Traditional, meaning only men lead services and get aliyot but the congregational seating is mixed. Kiddush following Shabbat morning service. Kid's services downstairs led by a great teacher. I've been attending services since mid-2003 and like it. For a small congregation it hosts several classes and youth programs. Services are mostly in Hebrew, but there is a supplement available for non-Hebrew speakers. And we have the best Rabbi and Rebbetzin in town!!

My synagogue growing up was a very nice, standard, concrete building across the street from a public middle school on Long Island. I can't even compare my old synagogue to Plum Street! I've never been in a Catholic cathedral in my life, but this is what I always envisioned them as! Golden, historic, EXTREMELY high ceilings, a balcony for the choir/orchestra, long pews, the smell of candles and hard-wood... the ambiance and warmth of this place just surrounds you! I've been to a few Shabbat services as well as Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashannah. Unfortunately my budget can't fit in the annual dues beyond my free 1st year (for being under 35) so until I can afford to be an official congregant again, I'll have to visit on a tour. I highly recommend that anyone - gentile or Jew, tourist or local - visit this temple! It is a part of history, not just for Reform Judaism in the US but for Cincinnati and architecture as well!

I love to cook and the folks here who put on the cooking classes do a tremendous job teaching the kids about cooking and the cultures whose foods we are preparing. The kids get real hand-on experience preparing foods. The two sessions they have been in (while I was in town) were France and Mexico. Recipe cards are available for the children to take so they can cook their new foods at home with their families. What fun!

One of the staff members directed me to their pre-school room so that my two year old could play and not disrupt the service. We also went in here during the Bat-Mitzvah. The room looked great and the temple is situated in a pretty forest setting.
