and I, right in front of the fireplace. There are several rooms off of the dining room to either sit in or take pictures in. The bar has a walk through to a hallway that opens into another room. The larger room housed the appetizers and were set up so guests can either take an appetizer and just walk around or sit down. This was very nice so that people weren't congregated in the dining room prior to dinner being served. The food at my reception did not disappoint. I was able to test taste everything that I chose. I really enjoyed my selections and felt as if I had dined at a 5 star restaurant, at my reception. The food was served family style and I loved this because it was intimate. I preferred this rather than having it served buffet style. Every single person said it was the best food, they have ever had, at any wedding. I chose Beef Wellington bites, veggie spring rolls, and caprese skewers. I had two entrees that consisted of Guinness Braised short ribs complimented by garlic mashed potatoes and Chicken Limone with baby carrots. There were salads at the table with 2 types of dressing and a small loaf of bread. Lehmann Mansion made my experience memorable. There was just the right amount of food. Even the temperature was perfect. I also need to mention that one of my friends had a special diet since she has celiac disease. Her meal was served hot and consisted of a chicken breast with carrots and mashed potatoes. Her meal was. placed in front of her she wasn't singled out for having a different meal. This meant the world to her since she is rarely able to enjoy food anywhere. This brought tears to my eyes since I have seen her struggle with eating. There was also a beautiful mirror with Rob & my name, along with our wedding date. This was at the entrance to Lehmann Mansion and welcomed us into our reception. That was such a simple thing, but meant so much to us. I saw my dream come to life when I walked into my reception. Jay and Sara thank you so much for everything you did and making our day so special. We appreciate everything you did. All of the hard work really paid off. We will never, ever forget all of the special touches. I absolutely loved how the sage green napkins looked with the white tablecloths. It was wonderful and so spring like.
