The Manfriend and I were feeling rather silly on Saturday evening, so we decided to check out what sounded like the raunchiest store in the LBC. I would consider myself pretty worldly and informed... but there were things in there that I had never even heard of before. I was like a wide-eyed little kid, picking up things and showing them to manfriend, "LOOK AT THIS! LOOK AT THAT!" There was your usual trashy lingerie, and then stuck in the middle of all that, there was 2 sets of what looked like my grandma's pajamas.... it was awkward. Im not sure how that made it in there... Right beside all that, there is a shelf of avon products. Ummmmm.... ok. The best part was the 2 older women in the store shopping... they were rather... whats the word I'm looking for.... free with their speech. It was always a cute store, nothing sleazy despite the type of products sold, but what I really liked was the owner Chrystyle. Not only does she offer good information, but does it without judgement, so you feel really comfortable shopping there as a female. I have also been there when she had a transgender client come in and you could see he was a bit uncomfortable asking for shoes and clothing in larger sizes. She took him in the back bathroom with a variety of items and allowed him privacy to make the choices for the right outfit he was looking for. The look of relief when he left the store spoke volumes.
