Our littlest will likely start in the preschool next year. It's a very warm, friendly, diverse, and educational place. The rabbi is warm and so knowledgeable, and available to congregants. I had the pleasure of visiting with cantor Billy Tiep (he took classes with my chazzan and dear family friend, Nathan Lam, at Stephen Wise and his best friend, Jackie Mendelson, who lives in NY.) Billy was so warm, kind, welcoming, and overall an über mensch. It was truly a pleasure to get to know him. I also love the fact that the synagogue has many programs for those of all ages. There are also many activities organized by the temple outside of services- classes, tikkun projects, etc. There's also a preschool on the property (always a plus)! Billy was truly a great conversationalist, informative, and very helpful... I admire his passion for cantorial arts, Judaism, and tradition. I got a little sneak peak of what he's planning for Purim, and let me tell ya, it's going to be exciting!!!! Overall, I love cantor Billy's his vision (yeah, yeah... i can kvell over the guy all day), and I can see myself raising a Jewish family at this shul. Thank you for the warm welcome, Temple Solel. Chalice UU in Escondido gives me the chance to get outside of my small world (that's often full of worry) and view life from a wider, more loving perspective. It also helps me find the best places to contribute time, energy and $$ to deserving social efforts, another thing that gets me out of my small world! The music and messages are wonderful. This church is a nuisance in the community. From 5 am "praise music" blaring from the speakers, to…read moredrummers banging away at 11pm, it has made our haven of a community a nightmare. Just when you think it couldn't get worse, they put in...a pickleball court. They don't appear to adhere to any hours. From 8:30 am or 8:30 pm in every room of my house, I hear the playing. My neighbors have all kindly reached out asking them to mellow, but it is 7:42 pm and here we are still hearing the pickling. If the hours stopped at 5 or they used quieter paddles, I would cut them some slack. Our HOA has made excessively strict rules about the game, and as someone who loves to play, I'm not opposed. I just wished they would think about the fact they set up in a community with people who have tough jobs and would occasionally like to come home to some peace and quiet.

Weekly program: 915-1030 am Bible interactive Lesson study (Spanish and English seperate groups) 1045am -12 noon Worship service in English with Spanish in-the-ear translation 1230 Fellowship lunch Really enjoy the teacher who leads out the discussion on the 1st and 3rd saturdays at 915 am. He really makes you think and has a good sense of humor! :-) They also have weekly Bible studies in spanish and english, social events, health fairs and seminars as well as their own pathfinder (like boy scouts and girl scouts but Bible based.) They could improve on same-day after church programs.

The pastor even said "we finally have two main candidates for governor that are Republican- praise the Lord". This energy would easily deter anyone who was not a Republican that is exploring their faith- very disappointing. Unfortunately, we won't be back because of this.
